The art is fantastic - thank you. Her head scarf and the outstretched arm - wonderful. And the soldier with the drum magazine on his weapon and the detailed uniform - really nice. The dog is terrific. The illustration style is very cool.
Alberta Premier (Canada) just also announced new lockdowns because more sick people again. He also said they reason everyone has to go into lockdowns is because of the unvaxxed and if it wasn't for them there would be no 4th wave.
Our bed shortage is because of nurses quiting more than illness. Sounds like he's looking to scapegoat.
And the soldier with the drum magazine on his weapon and the detailed uniform...
Not to be pedantic (who? Me?) but that's not a soldier (i.e. not Red Army). From the blue cap it looks to me like an NKVD thug. GESTAPO was the German translation of NKVD.
Just to share; my boss and his underling are both out with testing positive for Covid. My Bay Area friend (KAREN) is on this like a fly on........ Did they close the store?? "They" (assume the authorities) need a professional crew to sanitize the whole store!! It isn't safe! (Hand wringing) The hospitals are shut down because they are all full!! Why did they get tested?? (Don't know) How did they get it??(Don't know) Are you positive? (Don't know just found out.) Didn't they close the store? (No) What about the customers? (What about them?) THEY are exposed!! This is how it spreads! It's the unknown! Are they vaccinated? (Don't know) How do you feel? (Fine) What if you have it?? You MUST get tested! WHO will take care of your dogs? (I do have a will in place.) Of course, I live too far away......Have you called corporate? (I'm sure that they know) You should call corporate. You should call out sick your last week there.....tell "them" it's unsafe...... I had to terminte the call. I realize that this is a real disease. I sterilize my area, I wash my hands 50 times a day and use hand sanitizer. I don't interact with a lot of the people who work at the store. I wear a mask. But for the love of all that is cute and wiggly, let's get some sanity back into our lives!! And yes, saw this pic and thought of my friend....

Good catch, very observant of you.... The USSR under Stalin saw, especially during WWII, the embedding of political commissars (political officers) and NKVD "blocking forces" within every ground combat unit of the Soviet Army. These secret police were there to enforce ideological conformity for the state and the party in the case of the political officers, and handle any officer or men on the spot who did not follow orders, in the case of the NKVD. If you've ever seen the film "Enemy at the Gates" (2001),which is about the Battle of Stalingrad, there is a scene where the character of Danilov,an officer in the Red Army, says of this policy, "It is a choice between a German bullet or a Russian bullet," meaning that the Red Army soldier was faced the terrible choice of Germans at his front who would try to kill him if he attacked, and NKVD agents behind him who would shoot him if he retreated.
Yes, you are quite correct: The NKVD, who later became the KGB, were the secret police of the communist party, very much analogous to the Gestapo in Nazi Germany.
Not counting the news outlets or websites along the full range of accuracy and veracity, I follow multiple actual individuals' handwritten blogs. (Bot news aggregators don't thrill me.) Looking them over, many are current serving or former military and a couple are some variation of high-speed low-drag elite forces ninjas. Or just funny as all. Because life without humor is just despair. So in other words, the same folks I trusted in the military not to wet the bed, sh*t themselves, or otherwise run around like headless Nancys, are the same folks I trust on the interwebz, for demonstrating pretty much the same trustworthiness and circumspectly responsible behavior. Color me shocked.

The Soviets are masters of ham-fisted propaganda.
