Flashback: 1965

h/t to Kenny

And to whoever is the Magnificent Bastard who executed this masterpiece:
You could make a living doing a collection like this, and I'd pay for one myself.

I had that book as a kid. I don't remember the real title. I bet I still have it somewhere.

Once just prior to 1965, I told my dad (while cutting wood with a two man 'buck saw'), "...dad, I don't feel like doing this any more". Big mistake. His reply was, "...son, no one gives a shit how you feel, keep cutting". I still hear that to this day (now at 71) when I don't 'feel' like doing something - just keep cutting (or doing). Good advice then - good advice now ..........

Today that book cover would probably be considered child abuse.

"...son, no one gives a shit how you feel, keep cutting".

This revelation is akin to learning about Santa Claus.
It is also necessary to success in the Real World.
Maybe your mama gives a shit how you feel. The rest of us, not so much...
That is all - move along.

I was raised with two statements I heard nearly everyday it seemed. One was "nobody owes you a living" . The other a little more colorful, "Off your ass and on your feet, outta the shade and into the heat, if you don't work you don't eat". The ol man was a hard ass, but at 60 years old, I've never gone hungry.
