There is a lot to be said for talkin' and briben'. If you go beyond that, the others sitting around the table get to play their cards. Sometimes, they have the high cards, or, at least can run up the tab.
Seems Putin didn't realize how much damage his "Corruptocrats" had done to his position. He might still "win", but the costs have gone way up. Damn, his main opponent was Slo Joe. Now he has that "friendly", grinning Chinese dragon to worry about.
Russia could soon become the last country on Earth where you can openly practice Christian faith without persecution. Because of that fact, I would put my money on Vlad Putin to win.
That's been God's M.O. since forever. You could look it up. QED
I seem to recall God comes down fairly harshly on those who falsely pretend to be his own.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Vlad could use his own nose for a broomhandle after that performance at the illegal annexation.
Outside of his controlled pet State Church, when has Putin ever stood up for Christians anywhere? He's good buddies with various open Christian killers like Xi, Lil' Kim, the Castros, and the Mullahs of Iran. But has he ever used his influence over the past few decades to ask for those bloody handed killers to maybe lay off persecuting his fellow members of the Body of Christ? "By their fruits you shall know them", and from what's on the tree, Mamon & Power are Putin's gods.
Ok, caveat to that thing I just posted. In another exchange on that site the volunteer makes a comment about his service in Vietnam (in the "Hostess cupcakes" entry). Now, doing a bit of counting-on-my-fingers math - let's say, 18-20 in 1975, plus 47, that means the guy is pushing 70.
Do I believe that? Do I really think a near-70-year-old is carrying military gear around and hoofing it all over the countryside with a bunch of military-age males?
I think I don't.
Sorry about that. The "slaughter" entry read believably, and I wanted to believe.

Sort of off topic: I don't know if you are familiar with this site, but ISW has an interesting take on Putin and his options for sending "canned sunshine" to Ukraine: https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/special-report-assessing-putin%E2%80%99s-implicit-nuclear-threats-after-annexation
Wretchard the Cat got me hooked on that site, and a few of my old acquaintances in the military gaming/analysis community value their perspective.
Much better analysis than clowns like The (S)Faker or the Comic Book Magnate, who believes that NASA faked the space program and the manned lunar landings.
Really off topic: After 8 hours of driving yesterday on both interstates and city streets in western Ohio, I'll offer another meme for your consideration: "You Drive As If You've Been Vaccinated". I love James Garner's delightful movie "Tank", but I wanted to go on a Killdozer style rampage and use the gory remains to grease the wheels of my car. Perhaps Deathrace 2000 would be more like it...
You don't "annex" one country away from another. To annex it, you have to add it to your own. So when did Kosovo become US territory? If it didn't, we didn't "annex" it, and suggesting we did is simply wrong.
Not counting the news outlets or websites along the full range of accuracy and veracity, I follow multiple actual individuals' handwritten blogs. (Bot news aggregators don't thrill me.) Looking them over, many are current serving or former military and a couple are some variation of high-speed low-drag elite forces ninjas. Or just funny as all. Because life without humor is just despair. So in other words, the same folks I trusted in the military not to wet the bed, sh*t themselves, or otherwise run around like headless Nancys, are the same folks I trust on the interwebz, for demonstrating pretty much the same trustworthiness and circumspectly responsible behavior. Color me shocked.

UN, NATO, G7, congress, cabal, deep state
I think Putin does not give a fuck like millions of human beings on this great Earth and in our great country about globohomo.

That last meme just knocks it out of the park with a barely swung bat. Bravo!

@BCCL,
Then why bother with the fake elections?
@Mahtomedi,

I hate to be a party pooper but to steal a phrase, 'How many divisions does the Pope have?'

What's WRSA's line? "In the absence of orders, find something communist and destroy it"? These guys understand that.
I really wish he would stop parroting the Putin lapdogs and focus a bit more on battlefield realities.

Meh.
Ebola pops up in Africa regularly.
It's only concerning when it keeps spreading outward and nothing slows it down, as in 2014.
It always bears watching, but not necessarily being an object of concern.

"The UN charter is clear."
Except when the US does it to annex Kosovo away from Serbia, because Muslims.
