Everything Old Is New

We see where the folks who've killed all the productive white farmers in S'Africa are hungry, and they have no money to buy food at any price, because they destroyed all the (white-run) industries that used to provide jobs, lacking the literacy, numeracy, and magic juju to run those businesses themselves. Just like every day since australopithecus shinnied out of Olduvai Gorge.

Fortunately, back in the late 1980s/early 1990s, we had people, dedicated thinkers of great thoughts, who'd thought about this, and had a solution.

Just like with gone-too-soon Robin Williams, I miss Sam Kinison every single day.

But he's still just as funny the 500th time I see this.

Need the longer and more erudite but flawlessly exposited answer from 2002?

Speaking of Africa, it's the gift that keeps on giving. Who had "Monkey Pox" on their list for 2021??

Potential Exposure to Person with Confirmed Human Monkeypox Infection — United States, 2021

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in collaboration with the Texas Department of State Health Services and Dallas County Health and Human Services, is investigating a single case of monkeypox virus infection in a U.S. citizen who resides in the United States and recently returned from travel to Nigeria. The patient traveled to Dallas from Lagos, Nigeria, via Atlanta on two separate flights during July 8-9, 2021. The patient presented to an emergency department in Dallas, Texas on July 13 for complaints of a rash that began on July 7, one day prior to travel. Testing at Dallas County and CDC confirmed the presence of monkeypox virus. CDC is working with the airlines to share information with state and local health officials to contact airline passengers and others who may have been in contact with the patient during two flights: Lagos, Nigeria, to Atlanta on July 8, with arrival on July 9; and Atlanta to Dallas on July 9. CDC is issuing this health advisory to ask clinicians to consider a diagnosis of monkeypox in people who present with a febrile prodrome followed by rash and who may have had direct or indirect contact with the patient.

Dear GVDL,

2002. Read the header.

KDT was blogging waaaaaay back then.
The 2017 version I linked was simply him reposting the fifteen-year-old original, and he identifies it as such within the opening line of the prefacing graf.

I probably read it first in 2005 or thereabouts.

And nothing substantial has changed in Africa since then.

Saving someone else is very, very difficult. You can help them save themselves, but they have to want to be saved.

Dogs came from wolves that associated with humans. Dogs recognize and understand human gestures and body language. Their behavior is significantly different from that of wolves. The two are considered distinct species. However the major criterion that distinguishes species is inability to interbreed: even if offspring are produced, they are sterile. Dogs and wolves fail this criterion of separate species: they interbreed freely.
