"Winning"

Be the next ignorant motherfucker in Comments to tell me about Vlad's "legitimate security interests", as they shell civilians in half a dozen cities, daily, around the clock, going into a third week. And then tell the class which side is "winning" this war.

Putin is setting the table for Russia to dine in Hell.

The sooner this madness ends, the better. Ideally, with his head as a peace offering.

FTR, it took about 4 minutes for some anonymous fucktard to pop up and announce that the dead civilians in the lower pic were just faking for the camera, and not really dead.

Apparently, they were just pining for the fjords.

I read that the Ukraine has enough gas under ground and under the Black Sea coast, as well as some oil and coal to destroy the Russian stranglehold on European energy sources. The Invasion is all about wealth and power. I don't believe that Putin gives a damn about the Russians in the Ukraine or the Russian history in the Ukraine. Wealth and power.

Your read on this gets worse by the day.

At the moment Vlad is doing his bloody best to conquer Ukrainian eastern natural gas producing areas. Remains to be seen weather he succeeds.

People who claim that Russia has "legitimate" security interests seem to conveniently forget that so has Ukraine. So far it really seems that Russia has been totally the aggressor, Donbas mutinied with his help and Crimea was just taken (with the help of lots of traitors).

@Anon 11:25P,

My read on this is that the longer this drags out, the more desperate for unobtainable victory Puton gets. I already think he's a high-functioning homicidal sociopath on his best day (that KGB colonelcy is a clue), and it's a short skip from there to setting the world on fire in a tantrum when you can't get your way. Hundreds of millions of dead, to him, is just a statistic.

If he attacks Ukraine with nukes, I think NATO launches a conventional alpha strike on his entire army in Ukraine, and tells him to surrender, or face the total destruction of the Russian Federation, and I think he'll get about 5 minutes to answer the question before the bombers flush, the boomers come up to Missile Firing Depth, and the attack subs pro-actively sink anything afloat flying Russian colors.

China will be advised to stand down and STFU, or brace for the second salvo.

At somewhere around 3 minutes, or the minute he reaches for a phone, Puton suffers a fatal "stroke" induced by a hail of gunfire from about 7 loaded pistols inside the Kremlin.
Unless it happens with a pillow any night now.

The average Russian is clueless, other than the economic impact, but the generals know what's what, and capping Puton solves everyone's problems, and ratchets things down about 5 notches. If they follow up with a hasty withdrawal to the status quo ante, including unassing Crimea and the eastern Ukrainian territories, this all blows over, and in a few years, they can think about getting back to where they were.

If Russia tries to hold what they stole in the last decade, this becomes the newest festering sore on the world stage, and Ukraine will be a nuclear power inside of this decade. The first of about 25, worldwide. And they've got a fresh and centuries-long case of the ass with Moscow at that point.

Just a hunch.

Almost all of which suits Poopypants' minions, who baited Puton into starting this pointless war in the first place, and which ongoing disasterpiece wipes everything else off the news 24/7/365, and makes any bad news/economic disaster look like it's all Puton's fault, instead of Poopypant's senility and incompetence driving the bus off the cliff.

This is what war looks like. Do you think there were no casualties when we took Fallujah each time? Do you know what it looks like when the Air Force drops a 2,000 pound bomb in the middle of a town?

Aesop said...

And how many civilians did we target in those ops, McChuck?

Consult FM 6-27 (2019) and get back to us.

Normally I'd agree and say Aesop shoudn't jump to conclusions with out looking more into it. After all US troops were accused of numerous war crimes in Iraq. Majority of which were bullshit. Especially when the country being invaded decided to arm everyone with rifles and Molotov cocktails.

However I then remember that we are talking about a military that has a history of war crimes and in a fairly recent conflict decided to use flamethrowers for a hostage crisis inside a school.

Aesop said...

Those dead civilians weren't carrying rifles and Molotovs. They were a mother and two daughters trying to unass a war zone, carrying luggage and a house pet, and they were mortared by the Russian army.

Yeah. I know that. I was agreeing with you Aesop. Hence the second part. Take a breather and read the whole thing.

This is why women do NOT belong in the military-any military. (Don't start....but, Isreal! That is a photo op.) Women may learn how to defend the homestead and the kids and the pets.
Men go to War-Women and Children get slaughtered. Along with the house pets. Since Forever and a Day.

Interesting thing about that picture. The guy leaning over the dead is carrying what appears to be a Tavor (IMI< Israeli Military Industries) rifle with a standard AKM Muzzle brake attached... innnnteresting as I like to say... nonstandard kit for sure

Now, I can see the rationale why people would say they're faking... even to my professional gimlet eye, I noticed a distinct -lack- of blood. Almost. Every. single. body. I saw in Iraq that got hit by Arty -usually- was floating in a pool of it's own juices... unless they got kil't by concussion... SNT Sudden Nerve Trauma... THAT doesn't leave a lot of markings outside of what we -can- see in these pics. So more than likely they were waaaay too close to a BIG KaBoom and God flicked the "off" switch on them...

Past experience has shown, and been proven throughout history, that war is the culmination of govt. failure. In war you have 2 (two) and only 2 choices. You are either subject to being caught in the crossfire, or you are a target. Choose wisely.

Aesop, I hope you're correct in your assessment, but I don't think the Russian generals are as bright as you've giving them credit for. If they were, I would have expected Putin to have had that fatal stroke already.

Aesop said...

We haven't given them enough of a reason yet.
I fear they're going to have to see the nuclear genie on open display, ticking down, before they'll decide Putin is a luxury they can no longer afford.

I don't see them riding the ICBM into the ground with him under any circumstances.

We have a wing of stealth bombers just sitting idle.
It'd be a shame if someone cluster-bombed the bulk of that Russian convoy about 0300 local time one of these days.

The Russians, unable to progress against a mass open resistance, is simply halting in place, and shelling cities into submission.
If "execute upon capture" orders haven't been issued to all Ukrainian forces for Russian mortar, artillery, and rocket troops, I miss my guess.

@BCE,

For the incident in question, they were working their way up a street, and maybe 20' from the explosion of a (probable) 120mm mortar. The whole thing was caught on video by a news crew and press gaggle trying to duck across the same street, seen about 1M times since.
The whole family was DRT, and that pic is about 2 seconds after the smoke cleared.
They didn't have time to bleed.

Aesop said...

@Unknown,

My reply wasn't directed at you either.

Bottom line: The Russians are attacking cities, to-whom-it-may-concern, and shelling civilians wholesale, because they can. It's what they do.
And right now, it's all they can do.

It's going to get them slaughtered, either rapidly and soon, or for the next 50 years.

haha, finally agree with you again!
