I wish Abbott was as good as he looks to the outside. A year ago, he was on everybody's shit list, and petulantly announced he wasn't running again. Someone (probably his wife) rekindled his desire to stay in the greedy, grimy world of politics, so he began largely following Desantis' lead in doing the right thing in an effort to hold onto his Governorship. This new EO of his sounds good, but I don't see how it's enforceable, and most of the companies here don't seem to be letting it derail their plans to fire half their current work force. If he's expecting the Legislature to do the right thing...well, I suppose it could happen. Once in a while it does. I'll believe it when the law is passed and signed and not one minute before.
Meanwhile, hubby works for a defense contractor and we're still waiting to see if he has a job after December.
The question is if all those ships will fit thru the Panama Canal; but the ships also waiting to offload in New York could come down to Florida. And even on around to the GoM, and west coast Florida, plus Mobile, Al, Gulfport, MS, New Orleans, LA, and the big one: Houston, TX.
Abbott's EO is completely toothless, with a $1,000 fine PER COMPANY according to the state rep that talked at our meeting last week. Abbott locked us down, and then allowed the TABC to destroy businesses with liquor licenses. He may be doing ok in some areas, but a lot of people in Texas are tired of constantly being stabbed in the back by Republicans they voted for.
Abbott went along with Fauci’s clown show for far too long and many of us will not forget it when primary elections come around next year. The closer the elections get the more Abbott acts as he should have all along. I don’t trust him to be the leader freedom minded Texans need in the upcoming rough years of disintegration of the FUSA.

The larger container ships cannot. Those ones going to and from East Asia will have to go around the Cape of Africa with a 2-3 week extension of the travel time. Sure this adds cost, but is far cheaper than sitting off of Long Beach for weeks at a time.
1) You're on the wrong thread. 2) It isn't cheaper: That's 2-3 weeks transit time, TIMES TWO for a round trip, through pirate-infested waters, plus additional fuel costs, plus wear-and-tear. It's a wash at best, and worse at worst. 3) Eventually, things will catch up. but the reality is there are less goods to move, because of business closures, so not ordering as much, nor producing as much.
Not counting the news outlets or websites along the full range of accuracy and veracity, I follow multiple actual individuals' handwritten blogs. (Bot news aggregators don't thrill me.) Looking them over, many are current serving or former military and a couple are some variation of high-speed low-drag elite forces ninjas. Or just funny as all. Because life without humor is just despair. So in other words, the same folks I trusted in the military not to wet the bed, sh*t themselves, or otherwise run around like headless Nancys, are the same folks I trust on the interwebz, for demonstrating pretty much the same trustworthiness and circumspectly responsible behavior. Color me shocked.

Gov. Abbott doesn't have a briquette list.
He has a flamethrower list.

There's a lot of dry tinder out there, and when that spark hits there will be a conflagration.

Allen West for Tex Gov and Don Huffines for LT Gov.
Abbott is a spineless cuck following candidate West's lead.

The only way this clog will drain is with time.
