As policy, it's got merit; however even as wet as it's been, there's always the danger of the fire spreading.
Hanging, however is a less energy intensive solution. Once gallows are erected, nooses fashioned and "clients" assembled; it's a very efficient means of reforming government. Quiet, reuseable; why, it might be "carbon neutral", whatever that's supposed to mean.
The last Brit hangman described his methods; much more effective than the classic 13-turn hemp noose. There is something to be said for tradition, though.
