Arguably one of the best things ever exported to the US from Australia, dead at 73, of her third bout with metastasized breast cancer, at her Santa Ynez CA home.
Quite simply one of the loveliest things to ever grace stage or screen, particularly at her career peak from the mid-70s to the late 80s. Anyone of a certain age who didn't crush on her a little in the day was gay or retarded.
Back at ya, ONJ.

She was lovely.
RIP, Darlin.

I'll have to disagree with you to a degree. While John was cute, I loathed the message of Grease that she conveyed: to get the man she wanted, she had to become a slut. As far as I'm concerned, she bears a little responsibility for the sewer that is now the US entertainment industry.
When Grease emerged from under the slimy rock of Hollywood in 1978, I was spending my nights working with F-4 nuclear delivery systems as an USAF weapons mechanic. When it was my turn to provide the music for 3rd shift in Armament Systems, I brought in albums from Mozart, Wagner, and Beethoven.
See also Julie Andrews(S.O.B.), Shirley Jones(The Partridge Family).
YMMV...
Grease was Broadway by way of Hollywood.
One mediocre musical does not a career make.
I had a crush on her just from listening to I Honestly Love You on the radio... and that jumped to serious crush when I first saw her on TV (Carson IIRC).
RIP
Excellent talent.

Or female, I suppose.
But, yeah ... gorgeous, and a gifted vocalist. Other than those, she didn't have anything going for her.
Thinking of her reminds me of another crush-ee from my coming-of-age years: Karen Carpenter. Ah, if I had a time machine, I'd go back to 1972 or so, and forcibly pour milkshakes down her throat. At least ON-J made it into her 70s. Sounds like a tough fight that she finally lost.
@Jim,
D'accord, mon ami.
I never got quite to crush - a little too perfect, too plastic, saccharine music.. yeah, as above I am "mostly Mozart" from way back.
