Sunny and Clear, With No Nukes Inbound

Ah, what a week.

Despite all the bad wishes and doom porn expended all over the blogosphere, no nukes are falling anywhere, and a lot of folks expecting the worst are really butthurt about that.

Even more folks got their white hoods and robes out of mothballs, and got them all wrinkled and dirty, for nothing.

Israel is satisfied Iran's nuke precursors are destroyed, to the point they agreed to stop bombing the Iranian f**ks back to the 6th century.

We're satisfied of that too, because we've seen the craters we put into their facilities.

Iran is convinced their nuke program is toast, to the point they agreed to stop dropping missile payloads on their favorite JOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooS!!!

People are so discombobulated by Trump ending a war with one phone call, they've forgotten to tell us that Russia's still winning after a mere 1219 days, and counting. Final Victory: Any Day Now™, just like for the previous 1218 days. At this rate, just imagine how much harder they'll be winning on Day 2000! Or 5000!

That's pretty conclusive evidence that 7 B-2s and a couple of SSNs with Tomahawks and a case of the ass, can end a war in about an hour, or your pizza is free.

But cheer up, pessimists: The Democommunists are only behind in either house of Congress by a few seats, and Dopey Joe still oversaw a few trillion dollars' worth of dollars printed three shifts a day, seven days a week, for pretty much four solid years.

So relax, secure in the knowledge that sooner or later, something huge will eventually shit the bed, and make all your apocalyptic fantasies come true, and you won't have all that stuff stocked up for nothing.

Things can always get worse.

Government's only happy when it's fucking things up massively, and our government is catering the biggest Happiness Party ever imagined, to a metaphysical certainty.

It's just not That Day. Yet.

Brushfires: It Isn't Just The Government, Stupid

 h/t Peter

If this is global warming, all I ask is a bag of marshmallows and a stout roasting spike.

As Bayou Renaissance Man noted, some other bloggers have offered explanations for the current fire situation hereabouts. Without questioning their bona fides on the topic, we have lived in the exact area in question our entire life (save for a few transitory changes of address required by Uncle Sam), and from time before Reagan was governor, let alone president. In our youth, we and some friends sat on our house roof and watched the hillsides gloriously aflame in all four cardinal directions at the same time, and watched 150' tall flames overtop those same hillsides. This is not a novel phenomenon, and we possess a wee bit more precise and firsthand handle on the situation, and a great deal more historical context than most.

While decades of flagrantly incompetent Democommunist government (but we repeat ourself) hereabouts has an undeniable share of the blame in the raging wildfires hereabouts, trying to portray the current fiasco solely, or even majorly, as government's fault is like trying to blame baseball bats for causing home runs.

Government's role in this is mainly as a symptom, not a root cause.

As we pointed out in comments to an earlier post on BRM, insurance companies abandoning coverage in Califrutopia was a net plus, not a terrible thing, because they were otherwise being forced to subsidize (on the backs of ordinary policyholders) rich, entitled idiots building mansions inches away from literal tons of fireload, in brush-choked wind-tunnel canyons that burn regularly for not years, not decades, not centuries, but for millennia, since Hammurabi himself was in diapers.

Having seen this phenomenon first-hand for half a century myself, my argument was simple:

Let the insurance companies allow the entitled idiots' homes to burn, with no coverage possible.

Then we'll have fewer entitled jackholes (you guess the missing word there), overwhelmingly - but not entirely - the exact same dancing monkeys in music, film, and television, on either side of the cameras and microphones whose serial idiocy you all rightfully loudly decry and castigate on these same blogs 24/7/265, buying or building homes in those same brush-clogged wind-tunnel canyons, which burn every 5-10 years with the predictability of the seasons, who like having brush and oak trees inches from their multi-million-dollar estates "because it looks pretty", who won't let cities use eminent domain to widen the narrow streets enough to permit emergency vehicles to access those streets even during minor emergencies, let alone brush fires the size of some cities, who elect more government idiots to oppose brush-clearing and controlled burns, simultaneously funding dope-smoking tree-hugging eco-lunatard hippies who oppose brush clearing and controlled burns because they think humans are the parasites who must be eliminated, nor ever vote for any politicians or measures that would fund sufficient infrastructure to make sure there's even water flowing out of the hydrants at the top of those canyons, like for example fixing the 10,000 water main breaks in L.A. unrepaired since the Northridge Earthquake thirty years ago - which is why random sinkholes keep cropping up all over Los Angeles - to use when you need it (like for the semi-annual brushfires that have happened here since Fr. Junipero Serra and Spanish conquistadors first arrived on the scene, and found out the local Indian name for the current San Fernando Valley was "The Valley that Smokes" because of perennial lightning-caused brushfires since time out of mind, thousands of years before Columbus' arrival on Hispaniola). Newsflash, Common-Core grads: there was smog over the Greater L.A. Basin and the adjoining valleys 200 years before the first car or gas station arrived here. You could look it up. History: still a thing.

These are the same entitled Leftard idiots who won't broom out the homeless, who camp in those same canyons smoking meth, and which drug-addicted losers are too tweaked out to notice that 50MPH gust during the regular Santa Ana winds just blew their hillside campfire into a raging inferno, causing five out of every ten fires, going back decades.

Hear me, God! Let those fires rage out of control and burn unrestricted, and weed out the surplus of morons (mostly deported or imported here from 49 other states and 85 other countries), and if possible, ship more morons into the fire zones while the flames rage out of control, to preclude having to deal with them after it's all over, with their upturned palms looking for government relief largely shaken down from the peons in this state and 49 others whom they moved to those canyon mansion to escape.

If we were governor for a day, the aerial tankers would be dropping napalm and aviation gasoline by the ton around the clock for the entire day, until the problem self-corrected, and the hillsides looked like Hiroshima on August 7th, 1945.

Oh, and the inevitable survivors of this disaster? No points for guessing who'll be back grifting next spring, when the scrubbed-bare hillsides turn into raging mudslides and flooding, crying to anyone who'll listen about how terrible is their lot in life, rather than having to attend mandatory public struggle sessions to own up to their stupid life choices and cranio-rectal impaction issues.

Never have so many delusional entitled morons so richly deserved to have been crapped upon from a great height by the Flying Fickle Finger Of Fate.

Even if you could wave a magic wand and instantly make the entirety of government in Califrutopia go away, you wouldn't fix the problem. For the same reason you could kill all the horses in the world, and years later you'd still have hundreds of millions of horses' asses.

You want to fix California? Bite the bullet: this is going to hurt.

Leave the government alone.

Because as always, politics is downstream from culture.

Just take back all your toothless banjo-playing kinfolk who weren't born here but have come in and f**ked the state up royally for the last 40 years, and deport the 15M illegal aliens your congressweasels and senators have not only ignored, but even encouraged (Lindsay Grahamnesty, Marco ScrewYoubio, call your offices), until they started being bussed into your towns and cities, and the government hereabouts will take care of itself. Just like it did without any further input from you for 130 years. The rest of the country has used this state as a giant demographic and economic tampon to catch all the outflow from the other 49 for nearly 50 years, and now you're all aghast about the toxic shock.

Own your own goddam mess. Admitting that is the first step to solving the problem.

If you'd stop sh*tting and pissing in our gene pool hereabouts, you'd be amazed how fast it would resemble a swimming pool instead of the nation's septic tank. Oh, and those carpetbaggers you bitch about? They weren't Californians when they moved here, and they still aren't now that they've moved on to piss and sh*t in your pool. Best wishes dealing with your own states purpling up because of them. Tag, you're it.

And in the short-term, please, let the entitled @$$holes' mansions burn to the ground. Ideally with them locked inside. And not a penny of relief funds for those grifters that survive. Tough love, we beseech you.

At best, it'll build some character, and at worst, it might kill metric fucktons of them. Or at least, induce them to move back home where they came from, and where they belong.

Win-win.

Off To An Excellent Start

h/t Mike

Gabbard and Gaetz are excellent picks by Trump, but if Gaetz hasn't indicted most of his predecessors and their underlings by next Valentine's Day, he's a waste of skin and oxygen. And the bloodletting next January at CIA and FBI should be best described as "biblical".

Gabbard should also publicly recommend that everyone who gaslighted the Hunter Biden laptop as "Russian disinformation" have their security clearances revoked immediately, and permanently, followed by Trump signing off on that. Perhaps the liars from the intel community can get jobs at McDonald's, instead of working on corporate boards and at defense contractors after their government disservice.

Thune, meanwhile, is just Yertle Jr. SS,DD.

The Senate is broken. Any Republican senator in place for more than two terms should be deliberately primaried out, in perpetuity, until we get a Senate that does the nation's business, instead of just lining their own pockets.

Revoking the Seventeenth Amendment in total as the constitutional abortion it has been since ever, and returning to the state legislatures appointing their senators, as specified in the Constitution originally, is the only remedy that will avail.

It would give states the voice in the federal government they currently lack (by exact Progressive design), and undo the demagoguery among senators, as legislatures could simply recall the loudmouthed idiots the minute they got too big for their britches.

It would also tip the Senate to at least 59-41 in favor of the [R]s, making a bombproof majority, and relegating ChuckYou Schumer and his cronies to impotently yapping from the back bench in 95% of all cases, while sweeping in a slate of federal judges at all levels slightly to the right of Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito, which would transform the country for the next two generations, and lead to judicially blocking and undoing literal metric fucktons of libtard stupidity that has accumulated nationwide since 1932.

That one act would fast-track getting our republic back.

The Seventeenth Amendment cannot be repealed soon enough.

Government Is The Problem. As Usual.

 h/t CW

Reference please the above pic from CW's daily timewaster site.

Yes, we're sure it's an idyllic place, with gorgeous views, and tucked right in amidst Nature on all sides. Which is rather exactly the problem with it. If we were to name such a homestead, on the order of Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, we would name this architectural act of insanity contrary to all common sense Kindling. Calling it Kingsford might be a wee bit too on-the-nose.

My absolutely curmudgeonly response:

"In a canyon, with a wood shake roof. And dead leaves all over it. Might as well just stack full gas cans against the outside walls. And violating just about every other survivability measure in a wildfire zone.

And some fall, the tearful owner will be "Shocked! Shocked, I say..." that's it's about to become a monument to human stupidity during a major brushfire.

This is why some areas should be declared unbuildable, all fire protection withdrawn completely, home insurance legally denied in perpetuity with the full backing of the state, and the entire area redlined from ever receiving a penny of federal disaster relief.

If you can absorb the cost to rebuild it every ten or twenty years out of your own pocket when it inevitably burns to the ground, ROWYBS.

Otherwise, once it burns down and the owner can't eat the cost to put it back, rebuilding permits are denied forever, and it reverts to permanent wild habitat by eminent domain, and the owner given $1/acre.

Now show some rich stupid jackhole's house perched over the waves and built beyond the mean high tide line that gets surf-pummeled by storms every generation or so."

And then, inevitably, Anonymous Yahoo (funny how they're almost always Anonymous, i'n'it?) pipes up:

"But also we are totally opposed to government intervention in people's private lives! Do we know that this property is in a location where brushfires are common? Seems like you want to confiscate these people's property based on a picture. But again, small government and "don't tread on me" or something"

To which load of halt-witted codswallop we reply:

"1) "Totally opposed"? No. Never said any such thing. You conflate "minimal" with "anarchy" at risk to your own argument, with a heaping helping of reductio ad absurdum. Best wishes with that approach.

2) Those are oak trees, growing in a canyon. Brushfire city. Period.

3) I don't want the property confiscated until Reality makes it obvious it never should have been built upon to begin with.

It was jackassical government greed that let some mid-century idiot build there in the first place, to maximize the county's taxable property value. Which then requires more brush crews to save it, and more roads to maintain to get to it.And then more disaster funds when it repeatedly gets burned up.

Government created this problem.

Smaller government would start by ripping out the paved road that gets there, closing the nearest fire stations, condemning the land, and turning it into permanent natural habitat. But that breaks five or ten government rice bowls, and gets entitled idiots all riled up.
I've only seen this about 5M times in my lifetime in this state.

If some idiot wants to build his own private road, or make do by getting supplies in and out by pack mule, and carries the liability for such an idiotic house out of his own pocket, that should be the only way that place gets built.

Dollars to donuts the owner also gets all bent up when coyotes eat his pets, and mountain lions start eyeing his kids, and screams to Uncle Government to "do something". Then pisses and moans when the local fire department tells him that with trees and brush 20' from the house, they've already written it off when a fire breaks out. And he's likely the first in line at the trough when they declare a "disaster" (as opposed to "natural causes x human stupidity", which is also the plot recipe for every episode of Rescue 9-1-1, USCG: Cape Disappointment, and 57 other reality-based shows) once his house is a charred chimney surrounded by ashes.

It was big government that started such nonsense, A to Z, in the first place. Like people along the Mississippi found out a few years back, some places shouldn't have houses on them, ever, unless there's an annual stupidity tax on the property equal to 100% of its assessed value.

If government withdraws all services to such parcels save tax assessments, and cancels utility easements, which currently start a goodly number of brushfires up there in competition with lightning (you could look it up) the problem self-corrects within years, if not months, with no further effort nor public expenditure.

That's minimal government.

Your ball.

For a vivid exemplar of this sort of stupidity right now, google "Rancho Palos Verdes landslide zone", and read up about the latest batch of entitled idiots with more money than common sense, currently pissing, moaning, and harrumphing that gravity has annoyingly reasserted itself in their multi-million-dollar cliffside neighborhood, and demanding that government somehow stop it, and/or recompense them from public funds for their idiotic residential choices.

Boo frickin' hoo."

QED, podex.

Doubtless we'll be seeing further examples from FL and the Gulf Coast in a day or three as well, crying about "How dare Nature impinge upon our desire to build substandard houses in stupid places! Government should pay us for being that dumb!" in 3, 2...

We apologize to CW for buggering up his site with the second entry, or having to. Should he choose to zap all of the above back and forth into oblivion, we wouldn't blame him. His house, his choices. Which is why we moved it here, in case he does exactly that.

The annoyance at idiots who build such houses where they don't belong, purely out of presumption on the public's funds and good wishes, deserves calling out, which is why we have done so.

Ditto the air-headed thoughtlessness of Anonymous Yahoo's asinine riposte. But the lack of critical thinking which underpins such opinions bespeaks that the left end of the IQ bell curve continues to be over-represented both in real life, and on the internet. As always.

As my father pointed out more than once, "You could get rid of all the horses in the world, but you'd still never run out of horses' asses."

Dumb Shit Time

 h/t SiG

Daylight Savings Time, perhaps a good idea for five minutes when everyone milked cows and worked on a farm 80 years ago, is just insufferable dumb shit today (hence DST:Dumb Shit Time), an insufferable idea whose time has come, and looooong ago gone. The sumbitch who thought of it should get to rot in hell an extra hour every day for eternity.

So, after hearing the will of the people, your elected Grand Nitwits voted unanimously.

Not to end it. F**k no, that would have been too easy.

They voted to make it permanent, forever.

M*****f*****g jackassical dipshits.

WhoTF asked for that?

Literally No One.

This is High Jackassery of the Foullest Sort.

If Emperor Poopypants had the wit to veto this monstrous bit of shitheadedness, he'd go up 20 points in the polls, getting him almost to 2% approval. (DNC, call your office.) And we could let those @$$holes take a whack at voting us into nationwide STANDARD TIME (hence the name) instead, forever, amen.

But instead, those senatorial halfwits (but I repeat myself) will send this bill over with a case of pudding pops, and Gropey Dopey will be in a sugar coma when Jill, or some personal attendant, autopens it into perpetuity, and we'll never be rid of this God-damned asinine travesty.

And who sponsored this idiocy?

Marco Screwyoubio, of course.

If ever there was a Manchurian Candidate who should have been deported to Cuba, he is surely it. Thanks for nothing, Floridiots. Now we're even for Fineswine.

Government, doing what it does best: Screwing EVERYBODY, FOREVER.

Government Spending We'd Like

We read that the DemoCommunists want to fund a Civilian Climate Corps to combat globull warmism.

Yet all is not lost.

Provided the program proposes to collect up 50,000-100,000 of the most strident of the deluded Chicken Little kooks still preaching that unmasked con-job, and send them with buckets of water to the Sun via rocket ship, we state for the record that we will sign their petition, purchase their newsletter, and march in their parade the day the first hundred or so are duly launched into space for a rendezvous with the morning sun. Will further pledge to add a 10% sweetener to our stipend for the program provided they live-televise the crews' arrival at Sol to begin work to combat rising planetary temperatures at the source. The planetary IQ hereabouts would go up 5 points a shipment, indefinitely.

We also wouldn't mind if they referred to it as the Civilian Climate Corps Program, officially.

The acronym CCCP is manifestly appropriate for anything to do with such Leftarded hogwash.

Stop Me If You've Heard This One...

Go to the linked pdf to see this readable. Warning: May induce nausea.

Oh, the whole COVID-19 Kung Flu thing keeps on getting better.
CDC COVID-19 Quarantine Algorithm

Per CDC, unless the person of interest is actually direct from Hubei, China, or a healthcare worker exposed to someone proven by laboratory test to have COVID-19, the risk is assumed to be moderate to nothing.

A person from here, and who was infected by someone else here, who could have full-blown Kung Flu any day now, is dictated by this asinine algorithm to present NO INDENTIFIABLE RISK(!!). "The Great and Powerful Oz Has Spoken!"

No, really.

This happy horseshit from the same @$$clowns who told you in 2014
"Ebola will never get here"
"If it gets here, we can handle it"
"Any hospital with isolation can do this".

When you keep asking retards the same questions, it's a mark of insanity to expect different results.
And when you're banging your head against the wall, it feels so good to stop.
As I told you in the Gilligan Effect comments, the solution to the castaways' ongoing problem is simply to kill Gilligan in S1E1.

The CDC is apparently populated entirely by Gilligans.

Kabuki Psuedosecurity Theater.
You have to admire the chutzpah of people doing spot checks for
fever for a disease that sometimes doesn't present with fever, and
has a 2-14 DAY latent incubation stage. Almost like they were
deliberately TRYING to spread the infection worldwide within
 a couple of months.

See how long before this inescapable problem bears permanent, ongoing fruit.

(80/20 CDC stands for "C**ks**kers Dumber than Clowns".)

Top. Men.

If some of them seem familiar, you may have met them when they were the
2104 Ebola Response Planning Group. Why break up a winning team??

So, originally, the quarantine camps (and, presumably treatment centers) for those exposed to or positive for coronavirus were supposed to be Travis AFB in NorCal, and March ARB is So Cal.

Which, being both long-time military bases, and former SAC bases, have built in safety, security, and seclusion, plus obviously being airbases, making transport in and out stupid simple, and with the post Cold War drawdown, both bases having ample unused space to erect an ad hoc quarantine camp within the confines.

And then, 50-IQ (I'm being sporting) federal officials with CDC et al got some wild hare soopergenius idea to suddenly move 50 people known to be infected with full-blown coronavirus infection to the former Fairview Developmental Center in Costa Mesa, once a giant campus for short-bus kids, and abandoned for years recently. (Because who wouldn't want to dump a bunch of people suffering this year's probable global pandemic right in the center of Orange County a few miles from Disneyland, instead of on a dingy old military base with SAC-level fences and perimeter security, amirite?)

And then the city of Costa Mesa, in which it is located, got wind of the scheme, and they asked a few teensy questions.

Questions like:
1) The facility has been abandoned and idle for years, nigh onto a decade. The toilets don't flush, the water doesn't run, there's no power, and nothing's been in service for years. So how, exactly, do you propose to get water, power, sewage and waste disposal service, and a few million other things there up and running, in 24 hours or less? Were you going to magically pull all that out of your ass, Uncle Sugar,...or what?

2) What's your containment plan for this? The facility, in the middle of residential neighborhoods, is contiguous to high-density apartments and a public golf course, with two schools nearby. Just wondering?

3) So, if something - anything - happens there once you bring in the infected patients, and someone dials 9-1-1, how, exactly, did you contemplate we're going to respond to the scene of a known international pandemic biohazard site? And where would we take new victims, as opposed to just leaving them right there?

4) What local hospital(s) will be co-operating with and assisting with care there?

5) How were you planning on dealing with the metric f**ktons of biohazard waste?

6) How many people did you imagine you could put there, and for how long?

7) What's your master plan for decon when and if the site is closed down?

And a few hundred other basic and pertinent questions, to which, apparently, the answer from the Black Gaping Maw of Fedholia was, "Fuck all if we know!"

And then sanity made an appearance, and a federal judge stepped in at the request of the city in question, issuing an immediate restraining order on executing any such jackassical "plan", until such time as the feds have the slightest wild clue about WTH they're doing, and how they'll accomplish it, and can explain it all in open court in blistering detail.

The question I want answered is What effing jet-fuel genius thought they could just whistle up a derelict abandoned state facility, and turn it into a biohazard refugee camp and instant hospital, on an effing whim?!?!?
And WTH would anyone suddenly decide that two underutilized former SAC bases were "unsuitable" for people known to be infected with Kung Flu???
This smacks of bureaucratic retards finger-banging the pie because they could, and dollars to donuts, from 3000 miles away, in a windowless bastion of stupidity impenetrable to common sense.
Even using Alcatraz Federal Prison makes more bare sense than this, and it's been derelict for nearly as long, but if anyone is serious, the correct answer is either an under-used military base, exactly as originally planned, or a scratch-built purposefully-designed biohazard facility out in the desert, miles from anyone else, surrounded by layers of concertina containment and a moat.

No one's copping to burping out this asinine plan to dump them into vacant acreage amidst millions of people literally just yards away, which leads one to believe someone in Washington District of Criminals is spilling industrial quantities of blood out of the fresh cleat holes in his own junk right about now.

The inescapable answer is that one of the former residents of Camp Retard grew up, got a job with FEMA or the CDC, and thought moving 50-2000 infected patients into his old Camp Snoopy home would work like a charm. Because FedGov.

Apparently thinking about things like personnel, operations, logistics, and medical basics, not to mention site security, was never thought of. Not once. Not even as an afterthought.

And just to be scrupulously fair, there is probably no place whatsoever in Los Angeles or Orange Counties - none at all - where anyone with more than two functional brain cells (which automagically de-selects 99.98% of government workers out of the decision tree) could or should contemplate placing people with coronavirus, for any articulable reason on God's green earth, that would withstand five seconds' intelligent scrutiny. Unless you were a military biowar planner trying to optimize the spread of the virus in about 0.2 seconds.

Sleep tight, America.
Once again, we've put our biggest dumbasses and @$$clowns right in the lead on this outbreak.
What could possibly go wrong?

And when you start getting all black helicopter about how this started in China, try to remember that their government officials are even less sophisticated and intelligent than ours.

QED

Dear FedGov: Word to your mother:
It's bad enough that you clearly are using baboons throwing darts to come up with your emergency plans, in about 99.99832% of documented actual events.
But it's probably far worse to find out, publicly like this, that both the baboons, and their keepers, are being fed a steady diet of crack cocaine, LSD, and Thunderbird.

Here There Be Morons

There's no picture for today's post, because you never have a camera handy when you really need it. So today, you're going to use your imagination (assisted by my Paint skills) to supply the shot I don't have.

Onboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, there are the rifle ranges familiar to everyone in the Corps on the West Coast, at Edson Range. The entire complex sits right next to Interstate 5, across from the relatively new USN LCAC facility. You can see acres of rifle ranges from the freeway if you know where you're looking for them, and nearer the interstate, multiple barracks used by countless recruit platoons on their three-week pilgrimage from MCRD San Diego for rifle training. And even closer to the freeway than that, sits the massive mess hall, to feed those recruits three squares a day during their range weeks. Around that mess hall on one side is a huge cement patio, for recruit platoons to form up on as their members finish their meals. It's surrounded by an even bigger swath of lawn, all within eyesight of the freeway as well.

And right at the border between cement and grass, there sits a wooden sign, about 4' tall, on a 2' square board, all painted in classic USMC scarlet. On it, in 1"-2" high brilliantly contrasting gold, are military stencil letters, with a blisteringly simple message, and that message is the illustration for today's post, as the photograph I never got to take:

I didn't need to pull down heat from the drill instructors when I saw this sign, by asking them why such a sign would be necessary. I knew why, without ever being told (as does anyone who ever spent five seconds in any branch of the military. Even the Air Farce or the Notional Guard):

The sign was there, out in front of God and everybody, because at least once - and probably more than that - some total fuckwit had been standing at ease waiting to get marched back to barracks, and decided out on the concrete at the edge of the lawn, a couple of hundred yards from a busy interstate, that the perfect place to make a head call (that's Marine lingo for relieving one's bladder) was - of course! - right out there at the grassy boundary of the lawn, in plain sight of not just the entire passing conga lines of traffic, but in front of a veritable glass wall of windows of the mess hall, with every officer and drill instructor in plain sight sitting on the other side to keep an eye on you. And at least once, someone had done so.

Your imagination's wildest dreams of the ass-chewing that followed cannot begin to conjure the retribution visited on Pvt. Dipshit at that point, but not least among the several consequences to the event was the creation of the aforementioned sign, as sure as apples fall off apples trees.

The lesson, gentle readers, is thus:
When you see a sign like that, you have discovered the boundary between people with common sense, and where begins the territory inhabited by thorough-going fucktards.
And those fucktards are legion.

It's true in basic training in the military, and it's true in the rest of the world.
I could offer dozens of everyday non-military examples, but just two more will suffice:

Remove shirt before ironing.

Warning: wearing cape does not enable user to fly.

Whenever you encounter boilerplate warning designed for people with mid double-digit IQs, you have discovered how many fuckwit minions live and move amongst you every day.

No one asks why these warning are there, because like me in boot camp, they know why without being told:
Because we suffer morons daily, and have to mollycoddle them, lest they injure themselves, and then sue, or do any thousand and one idiotic acts, then act all surprised when gravity works.

Coffee at McDonald's that's hot. (Who knew??)
Notes on silica gel packets (and now Tide Pods) that say: Do Not Eat.
The "bible" of instructions for the terminally stupid engraved on the barrel of every Ruger firearm.
And on and on.

And when, perchance, you decide that the local walk-up window is a good place to carry your battle rifle inside city limits, but outside the bounds of the common sense of even ordinary morons, you invite government, in its ham-fisted way, to put up another "Do Not Urinate Here" sign. Like they will, and like they do. Blame asshole parents, a public education system that would embarrass Neanderthals, and people with the manners of billy goats who were raised on a womb bill of fare of fetal alcohol syndrome and a steady pre-teen diet of lead paint chips, and being dropped on their heads multiple times before hitting third grade.

But for whatever reason, stupid people breed, usually far out of proportion to the non-jackassical, and even rampant Darwinism in action can't kill them fast enough to keep the mean IQ of the human race in the low triple digits, hardly anywhere.

So laws like the one mentioned yesterday aren't the slippery slope you imagine, they are, in fact, the efforts of the middling bright (which is government on its best day, as anyone who's seen it close-up can testify) to erect, not a slippery slope, but a steep cliff warning to demarcate the line between the sensible and the egregiously stupid. And people still fall over the edge daily. Sometimes, hourly.

One of maybe 100,000 Fail videos available on YouTube,
besides thousands of hours of the TV show COPS.

Yes, government, given sunlight and water, like all weeds, will metastasize, but let's be fair here: so will stupid people.

Don't believe me: go to any public restroom. Or day care playroom. Or the movies. Or any public highway.

You wanna bitch about your rights? Start by telling me what responsibilities those rights carry.

The Second Amendment conveys no rights, and revoking it outright changes but one thing: the recognition that some rights pre-date all written law, and the duty of government is only legitimate when it protects those natural law rights.

But left unwritten, and no less valid, is the natural law right that you don't get to use your rights as an excuse to be a jackass in public with them. You can swing your fist, but only as far as the next person's nose. And if you do it often enough, even if you stop short, swinging right up to the edge of someone else's nose is going to get you decked, for cause. More so, from mores more ancient than Philadelphia in 1787, where women and children are concerned.

So before someone starts blathering about how this law or that law is a foul, horrific exercise in eventually loading you into a boxcar and fluoridating your drinking water, let's maybe start out by recognizing that letting the biggest morons in society loose and free, and letting them define the boundaries of intelligent behavior, is more than a little bit to blame for the 40 shelf-yards of legal code and regulations you've lived under your entire life in a nominally "free" country.

No, we shouldn't need 39.99998 yards of that law, and we can all wish it weren't so, but over there, at the boundary of society between grass and concrete patio, there's some fucktard making a large wet yellow spot, and screwing it up for everybody, and three chances out of five, it's your own Cousin Dipshit with his tackle out, providing the precise excuse for that sign.

Own that, stop arguing theoretical hypothetical cases where all men are rational and moral, and start living in the real world where they're the exact irrational fuckwits we meet 24/7/365 in the real world.

Then we can talk.

Start with two competing thoughts, both absolutely and equally true:

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." - John Adams

Our country's Founders knew the absolute truth of both thoughts, and that's precisely why our Constitution took the form it did.
Bear that in mind before you present some ersatz hagiographized version of it as reality.
You're wrong, and you'll just piss off people brighter than you are, for trying.

More Taxation Via Ski Mask

Borepatch takes a walk down memory lane regarding the Tobacco Settlement.
Governments love to tax. It's one of the few things they do well. Taxing cigarettes and booze is a historical specialty of governments local, state, and federal.
Those taxes are collected for doing nothing. The government doesn't grow anything. It doesn't have a factory. It takes no business risks. It just collects money from the sale of tobacco on a state and federal average of $2.70 a pack. I know the tobacco companies are making a lot of money. I think smoking is terrible. It's the governments that are profiting the most off tobacco sales.

RTWT.

And now OK and others want to transfer that model to Big Pharma, because reasons.

Again, this isn't The War On (Some) Drugs.
They never even used that as a pretext.

It's a War On Business, with the real aim being solely to fund bigger government. Any pubic benefit is and was no part of either equation, except by way of excuse-making and straw-grasping.

Nota bene the aim of Okiehoma statists is to use the J&J settlement to fund government treatment programs, and local government entities, from the state down, not to actually compensate or make whole the alleged victims, let alone not being addressed from any rationale that the effect was caused by the defendants.

It's a naked tax grab from innocent parties, being shaken down solely because they had a fat wallet.
This differs from daylight armed robbery...how, exactly?

This is simply taxation (in fact, a bill of attainder specifically against J&J via judiciary, which is doubly illegal) without requiring a bill for it to go through the state legislature. Instead of requiring a bill that garnered the support of 99 members of the OK legislature (67 reps and 32 senators) and was then signed by the governor, all of them responsible directly to the people, they only had to bamboozle one lackwit judge (with which clearly Okiehoma, like every state, is oversupplied) and presto! they get a windfall with none of that icky public accountability.
It should be overturned for a host of reasons, but on that ground alone would be sufficient cause to do so.

The Clinton administration and 50 states' legislature did the same thing with tobacco, and got away with it because every hog had his nose in that trough. But cigarettes aren't the same thing at all, morally or financially, as prescription medication, except that costs for the latter will be passed on directly, and forever, exactly as cigarette taxes are, but this time on everyone.

And BTW, if you don't think those cigarette taxes got tacked on to your Chips Ahoy and Oreos from RJR/Nabisco too back then (eventually forcing the conglomerate to break apart because of that tobacco settlement), just like J&J's hit will go onto the price of every box of Band-Aids forever, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Faster, Please

With the return of an actual competent (and conscious, rather than catatonic) U.S. Attorney General in that post, and his office back in full command of its constitutional powers and authority, we note with considerable glee the announcement this week that FedGov will resume executing the wastes of skin currently sitting on federal Death Row.

The sooner those oxygen thieves make their manners to the Almighty, and their room and board is no longer laid across the back of taxpayers everywhere, the better and healthier will be the republic.

Pity they didn't total them up, and announce dates for all of them, starting tomorrow. As it is, the next five to be judicially whacked will depart in December and January next. Just in time for Christmas!

And when The Man asking for the drugs required also holds the keys to the license to sell drugs, nationwide, we expect this will be the overdue end of the horsesh*t and shenanigans, whereby states have been shut out of getting the potions required by law to do the necessary deed. (In our occasionally esteemed opinion, the default, at that point, should be a choice of either rope, or bullets.)

If AG Barr could announce to the President and people of the U.S. that as of Date XX, there would be no one remaining on federal Death Row, it would be a happy day, and a reminder that we still had some shreds of a functioning legal system, particularly if the snail's pace of the process became a daily drumbeat of certainty.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

UPDATE: From Free North Carolina, a synopsis of the five slated to come up to bat in December:
Daniel Lewis Lee, a member of a white supremacist group, murdered a family of three, including an eight-year-old girl. After robbing and shooting the victims with a stun gun, Lee covered their heads with plastic bags, sealed the bags with duct tape, weighed down each victim with rocks, and threw the family of three into the Illinois bayou. On May 4, 1999, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas found Lee guilty of numerous offenses, including three counts of murder in aid of racketeering, and he was sentenced to death. Lee's execution is scheduled to occur on Dec. 9, 2019.

Lezmond Mitchell stabbed to death a 63-year-old grandmother and forced her nine-year-old granddaughter to sit beside her lifeless body for a 30 to 40-mile drive. Mitchell then slit the girl's throat twice, crushed her head with 20-pound rocks, and severed and buried both victims' heads and hands. On May 8, 2003, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona found Mitchell guilty of numerous offenses, including first degree murder, felony murder, and carjacking resulting in murder, and he was sentenced to death. Mitchell's execution is scheduled to occur on Dec. 11, 2019.

Wesley Ira Purkey violently raped and murdered a 16-year-old girl, and then dismembered, burned, and dumped the young girl's body in a septic pond. He also was convicted in state court for using a claw hammer to bludgeon to death an 80-year-old woman who suffered from polio and walked with a cane. On Nov. 5, 2003, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri found Purkey guilty of kidnapping a child resulting in the child's death, and he was sentenced to death. Purkey's execution is scheduled to occur on Dec. 13, 2019.

Alfred Bourgeois physically and emotionally tortured, sexually molested, and then beat to death his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. On March 16, 2004, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas found Bourgeois guilty of multiple offenses, including murder, and he was sentenced to death. Bourgeois' execution is scheduled to occur on Jan. 13, 2020.

Dustin Lee Honken shot and killed five people — two men who planned to testify against him and a single, working mother and her ten-year-old and six-year-old daughters. On Oct. 14, 2004, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa found Honken guilty of numerous offenses, including five counts of murder during the course of a continuing criminal enterprise, and he was sentenced to death. Honken's execution is scheduled to occur on Jan. 15, 2020.

I don't care what color any of them are. I don't care if they found God, or turned their lives around in the slammer.
They need to be dead, Dead, DEAD. Like yesterday.
Five is just warming up.

And speaking of warm, one order of piping hot 5' long party sub sh*t sandwich to asstard Dubbya, for letting things lapse in 2003.
No excuse.

He should have started pushing them out of C-130s at altitude as an interim measure.

Where I Am, And Why I'm Staying

In reference to this thread over at Wirecutter's Knuckledraggin' My Life Away, about a new CA-compliant mag (reviewed by Tam, no less, review linked in the OP) to workaround the latest semi-auto "assault rifle" frenzy in state capitol Excremento, CA, bloghost Kenny and I have gone back and forth.

And when I write a reply this long, you can damned sure bet it's going to be a post here, because laziness, or thrift. I killed and cooked these electrons, and now they're on the menu here.

So please, read the OP and the replies over there, and then join our show, already in progress:

"First, terminology:
When I say ARs I mean CA's misnamed "assault rifles" of all types.
There are easily 10M of those floating around.
One retailer in SoCal has been selling 1000-1500/week for over 10 years. That's 3+M right there.

But as the Legos of the gun world, AR-15 clones are definitely the most numerous.
The people that own them own multiples.
At one point a full-built AR-15 clone was cheaper than most decent handguns from the Big Three.
Guys would walk in and buy 10 AR-clone lowers for $500-700, then have the completion parts - uppers, lower parts kits, etc. - (all not a firearm) shipped to their door.
I know multiple people who have enough to fill a military armory rack or two, and they're average.
Varmint/target shooter, couple of telescoping stock M-4geries, solid stock, .300 Blackout, 2-4 in pistol calibers from 9mm to .45, and then got bit by the .308/AR-10 bug.
It adds up.
That's not 25% of the state's pop., probably more like a couple of million folks, but it's a crapton of rifles, and I've seen it at gun counters times beyond counting, as a customer, and as occasional help.
I won't say how many I have, or had, but I've sold two extras, and have a number of unbuilt lowers just gathering dust, besides the rifles.
And I'll probably buy some more de-nutted featureless ones just to have something I can take to a local range.
The only place I can't shoot non-conforming ones is in-state, in public.
Private land ranges are catch me-fuck me if I dared, but pulling the takedown pins, and going to Vegas or AZ with boxes of parts is a semi-annual event. It takes 5 minutes to make a shootable rifle, and five more to make it a gaggle of parts I can own but not assemble in-state. So I break no laws coming nor going.
And I can attend courses out-of-state anywhere I want to drive.
If someone can't afford a tank of gas and a weekend off, I feel for them.
And yeah, this state's going to go broke, and self-destruct. I'm counting on it. And I'm not alone.
But I'll surrender this portion of American territory to the people making it Calizuela when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
I'm glad you're happy where you are, really I am, but I was born here, and I'll die here. And when the whole rotten Stalinist wet dream they've fornicated it into being comes down in a flaming wreck, I like my odds of getting my state back, because no one in the other 49 is going to give two wet farts to helping them out when they go bankrupt. Please, don't!
That's a feature to me, not a bug.
Hate on the Leftards in Excremento all you like; I share your opinion of them. There is nothing too evil, too stupid, or both, that they wouldn't do.
And them going down like Soviet Russia is the plan. It happens every time it's been tried.
Maybe grandkids can experience what this state was like when I grew up here. Once 10M illegals self-deport, and the toothless banjo-playing misfits of liberalism from the Other 49 move back in with their cousins, because there's no more welfare gravy train here.
Just don't hate on people because they don't want to join you in your Appalachian paradise. (Besides, if we all did that, and TN's population was doubled by refugee "Californians", you'd hate it, the locals' kids would be priced out of their home state, and you'd just want to move again, amirite?) There's really no place to run in the long run. And if TN starts getting stupid, like FL and TX and ID and MT are already doing, where to next...? (Oh, and bonus points, even though it won't be your fault, you'll be blamed anyway as being one of those " damned Californians who f****d up the state" you're in now if/when that happens. Even though that will probably be New Yorkers other east coast city folk and such.)
I wish it was actual Californians crapping in their punchbowl (for any value of that from Oregon to Florida); it'd be fair return for what their misfit cousins did to CA.
I'm happy for anyone who's happy where they live, especially those who love their home state, natural or adopted. I've seen most of this country, and there's plenty of reason to like where you are, wherever that is. (Buffalo and Cleveland probably excepted.)
But I'm pissed as hell about what's been done to mine, and I plan on being an ornery disagreeable sonofabitch to those that are screwing that pooch here until I see them on fire, or swinging from lampposts.
Pensions alone are going to blow the whole thing up in a few more years, if the entire world's economy doesn't take the mother of all sh*ts first.
And then, those readily-convertible-but-legal-now ARs may come in kind of handy.
Which is exactly what keeps @$$holes like CA senators Fineswine and Kneepads up sleepless at night.
I hope you can understand that, even though it's not the course of action you chose.
And I salute the makers of any device, like the magazine mentioned in the OP that sabotages our would-be overlords' attempts to de-gun the populace. The lazy asstards who decided CA was "too hard" to sell products to can kiss my @$$, eat sh*t, and die.
But the ones who've gone out of their way to monkeywrench socialism here from where they are, like his holiness, St. Ronnie Barrett, who made a CA-compliant M-82 that isn't a .50BMG just to piss off the liberals in this state, and won't repair cop .50BMGs until they let civilians here buy them, are rock stars.
Thanks for the time and the space, Kenny.
And keep doing what you do.
It's funny as hell every day, and a better news source than ABCNNBCBS and Drudge, combined, whether you meant for it to be or not.

Yeah, About That "0 Miles" B.S....

h/t Conservative Treehouse

Once again proving that getting your information on what's going on at the actual border from Ann Coulter, living in NYFC, or the MSM, HQ'ed in NYFC, probably isn't the best way to keep up with what's actually happening on the border with effing Mexico.

So much for idiotic and jackassical "0 miles built" tweets.

We told you this months ago, but apparently the RNC has suddenly realized there was an information gap.

So as usual, you can believe ABCNNBCBS, and Ann Coulter's inaccurate whinging; or your lying eyes.

Dear Mr. President:

Please keep the non-essential parts of government shut down until Queen Alzheimers and Chuck U cough up another $5-10B for this wall. Even if it takes until 2021.

Having a border is what makes us a country, instead of the world's sucker.

Signed,
The United States Of America

Government, Being Itself

h/t IOTW Report

IOW, being fascist fucktards who can't read the US Constitution.

If you plan to attend the Boo Bash in the Detroit suburb of Oak Park on Halloween, you can be a ghost, goblin, zombie, vampire or any other character that you wish, but you can’t be a clown.
City officials have banned clown costumes because they are too scary.
The annual Boo Bash is held at the city’s community center. The city’s public invitation invites people to “enjoy cider and donuts” at the trick-or-treating event. Kids are invited to wear their favorite costume, but the invitation says “clown costumes are not allowed.”
Newsflash, jackholes: If you're holding a public event, to which costumes are allowed for adults, you don't get to specify the ones you allow, any more than you can dictate what other forms of expression you'll allow at a public meeting. Shocking as it may seem to the D- student h.s. grads who tend to occupy government jobs coast to coast, even in MI, the First Amendment still applies, as it does in the other 57 states, courtesy of incorporation to the states under the Fourteenth Amendment. This means that when they f**k with someone who shows up as a clown, they will get a curb-stomping in court, and the taxpayers will get anally raped, if necessary all the way to SCOTUS, for the ensuing legal bills and civil damage award. Freedom of speech is like that. Welcome to America.

If I lived 2000 miles closer, I'd go dressed as Bozo, with the mayor's name across my shoulders, and sit back and wait for the scholarship and retirement fund to be fully funded, courtesy of both the ACLU and the city government. If 200 such individuals respond thusly, they have my full blessing. They're going to win a legal windfall over this.

Well played, sh*t-for-brains city government minions.

What It's All About

Who cares what happened 36 years ago?
And why bother sticking up for Brett Kavanaugh, since he's really just another Deep State Bush-era freedom raping @$$hole?
TINVOWOOT: There Is No Voting Our Way Out Of This
FUSA: Former USA
Muh Constitution: that worthless scrap of parchment that's a total failure

These are the whines and whinges of nominally the "good" side, anywhere you go online.
The "bad" side is even more delusional.
People who think they've got their heads on straight seriously spew exactly what I opened with, and somewhere, in the tiny inner sanctum of their minds, they think they really believe it, and that it's all true.

Wake up call, ladies: you're wrong, and that's all a pantload of rubbish. Get your butthurt crème - the BIG tub - handy if this battalion time-on-target just X-ringed your CP.

(And BTW, the fact that on these grounds, you find yourself in perfect alignment with the whims and wants of the Leftard zombie hordes should have been reason enough to re-think your clever philosophizing. But many of you aren't that smart. You might want to put some ice on that, it's going to swell otherwise.)

If you've never travelled, seldom read, and have no sweet f**king clue, you currently live in the freest country on the planet. In Britain, Tommy Robinson was jailed for simply pissing the government off. France has decreed that the head of the opposition conservative nationalist party must undergo a psychological evaluation for her opinions on the government's insane policies. In Sweden, where I'd be the James/Younger Gang, Machinegun Kelly, the Clyde Barrow Gang, and the Capone mob, single-handedly, they've outlawed offensive memes. That's right, the country that hosts the rape capitol of Europe, the birthplace of Abba, great meatballs, and a number of Nobel prize-winning scientists back in their long-extinct glory years, has declared their entire country a safe space, because their snowflakes can't handle a goddam picture that pisses someone off! Genius, right there.

And those are the pinnacle states of the rest of the world. It descends from there, through Turd World Shitholias and Trashcanistans. In Mexico, immediately south, for nearly a century you could vote for anyone you liked, as long as they were in the PRI party. Now, they have additional choices, including the cartels, and the system is so corrupt, the citizens have illegally armed themselves to fend off both the drug cartels, who cut peoples' heads off for sport, and the government "officials" who rob them all blind with both hands, and have since...oh, wait, ever in Mexico.

Before that, the ruling class would simply pick a certain number of folks to donate their beating heart in regular ritual sacrifices. Much like the IRS does now, here, minus the lawyers or pretense of a fair court.

(And BTW, we should be smuggling weapons to arm those pueblitos, and sending in ODAs to teach them how to shove a running chainsaw up both the cartels' and the government's @$$. Ditto for shitholes like Venezuela and Cuba. Our job is to see that freedom breaks out, there and anywhere, and it isn't going to happen there any different than it did here, nor ever has in recorded history. But that's another topic for another time.)

Anywhere else you go, in ways you cannot begin to fathom unless you've either been there, and seen it firsthand, or informed yourself adequately, is some degree of shithole, and they always have been.

You can peddle any amount of gainsaying bullshit in opposition to that reality, but facts are stubborn things. While some people ascend from the deeper shitholes to some of shallower rank, everyone with the option tries to come one place: here.

For money, or greater economic freedom, but life, liberty and property were always the entire point of this experiment. If that's news to you, go back and punch your civics teachers in the throat for lying to you, or failing to mention that fact. (If they concealed that truth because they were the usual socialist commie bastards, kick them in the junk too; they've got it coming.)

Asinine immigration policies aside, we annually accept more legal immigrants than the rest of the world does combined, and we have since forever. There's no equivalent to Ellis Island anywhere else on the planet, for a reason. In the words of Neil Diamond, They comin' to America! Granted, with the additional burden of unhindered illegal immigration, that's far more of a bug than a feature, but it is nonetheless an undeniable fact.

And it was true for three centuries before you could blame coming here on the giant suckling teat of the Welfare State, because that didn't exist before 1932. There's certainly welfare teats elsewhere (2M Muslims in Europe can't be wrong) but they aren't going there because they're refugees, they're going there to freeload. They're not going to France or Germany to become French or Germans (which they couldn't, ever, anyways) they're going there to conquer, and they're not even bothering to hide the fact. They are, literally, raping, killing, pillaging, and burning, just like every Vandal and Visigoth and Mongol and Muslim Horde ever has, back to time out of mind.

Whereas, for those who want to, you can come here and become an American. You can even have ancestors dragged here in chains, and still be an American 200 years later - if you want to.

That's why a list of actual Americans includes John Paul Jones, , Casimir Pulaski, Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, Horatio Gates, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ted Cruz, Craig Ferguson, Luther Powell (Colin's father), or bloggers like Peter Grant, Kim DuToit, and LawDog: not one of whom was born here.

It's why slaves, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are just as American as anyone else: Frederic Douglass, Booker T. Washington, Thomas Sowell, or Larry Elder.
It's why a first generation American kid could graduate high school as valedictorian, then get imprisoned in an internment camp, pilot the ship that ran over the PT-109 in the eponymous movie, fight VC alongside John Wayne, and helm the starship Enterprise for 30 years, even though he's gay as fuck.

And none of that, not one single effing thing, is because of some PC horsesh rose fertilizer codswallop about "Diversity Is Our Strength".
Those people aren't American, let alone more  American, because they're different.
They're American because they're all the same.
And because this is the only country on the planet, now, or anytime in world history, where they could be  the same.

And that's true for one, fundamental reason:
The Constitution of the United States.
The forerunner to it, the Declaration of Independence, and the codicils appended to secure its adoption, the Bill of Rights, are the only thing that make that so.

Because alone, of every country on the planet, the most important thing here, and the entire object of forming a government, and specifically the one we have, is to protect the individual, and the rights of the individual. Rights that are inherent in being born at all, existing prior to this form of government, and superior to its wishes and designs.

If somebody tells me I can't publish a meme, I can tell them to go fuck themselves, and make it stick, and they can't throw me in jail for doing it. They may scrub my website, but I can go get another one, or host it myself. I can print it on billboards, and splatter it right in the very noses of those whom it offends the most. Ask Sabo. (While he should be theoretically liable for vandalism or damages to property, AFAIK, he's never been so much as fined or cited, in the most blue-hivey knee-jerk progtard bastion on the planet, Hollywood, CA. Ponder on that reality for a damned minute or three, then imagine what would happen if he tried that schtick in Beijing, Moscow, Pyongyang, Singapore, Riyadh, Pretoria, Kabul, Mogadischu, Mexico City, or even London or Berlin. They'd run his ass to prison so fast it'd leave skidmarks all the way to the gates, at least in the cities where they wouldn't just shoot him on the spot, and bill his family for the bullet. So come on, tell me again how the Constitution is toothless.
I'll wait while you marshal your arguments; you'll only have been wrong for 221 years and counting.

Or ask the Earl of Taint. Or Stilton Jarlsberg. Or Dianny. Or Sal the Agorist. Or The People's Cube. (They're too busy trying to influence the republic to burn it down. Take a hint there.)

And even 170M @$$holes wanting to take my gun(s) away can sod right off with that idea too, even here in Califrutopia, because I, one man, one lone individual, have the God-given right to tell them where to head in with that clever plan. Sideways, with a rusty chainsaw even.

So now, I'm going to tell you a short story, to tell you why that's so.

Courtesy of Uncle, I spent a fanfold of seasons in the Land Of The Morning Calm. And even visited the lunocracy immediately north. Really.

The Norks really want to unite with South Korea. In the worst way. Literally.

They even tried it once, and damn near succeeded, until the leftover Army, a raggedy rump division of cobbled together Marines, and another dozen countries' stray cats and dogs gave them a reason to reassess their territorial ambitions. Then Mao and his tennis-shoe clad minions entered the fray, and then left it, much the worse for wear at the experience.

Consequently, when I visited there, and camped in a dry rice paddy a couple of miles south of the DMZ, with HAWK SAM batteries atop the surrounding hills serving as compass pointers to divine which way north was, I got to see how things work under a country in open conflict, as yet unresolved after 68 years.

There were no traffic cops there, and few stop lights. (It may have changed subsequently, but what it was then is as I describe). Traffic control was simple. You had an 18-year-old Korean kid waving traffic in all directions to stop, or proceed. And cleverly, everyone obeyed them, in all cases. The front-slung M-16, still including the Stoner-original Happy Switch for firing rate, as well as the loaded and locked 30-rd. magazines, and the two to four live fragmentation hand grenades hanging on the lads' load bearing webbing may have had some wee effect on inducing scrupulous compliance to stop-and-go orders. The prospect of getting not a ticket, but instead a burst of assault rifle fire into your windshield will do that, even for races of people who tend to lack the driving gene.

This method of traffic control was so, because the Norks had a peculiarly nasty habit of sending two or five or ten commandos into the South Korean territory, especially near the DMZ, and then shooting up anyone and blowing up anything they could find. So Barney Fife with white gloves and a ticket book wasn't the best approach to dealing with that contingency.

Also, the Norks, like our neighbors to the south here in USA, had a predilection for visiting the neighbors by way of tunnels over the years. Dozens had been found, but it was always assumed more had not been. This is why we've never signed the land mine protocol beloved of Princess Di, because we've got tens of thousands of the little things scattered from the China Sea to the Sea of Japan along the DMZ, and are only now starting to remove a few of them, as international relations there thaw somewhat.

Lastly, the Norks rather conspicuously have a good deal more tanks poised for another go at a shotgun wedding with the South. They can't afford to feed their people, but they can evidently afford thousands of tanks. Much like the Dutch taming the North Sea, South Korea has a plan for that.

At every railroad trestle, underpass, overpass, bridge, dam, road cut, etc., there are sets of niches built in on both sides, and in any supports next to them, in English and Hangul, is inscribed the precise type and amount of explosives, in pounds and kg, which are to be placed there in order to blow the bridge, or underpass, or overpass, or trestle, or dam, or hillside cut with alacrity, thus turning the entire country into a patchwork of little kill-boxes, to staunch any penetration by armored forces, and allow the SKAF and USAF, plus anti-armor units, to pick off the trapped Nork armor in convenient dead-end (literally) kill zones, from Panmunjon to Pusan. They've gone further than that, and also had concrete "logs", telephone pole size, in stacks above passes, with similar demolition plans, to instantly create an impenetrable barrier of tank- and vehicle-proof "pick-up sticks" to prevent further passage.

Living on a peninsula in a state of war for nearly 70 years means that, much like Israel, you stop an advance cold, and fast, or you lose...everything. So they've made it damned near impossible for anyone to get anywhere fast, or far, or to any good effect, should they be attacked again.

Funny thing, that's exactly what the Founders did in 1787. And for the same reason: the prospect of dictatorial overreach and being overrun.

John Adams famously wrote,

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Benjamin Franklin, when asked what form of government we had enacted in Philadelphia, after the inadequacy and manifest failure of the Articles of Confederation were obvious to all thirteen colonies, replied,

"A republic, if you can keep it."
Bear that well in mind at all times; those are guidelines for the Owner's Manual, and not to be disregarded, ever, for any reason.

Because the roomful of ordinary geniuses (actually two roomfuls, once for the Declaration in 1776, and another for the Constitution in 1787) were both lettered men, and hard-nosed men of industry, trade, and commerce. They had thought and studied and argued and written and lectured and debated the best form of government, before, during, and after the Revolutionary War. They had rather a bit of interest in the matter.

They'd seen the failings of monarchy first-hand; they had no desire for the mob rule of democracy (and if you think you're in one, or ever have been, beat yourself about the head and shoulders with a stout piece of rebar, since I can't do it for you. Stop only when your ignorant delusion leaves you once and for all time. No, I'm not kidding, I meant that in all seriousness.) But a republic had promise.

If any people were populated solely by absolute saints, a theocracy would suffice, and no written laws necessary at all. Such has existed never, nowhere, in recorded human history, and the Founders knew this. They also knew that laws only ever work for the law-abiding, no matter what form of government. And lastly, they knew that government itself was the biggest problem in the equation. Even if George Washington never uttered the famous lines, they are self-evidently true nonetheless:

"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence — it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."

So what was needed was a government that would prevent a tyranny from arising.
Without becoming one itself.

That's why as originally enacted, the individual voter elected a total of one man to the federal government directly: his congressman, and no other. You didn't elect your senators, the state's legislature picked them to preserve the interests of the entire state, based on the deliberations of the state's legislature and governor. (This is why the XVIIth Amendment which undermined that concept should be repealed forthwith; it was one of the cornerstones of Progressivism, and has, at last, completely undermined the government, and invested us with a house of millionaire Lords, unaccountable and at odds with the states they nominally represent. But I digress). You didn't vote for the President directly either; the electoral college did, based on your votes, but not immediately subject to it, and the states got electors for the state, just like they got senators to represent the state's interests. For which long-suffering wisdom you may thank a merciful deity or an unconcerned natural universe that Felonia von Pantsuit is still not your president, nor was Albert Gore Jr. when planes began to smash into the World Trade Center. That's two simultaneous proofs that the Founders were far smarter than you think they were, and for the existence of an involved and compassionate deity. Otherwise, it would require Powerball odds to have been so fortuitously saved twice in this century already from the excesses and lunacy of direct democracy.

Then, they constructed the whole so that nothing happens easily, nor fast. Ever. That's a feature, not a bug. You need consensus to do things. No wild swings. No one-man dictatorships, nor even fiefdoms. And you need both houses, the president, and the assent of the courts for anything to happen, and stick. Anyone of them backs out, and it gets a lot harder to do anything at all.

But someone will pipe up that things are awful, and "muh Constitution" failed, and woe is me, and we should burn everything down, because reasons?

Really, Sparky?

We had an illegal alien in the White House for eight years, and for two years he could run the table except for the Supreme Court, and yet the worst he could do was temporarily fuck up health care, and ruin the military. Bad, certainly, though not instantly catastrophic, but even then, the wisdom of a bicameral legislature, and limited powers for each branch, with appropriate checks and balances, severely hampered his unbridled lusts to ruin the nation.

So maybe light a candle to the holy memory of James Madison and Benjamin Franklin, while you're up. They did you a solid, and you owe them debts you can never discharge.

Does that mean the document is perfect?
Hell no.
If for no reason further sought than that there was never, and will never be, perfect people in every, or even any, branch of government. Gypsies, tramps, and thieves may be a Cher song, but it's also the pedigree of nearly every person in every federal position of decision since ever.

And the Founders knew what people were:

True of every president, inclusive, every senator and congressman, and every Supreme Court justice. Including President Trump, and Judge Kavanaugh, and certainly of the two absolute despicable fucktard current senators from Califrutopia (#notmysenators), both of whom currently sit on the Senate Judiciary Committee (thank god, not behind the control levers!), for reasons best known to Satan himself.

The checks and balances inherent in that document kept HopeyDopey from zooming the country right over the cliff all at once. They keep President Trump from going batshit tweety-fingers barking mad, just as they kept Shrillary and Algore out of the Oval Office, except as visitors. They'll restrain Judge Kavanaugh, even if he becomes Mr. Justice Kavanaugh, as they've restrained Satanmayor, Ruth Vader Ginsburg, Sandra Day O'Communist, and their colleagues, and good men and evil ones since generations before you were born.

And the Leftards know this, which is why, if they can't have the levers of power, they collectively went poo-flinging monkeyfuck crazy in 2016. It's why they want to throw the presumption of innocence, and the rules of evidence right down the shredder's maw if they can't hold SCOTUS as their five-member super-legislature, and keep killing babies as they will. "If we can't have something, burn all the things!" is ever their cry.

If they don't get the House or the Senate in a month, they'll be positively unhinged.
Stand by for that nuclear meltdown.

Because they can't trample you.
Because you can vote their bastards down.
You can monkeywrench their guy's plans if you can take a branch or more away from them.
Voting doesn't work? Ask Dubbya about those eight(!) illegal alien amnesty attempts he never passed.
Ask Rapist Clinton how that attempt at HillaryCare went.
Ask HopeyDopey how his Obozocare legacy looked a year or so after he left office forever.

Then tell me voting doesn't do anything.

Y'know what it doesn't do?
It doesn't fix everything overnight. So if you have ADHD and a short attention span, maybe poker's not your game, Ike.
And you might have to even pay attention to stuff more than five seconds every four years, and even stop electing backstabbing m*****f*****s to office over and over and over and over (the entire state of Arizona: call your office!).

So yeah, a constitutional republic, with limits on the powers of the government, and it's branches, and one whose sole legitimate raison d'etre isn't taxes, or welfare, or even national defense, it's protecting the rights, life, liberty, and property of the individual:
but notably, only if you can keep it.

And you didn't get here in one election, so you ain't getting out of this mess in one election.

So qwitcherbitchin' and bellyachin', and buckle in for the long haul.

Unless you've got a better idea, which to date, has never been expressed by anyone.
Burning all the things isn't a viable plan.
Pissing and moaning and flinging your diaper spackle isn't one either.

Any other suggestions, the bar is open.

(And the first schmuck, here or anywhere else, who tries to paint this as "the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again", "More! Harder! Faster!", or any other such horseapples not only missed the entire point, they're also too stupid to play on the Internet without adult supervision, and should try the freeway instead. They're also ugly, were raised on lead paint chips, their mother dresses them funny, and she works in a whorehouse. NTTAWWT. Just saying.)

So if this was too spicy, or your butthurt crème just isn't strong enough to cool the chapping, they sell pink pussyhats on Amazon, and the SJW blog is just down the road to the left.

A lot of people like to opine how, come the day, they may go down, and we may lose this whole thing off a cliff or in walls of fire, but they console themselves and those within earshot that "at least I'll go down in a pile of hot brass and dead bodies before they get me."

Okay, fair enough.

But I'm supposed to think that's true, if you can't follow current events, are too lazy to vote, write letters, and generally raise hell any legal way you can, and in short, do the same amount of effort you're going to expend when it's finally hopeless and the hordes are busting down your door? Which effort, now, might stave that day off for five, ten, fifty years; long enough perhaps for your kids to have a crack at it?

That's a special kind of stupid.
Don't be That Guy.
