Totally Not A Lunatic Megalomaniac

This is totally the sane and rational behavior of a wise leader seeking
his country's own enlightened best interest, rather than the insane
ravings of a certifiable fruitcake who'd prefer to blow everyone to ashes,
including himself, instead of admitting he fucked up colossally, and retreating.

Word to your mother: Every time Vladpoleon does this (and he's done it about every month since the Russians invaded the Ukraine - for the fourth time since 1991 - in February of 2022), and you run to and fro about it, you aren't making the case for him, you're making the case that the West still hasn't done enough to stop him.

You RFP types get that...don't you?!?

Bummer for you, but you picked your side of the argument freely and uncoerced. It's not our fault that your sociopathic pick for Statesman Of The Century keeps kicking own goals and frothing at the mouth. Reality is a pisser like that sometimes.

{Logic 101 Pro Tip: Pointing out that Ukraine is a kleptocracy (and the U.S. is what? Show all work), or that Gropey Dopey Joe is senile, or just playing the JOOOOOOOOOOS! Card, does Jack and Shit for making your case. Make a counter-argument on the merits - as if you have any - or continue to explore the recesses of your own lower digestive tracts with your heads, from the inside. Defaulters will be ignored, or mocked mercilessly, purely on a whim.}

There are no good guys in this conflict.....including the corrupt douchebags in Mordor On The Potomac who are stirring the Balkan pot. As long as they are killing each other and no canned sunshine is involved I simply don't care. Like the muzzies....as long as they are content to slaughter each other I couldn't give a rats ass.

There are no good guys in many conflicts.

But unlike ones in backwards continents in countries like Bumfuck, Trashcanistan or Shitholia, this isn't one where we can sit it out and ignore the consequences.

Ukraine is not Rwanda or Cambodia.

That's what makes this a bitch all around. It's annoying, distasteful, and inconvenient, but it is not inconsequential.

I hope that you don't mind a question, but what does "RFP" stand for in this context? I'm used to seeing it as Request for Proposal...

I would offer -- Folks Putin IS the moderate in the Kremlin. Any pending replacement will be a guaranteed hardliner. SecState better wish carefully, what you get might lead to not so great brighter than usual future.

Yes, Ukraine is corrupt and a fair amount of current aid is getting diverted to eventually go into various pockets. That's the way of the world, just about everywhere, and definitely including Russia. Another fact is that Russia and Ukraine signed a treaty that gave Russia all the nuclear weapons left over in Ukraine from the USSR in return for Russia guaranteeing the Ukraine borders. The USA was a cosigner to that treaty.
Well, the current conflict has taught nations near and far that treaties are worth very little in comparison to having some nukes in your hip pocket. So much for non-proliferation! As a party to that treaty, the USA has every right to deal with Russia directly, not just sending some goodies (carefully removing any advanced technology first) like we have been.
Speaking of canned sunshine, I wonder how well the Russians have maintained the USSR era weapons they have. These things need proper care in order to work properly, the USA had to re-open several facilities in order to fix what we have. Is Putin rattling a rusted saber?

Agreed. While I'd rather not be in a war, Russia has to be stopped sometime, and the longer we wait the tougher it will be.
I'd rather someone else do the fighting and dying, backed with American stuff, elsewhere, than Americans do the fighting and dying closer to home, backed with far less stuff ...
