FIFY

h/t WRSA

Israel, while never admitting it, is largely acknowledged to have possessed nuclear weapons for 50 years or so. To date, they've never used one, and haven't provably even tested one.
By contrast, you'll know the day Iran gets one, because it will go off at the head of an Iranian-launched missile headed for Tel Aviv. Which reasonably enough, Israel's government considers unacceptable.

To this point, the only thing they've done wrong is to not nuke Tehran proactively. And maybe a few more cities in Iran, just to make the point unmistakable. They may yet do so, and would be no more despised if they did so than they are now, and yet they restrain that response, rather than risk a wider, and perhaps inevitably global, nuclear conflict.

And every time they spank Iran, a dozen Arab nations, and the governments thereof, hand Israel cash, prizes, and sincere thanks, backchannel or under the table, because they want a nuclear Iran even less than Israel does.

Iran has been the bleeding ass sore of the Middle East since 1979.

We should have been flying Arc Light rounders to their cities from Diego Garcia hourly for the last 50 years, but we've been too chickenshit to man up and do what's both deserved, and long past necessary.

Israel lacked the ability to do what they did yesterday as anything but one-way suicide missions, until they were sold US KC-135 tanker aircraft during Obozo's administration.

Israel can't wait until after there's a mushroom cloud overhead to act. It's an existential luxury, and asinine to expect it of them. So Wikileaks should either STFU, or quit the charade by just putting on a pointed white hood, and get their true feelings out in the open.

They could be that stupid once, but to stay this stupid perpetually is the calculated and deliberate act of someone maliciously hoping they could see all of Israel smoked under a rain of nuclear destruction, partly as wishcasting, and secondarily as a shout out of affirmation to their fellow mouth-breathers worldwide.

Like the internet was short of that at any point since it started existing.

20-Dimensional chess move: while Trump's hands are clean in Israel's strike, one consequence of it now has Iran cutting off drone sales to Russia, because they need them to attack Israel. So in one move Israel has cut the Houthi terror pipeline, yet again severely crimped Iran's nuclear ambitions (as if exploding nuclear scientists and Stuxnet viruses weren't enough), and taken some heat off Ukraine - supposedly by accident.

That's what diplomats and the E-ring at the Pentagon call a hat trick.

Obama could have supported the peaceful Green Movement in Iran in 2009 but Rice and Jarret were pro Ayatollahs and nixed it.

Plausible deniability. Pure coincidence that we(the US) benefited from it.

The less we are involved the better. The middle East has been tar baby that any foreign power does not escape unscathed. From the Hittites (sic) to today it has been that way.

left out Pearl Harbor, the Ardennes Offensive of 1944, and the PLA Offensive at Chosin Reservoir, Tet 68.... But minor quibbles and Xitter does have a character limit after all..

But...but...Iran can't have been working on a nuke. We manifested that they wouldn't! /sarc. It was nice of Israel to save the world this time.

The Right on certain websites, however, has been having a meltdown that is basically "I don't want boots on the ground." Even though all Israel and Ukraine want is...more weapons to use against America's enemies! And we need allies. It's hard to get by without them.

I'm not a war hawk, but the America alone brigade is beyond the pale with thier fear that anything could lead to World War III. It has never dawned on them that doing nothing to even remotely inconvenience countries like Russia and Iran are the fastest way to get to World War III.

This brigade of Right Wingers makes 1939 France and Britain look brave and stalwart by comparison.

From things I read years ago, it seems possible that a working nuclear bomb was tested by Israel, Switzerland, and South Africa in the 1960s.
As I understand, the Israelis designed it, the Swiss ran the computer modelling to be sure it would work, and the South Africans assembled the bomb and took it to a small, remote, island in the Southern Indian Ocean / Roaring 40s to set it off.
There were "unexplained seismic events" reported in that area.
This may also be why the Swiss have not been reported as seeking nuclear weapon tech, as they have had it for years.
South Africa destroyed their bombs, and all their records before turning their government over to the blacks.
My opinion, free, and worth every penny.

No, you're spot on.
SAfrica had the wit to destroy any records before their Diversity took over, and the Swiss, as usual, are saying nothing, but of all Europeans, they could have a tidy little arsenal sitting in an underground vault, and the first person to know it would be transitioning from meatsuit to charcoal at the speed of thermonuclear surprise, just after they invaded the Swiss border.

I was just keeping it simple, in the CIA era. A comprehensive list would be an entire post on the blog.
When it comes to knowing things, the CIA is a distant second to CNN and the Psychic Hotline.

I've read about the Vela incident, but never saw discussion of Swiss involvement.
It's quite plausible that Israel worked with SA on it.
Note that it was at sea, not on land to hide the evidence more easily.

FYI , they didn't miss any of those. Our elected representation and their henchmen were up to their eyeballs deep in all of it. The nifty thing is that they got away with it for so long that they eventually decided that it was part of their job..

Basic nukes are a pretty simple and well known technology these days..My dad, a nuclear physicist, said a well equipped high school could make one...If Iran wanted one, they'd have one...and maybe they do....

I was a little concerned why the head rag head announced yesterday or the day before that Israel and the world were going to see something never seen before. I was thinking they took some of that partially enriched Uranium, mounted it and some explosives on a missile and launched it at Israel. Thank the Lord and little green men that didn't happen.

I'm waiting/hoping for someone to jam a 500 LB JDAM up that guys keister. Should have happened on the first night.

Conservatives: the government can't possibly be right that Kung flu spreads through droplets exhaled when I breath! I won't stay home or wear a mask when I go out!

Also Conservatives: i definitely believe the government when they say Iran can't possibly be even close to having a nuclear weapon.
