I think a better analogue for Ron DeSantis would be the Scott Walker Presidential Primary Campaign. Scott was a brash innovative Conservative Governor. He decided to run, and accepted the big money campaign financing of GOP Establishment Inc.
Unfortunately when you accept their money, you must accept agenda, lock, stock, and barrel. Your brash, innovative campaign is immediately neutered and Establishment Inc., holds your balls as collateral.
The border hawk shipping illegals to the Hamptons is no more. You are now "appealing to a centrist voting demographic." And you sound exactly like the other GOP Primary Candidates, as your popularity quickly fades and your polling lead tanks.
I liked Ron. I wish he would worked as a Trump surrogate, and built up IOUs from Trump and Republican candidates across the nation.
DeSantis has spent better than six months proving he's not ready for prime time, and never was. He's made Biden - Emperor Poopypants himself - look decisive and in command by contrast. He's the most ass-tastically clueless wannabe candidate from either party I can remember in some years, and the bast analogue to his campaign is probably the LZ Hindenburg: "First, there was a dodderingly slow bag of gas. Then it exploded in flames in front of the entire world."
You just want to shake him by the shoulders and ask him if he's having a stroke, and if not, then if he has any idea exactly WTF he thinks he's doing. And I'm not sure of the answers he'd give to either question.
When the guy your people assured you could be beaten doesn't just beat you, he pulls 12X as many votes as you do, and the more exposure you get the lower you drop, the thing to do is set land speed records dropping out of the campaign, and pray to a merciful deity none of the voters in your home state remember this debacle when you're up for re-election.
The only thing that explains Haley, at this point, is found in the pages of the DSM-IV. Unless she's actually being run by the Clinton Foundation.
If the Uniparty, the pressitutes, WEF wanted to beat Trump... Well the best way would have been to ignore him. Nor is launching lawfare against him useful, it merely makes him a martyr. Problem is once the polling started rolling in before Iowa the opportunity was lost. Whatever the reason, piling adversity on Trump is like demanding 'wax on, wax off'. He shines on the buff out of stupidity.
Not counting the news outlets or websites along the full range of accuracy and veracity, I follow multiple actual individuals' handwritten blogs. (Bot news aggregators don't thrill me.) Looking them over, many are current serving or former military and a couple are some variation of high-speed low-drag elite forces ninjas. Or just funny as all. Because life without humor is just despair. So in other words, the same folks I trusted in the military not to wet the bed, sh*t themselves, or otherwise run around like headless Nancys, are the same folks I trust on the interwebz, for demonstrating pretty much the same trustworthiness and circumspectly responsible behavior. Color me shocked.

Nikki can't get out fast enough.
