Adult Babies

h/t Tam

We're speaking metaphorically here. (If anyone is talking about literally, kindly keep your freak flag in the closet, thanksverymuch.)

They already walk around with their grown-up sippy cups and techno-baby rattles.

If the current generation of adult babies gets any worse, we expect a run on Depends© by the same demographic, and the first appearance of plastic pull-ups at the annual fashion shows for the hipster crowd in the very near future.

If this isn't you, relax.
But if the diaper fits, wear it.

My HR contact has indicated that they have had cases where Momma was at the interview with their spawn. How dependent can one get?

I took and passed FAA ground school testing at 14, flight training at 15 (took a bunch of mowed lawns to pay for avgas even back then), soloed at 16. Pilot in command before I could legally drive a car. The idea of not wanting to hit the open road as soon as possible is foreign to me.

Wait--wait-- wait one freaking minute.

I got an Aladdin insulated cup like that, that keeps my coffee hot while I'm driving to work in the oil patch.
You think I'm gonna go "rape" Mother Earth of her oil & gas without my coffee? Shiiiiiiiit....

BTW, I'm 59, so not a millennial...

I must confess that I used to buy the 64 oz plastic cups at the local convenience store, fill them up with ice, and add my beverage of choice, Diet Dr. Pepper. I would go through one of these a day while trying to figure out what the #&*%@ the lead engineer wanted me to model on my CAD system. On the last few contracts, I would buy one cup, and reuse it as long as the smell didn't overcome my co-workers(I lost my sense of smell many years ago while in the USAF during a squirt gun fight where the liquid was carbon tetrachloride...)

Actually, I went thru one 2 liter bottle of that poison every working day, and even now, being "retired", I still go thru them about 5/week.

My toy of choice though was my SR-51A calculator, not a smart phone.

Ghod, I miss working in the professional setting. But there aren't suitable opportunities within commuting distance, and I can't take being on the road anymore.

Millennials living with their parents until they’re 30 is more often because they can’t afford anything else. All the entry-level jobs are overseas, filled with Visa holders from India, or require 5+ years’ experience.

I studied biochemistry in college, and spent 5 years trying to get an “entry-level” job in the field before switching. One of my friends spent even longer trying to get into IT. Those of us who do have better-than-retail jobs usually spend the majority of our paychecks on bills and groceries, even when we’re debt-free. One can mock our condition, but one can’t ignore the hard math. It’s as idiotic as suggesting the boomers caused all of the problems created by the federal reserve.

@MG,

I have no gripe with anyone, from any generation, who tried and failed to launch, and kept on going until they made it.

My beef is with the ones who've never made an effort, or for whom independence is "too hard".

I had plenty of friends of college age who split house rent four or five ways.

I, and both older and younger brothers, choose the 40-roomate plan, where we all lived in the same barracks, as required by our Uncle. It's amazing how motivating that experience is; I've never had to share quarters since then.

Crap Aesop. Your remark about the 40 room mate housing plan made me spit coffee all over my keyboard. Been there, done that, wouldn't do it now. My FTA days are long over.
