Sunday Music: Walkin' On A Thin Line

Fifth single from 1984's Sports from Huey Lewis and the News.

Forty years and three wars later, and the song remains the same. Just the background images have changed.

Tomorrow isn't for veterans, per se.

It's for the ones who joined, left, and never came home. Except in a box, with little more than a folded flag, and loved ones' memories left of them afterwards.

Have your barbecues. Drink your beer. Watch your sportsball. Enjoy a swim. For, and because of, those who can do none of those things, and figured securing it for you was worth the risk.

Like a couple of guys from a post a few days back.

Found the self titled debut from 1980 and it was surprisingly good.
Heart and Soul is always in the rotation, at any hour.

Thanks Aesop

Lost several friends while on active duty, none from combat, mostly training and vehicle accidents. Doesn't hurt any less.

On a happier note, I can't think of any cut on Sports that I don't like.

Great song. Best thing they ever did as band. Thanks for sharing this one out - haven't heard it in a while.

A question Sir,
You recommended isotonic saline for first aid wound flushing, but the label says not for use as a disinfectant. Is this a problem?
Very Respectfully, STG-2

@STG-2
It doesn't "disinfect" the wound, as it kills no germs.
What it does do is flush all that crap out in the first place.
That's what you're using it for.
If you want to make it do both, and you have no iodine allergies, mix it 50:50 with Betadine or generic equivalent.
Whatever you don't flush out, you sterilize.
Then flush the mix out with more saline solution, or plain tap water.

still so easy to ignore... the plight of veterans in this country is disgusting proof of how far we've fallen as a nation.
It is what it is, but payback is a stone cold, heartless bitch.
A reckoning is coming. From some, perhaps an empty seeming threat. From combat veterans... not so much.

Excellent choice.

If you have the time I suppose Dakins solution could be used to irrigate.

-- unfortunately this isn't anything new. There was no height from which to fall. See "hoovervilles" and "bonus army" for just two examples, "agent orange" and "camp lejune" also come to mind.

Add a long list of injustices following, and yet, no uprising.
