My only dismay at this order is that it hasn't been in force since ever.
I can only hope the Iranians don't believe it, test the veracity, and we turn loose CIWS and deck gunners to take out 5 or 10 of their small craft before the Iranians belatedly realize the rules have changed.
Some nations, like some people, don't pay attention until you punch them in the nose a few times, and then suddenly they become polite as hell after a good ass-kicking. Here's to hoping the Iranians learn lessons the same thick-headed way. Heaven knows, the Navy, especially Surface Warfare, could use both the morale boost such a turkey shoot would provide, and the improvement in discipline and competence so sorely lacking after nearly 50 years of strictly peacetime service.
