Peter Gabriel's only No. 1 hit, and one of the best music videos of that or any year, as evidenced by three Grammy nominations (but no wins), and a record nine MTV video award wins.

Sledgehammer is one of my favorite songs from the mid to late 80's.
When MTV was that - music television :)
"So" is a pretty good album.
Aesop, to be honest I never got Gabriel. I liked Solisbury Hill because of the lyrics. Other than that, he generally escapes me.
Love PG so much. At the Amnesty International all-star show in the 80's at the LA Forum, they sold out the whole place for the first time ever, including seats behind the stage (where us poor musicians were sitting). Every other act ignored us back there, but Peter had the rear house lights put up and came around and did most of his show to the 20% of the crowd that was behind the stage. Great gesture and he seemed to dig it as much as we did. Will always remember that.
Great music. Great video. And back then, it really was morning in America.
