The US Navy's Pacific Fleet has drawn up a classified proposal to carry out a global show of force as a warning to China and to demonstrate the US is prepared to deter and counter their military actions, according to several US defense officials.
The draft proposal from the Navy is recommending the US Pacific Fleet conduct a series of operations during a single week in November.

Yeah, I know it's CNN with no specific attribution. It could be CNN bullshit, it could be a strategic DOD leak to gauge the Chinee Communist Party's reaction. We used to call this "signaling." It's all part of nuclear brinksmanship.
I've read that this will be the last election where Texans will have the opportunity to vote straight ticket with one box check. Apparently this was deemed to be an advantage for Republicans and therefore had to go. While I have simplified my voting in the past by taking this option, this year I won't. Each individual race will get my personal "Fuck you" to the Democrat running. Think they'll throw me out if they hear the ranting coming from my booth ?

Or it could be standard contingency planning/war gaming that was not meant to be leaked as a "message" but someone hadda brag how connected they are by talking with the wrong person.
When I was in I participated in planning (often very detailed) on a basis of "what if..." against various "competitors". No actual intentions to execute at that time, but if the time came we had something that could be trimmed and revised as a head start on actual mission planning.
IOW it _could_ be routine ops normal that some twit without a clue caught wind of. Sort of like the breathless BEARS OFF THE COAST OMG!!!! stories the last couple of years when Russian Long Range Aviation dusted off their Soviet era Recon/training route plans.
