Sunday Music: Taxi

Harry Chapin's Top 40 single from 1972, debuted on The Johnny Carson Show, which garnered such an overwhelming response Carson had Chapin back for an unprecedented second night.

Thanks man, I haven't heard this in at least 15 years, loved his music. It brought back memories both good and bad, but that's life I guess......

I think I could write the lyrics here from memory in one sitting. Definitely stuck with me.

‘Taxi’ was to music what ‘The Bridges of Madison County’ was to literature.

During my childhood my family would drive to Florida from Michigan every Easter break, straight through. I would stay up all night while my father drove giving him drinks and changing out our handful of 8-track tapes, one of which was Harry Chapin. I also loved Cats in the Cradle and some awesome song about a truck full of bananas 😂😂😂

Man, I haven't heard that one in years ... that really takes me back. I turned 9 in 1972. I've heard it a few times since but certainly, not in the past 30 years. the last I think was in a 1/2 Price book store in San Antonio in my college years.

@208SilverMiner,

Cool your jets, Sparky.
Rest assured that Project Crow hasn't been forgotten, and is on my list of Things To Do, but it's not the first thing on my list. Not even in the Top Five at the moment, matter of fact.
But it'll get done, and you'll get your crow served to you in due course, and just for openers, probably when it isn't 90+ effing degrees outside and semi-tropical humid every day hereabouts.

You and your fellow wagerers will simply have to be patient. Your moment in the spotlight isn't going to be as much fun as you think, and you should probably be rubbing your rabbit's foot.

Taxi and Bob Dylan's Tangled Up in Blue, memories from long ago rise to the surface of my mind. Thanks for that.

@208,

Spare me your further rants. You got your answer, and as I stated, I've neither the time at the moment, nor the interest, for futher dalliance. Your latest has been preserved, and will be featured in a place of honor in your very own post when the time comes. I can assure you it won't be as funny come the day, except to everyone else who reads it. Hubris ill befits you, even though you apparently cannot help yourself. Learn to bide your time. And perhaps, think up a new handle for when you have to go into internet hiding.

Saw Harry Chapin in concert in 1977. He was drunk and put on a hell of a show.

Thank you for that. Just thank you.
