Saw an interview with Eric Prince this morning. Trump needs to hire some Blackwater pipehitters, the secret squirrels can stand down - if they remember how to do that, they sure as fuck don't know much else.

As attractive as "conspiracy" is as an explanation for what happened, my money remains on DEI-inspired incompetence from top to bottom. Poor leadership, poor planning, poor training, poor response on-site....
Frankly, if the USSS had been involved in a plot to assassinate Trump, and they were still at all competent, they'd have succeeded.
Saw an interview last night with a LEO that had talked to the locals about what happened with the local LEO that went up on the roof and fled. According to this guy, he had talked to the two local LEOs involved. They were responding to the civilians pointing out the shooter. No ladder where they were so one LEO got on top of the other LEOs shoulders to look over the rooftop. He saw the shooter, shooter saw him and swung rifle at him. Due to the climb and perch on his fellow LEOs shoulders he didn't have a weapon in his hand, so he ducked down, lost his balance and fell off the other guys shoulders. By the time he got up the shooter was shooting. Not sure that should be judged as retreating, but hey, I wasn't there and in that guys shoes. Folks do funny things when they are on their very first two way rifle range. That being said, this was a frigging fiasco for the security folks anyway you slice it - deliberate action or deliberate incompetence or programmed incompetence - doesn't matter to the dead fire chief and his family. Heads need to roll.

If Trump hasn't figured it out, he should realize any security by any government entity is dangerous. He has the money to pay for the best, and I have a feeling he will. I know I would, and would unleash my terrible vengeance after elected.
Promotions all around, you only fail upward in a democrat administration. Although they did fail to get Trump killed, so that may require punishment.
Kinda reminds me of some of the "errors" that occured in November 1963.

I certainly don't like what happened, but has anyone who isn't president (or running for a federal office) called 911 for an emergency lately? To me its a small comfort that they're incompetent from top to bottom. Maybe this will be the first step in getting this nonsense resolved for all of us.
Tucker Carlson, called this six months ago. There is no excuse for this debacle. As just a guy, and not a security expert, this was, blinding obviously a set up.

This set up gets even worse. The building the perp was on was the staging area for the LEOs at the event! Some reports say there was no ladder involved. I don't know. But if there was not then how did the perp get on the roof other than an egress point IN the building itself. Finally, it was a metal building and if you have ever been in one you HEAR someone walking on the roof.
The head of SS if she had any integrity would have had a resignation letter already delivered to her boss by Sunday morning. No such luck.

SkyNews had same-day helicopter footage showing the ladder, the body, the rifle, and the bag, after the shooting. The body they blurred.
The ladder was on the north side of the building, between two sections, and behind some trees. No way that walked itself over there.
My take at the moment is that it wasn't a direct conspiracy to kill Trump, but it *was* a conspiracy to provide him with the worst possible security in the hope/expectation that someone, fired up by all the "Trump is literally Satan" rhetoric, would take advantage of the shambles to have a crack, and that's exactly what happened. Remember there were efforts underway to have his SS detail removed completely. That might’ve actually been better than the appearance of security, which is what he had.
Unfortunately for them, their nutjob was also as incompetent as the SS. I believe the shooter was using iron sights. It would take a special kind of stupid to go for a head shot with irons versus centre mass against an animated moving target at 130m when under stress.
Anyway, his detail at the RNC featured precisely zero short, fat, clumsy incompetent women who can't holster their sidearms, so things may be improving.
The odds of a dude from 60 miles away walking into a police perimeter, at the place the po-po were using as a base of operations, walking a 15' ladder over to the building, erecting it, climbing up on the roof, the cops and USSS having 25 minutes and doing nothing, the snipers watching him and IDing him for 3-5 minutes, and not a goddamned one of them taking a shot until after he could (should) have delivered the coup de grâce, in a country with the most trigger-happy cops in modern history, at an electoral event where the permanent rule should have been "shoot on sight, ask questions later", is damning proof this execution was planned and intended by those in charge. Pile on the ineptitude and glacial slowness of protecting the principal even after shots were fired, and in getting him up and out of the area, only throws gasoline on the fire.

Go watch the Hinkley assassination attempt on Reagan about 500 times (like everyone alive at the time did). Watch Agent McCarthy square up between the gunman and the president, and take the bullet from him center mass, and how fast Reagan was slammed into the Beast and taken to hospital, and how fast a metric fuckton of agents, with machineguns coming out of briefcases, appeared around the very-much-alive shooter.

This shitshow was nothing but USSS and DHS doing everything to get Trump killed but handing out rifles and backstage passes to the local whack-jobs, and putting up windage flags and range markers from the roof to the podium.

At 140Y from a prone position, the hardest thing to do is miss a Trump-sized whale of a target. Only by accident, serendipitous luck, and total incompetence - combined - could someone manage to miss with every shot out of half a dozen or so.
The cops knew he was on the roof, and they could have fired at him through the roof from the inside for nearly half an hour before he pulled the trigger, which would have given him a lot more to think about than lining up DJT in his sights.
FFS, amateurs with cell phone cams had him pinpointed for 5-10 minutes before the shots, and no cop even tried to slam some incoming into his ass?
That's not unbelievable, it's impossible.
THIS WAS A CATERED ASSASSINATION, AND THE USSS WAS IN ON IT.

I am incapable of believing it was incompetence. I've worked with some really stupid people over the years. Really stupid. This was deliberate.
The shooter was ID'd by citizens attending the rally, police were notified, minutes passed, nothing happened.
That was on orders, not accident.
Whether you believe all the reports and such floating around out there or not, we've seen the video's of citizens seeing him (can see him in said video!), shouting to police, while the shooter was getting into position. Sorry, they KNEW he was there, KNEW he had a rifle, KNEW he was lining up a shot.
It was a setup. I will not believe anything else. They're lying about their incompetence to shield their complicity. Because if you're caught trying to take out the king, you hang. None of them want to hang.
