Heal Thyself

h/t Wirecutter

From Kenny's blog Tuesday,
California continues to proudly lead the charge toward a disarmed citizenry. In the latest attack on the Second Amendment, Santa Clara County is forming what they call a “county gun team” – a unit of lawyers, analysts, and prosecutors authorized to seek out and confiscate firearms from those the state feels shouldn’t have them.
Great. More fuckwittery from the leftist bastions of NorCal, and the tofu-slurping Birkenstock wearing hippie-spawn bastards that live there.

As one commenter noted
"Treasonous behavior should be dealt with accordingly JUST LIKE the forefathers did."

So far, so good. But then, there's always one lippy jackass who has to take things over the top:
"You would think, but one of CA’s most noted supposedly pro-2A bloggers who goes by some greek philosopher’s name, has told us over and over again that gun-larping and openly standing up for your rights and protesting and getting noisy is just hurting the 2nd Amendment.
Want to lose your 2nd Amendment rights? Then go ahead and act like that aforementioned supposedly 2A blogger.
“Oh noes, don’t rock the boat, you’ll sink it! Your rights are less important than my feelings. Muh butthurtsssss.”
Methinks he doth protest too much.

(And BTW, Aesop was a storyteller, not a philosopher. But for some people's kids, any five words coherently arranged appears to be philosophy. But I digress.)

Nota bene I was nowhere involved in the discussion prior to that point. But since you brought me into it, and Kenny may or may not post my reply there:

No, I didn't tell you it hurts the 2A, I told you idiocy like Richmond's Gun Woodstock  accomplishes nothing.
Like it didn't.
Just like all the stupid hippie shit accomplished nothing in the '60s, for those Common Core grads too young to remember it firsthand.

It isn't "standing up for your rights", it is, exactly as you noted, gun-larping.
Maybe tell the class how the citizens of Massachusetts marched on the governor's mansion in 1775, demanding their "rights". Oh, wait, that never happened.

When people assembled with rifles on Lexington Common, they weren't protesting. And when the British marched back to Boston, they weren't met with sharply-worded letters of complaint. Just musket balls, inbound.

If you're going to go into the streets armed, in a group, you shouldn't be protesting. Unless by "protesting" you mean stringing up tyrants from street lights.

If Santa Clara county citizens start doing that, I'm in. But at last look, it's a solid Blue Hive. Best wishes turning that around, especially all the people that took to their heels. It's still a (mostly) free country, but actions like that have consequences.

There are much better ways to spend your time, for most states, and we covered that long since:

https://raconteurreport.blogspot.com/2020/02/this-is-how-you-do-it.html

Counties like Santa Communist don't have sheriffs that will sanction a militia (in fact, IIRC, they've long since made "paramilitary" training of any type in this state a punishable crime).

As long as the option remains, this crap should be fought in the courts. While you were busy ignoring it, Pres. Trump's gotten within a judge or two of flipping the 9th Circus to majority conservative, which brings 11 Western states back into being part of a free republic, for the next 25 years. He's also appointed one helluva lot of conservative judges at the district level as well.

But if they come a-knocking, the answer to the SC gun-grab mob is short and simple:
Shoot the motherfuckers in the face.

Then go after the people that sent them.
Continue until you either run out of ammo, or targets.

If you've got a problem with that position, or it was too subtly expressed for you to grasp, let's hear it.

Otherwise, maybe worry less about me, and more about where you live. They have the same plan for you, times 49 other states, they just don't have the votes in most of them to pull it off.
Yet.

And while you're up, maybe pull your cleats out of your wedding tackle, Herr Scheisskopf, and slap a trauma dressing on your junk before you bleed out.

But sincere thanks for solving my post topic problem right off the bat today, and pitching such a slow hanging softball for me.

UPDATE:
Herr Scheisskopf apparently couldn't find his tongue. Yet, anyway.
But bloghost Kenny had a reply:

Quit. Just quit. At least they’re doing something – the only thing you’re doing is criticizing.
And as far as Trump appointing conservative judges, you’re assuming that they’re all going to be pro-gun and will automatically rule in favor of the Second Amendment every time. That’s not going to happen. Look at the US Supreme Court with 5 conservative and 4 liberal justices, yet they refused to even hear a case on the Federal bumpstock ban.

To which I respond:

"Something" ╪ something effective. I have no time in my life for futile efforts and wasted energy.
And criticizing isn't the "only" thing I'm doing, then nor now. I offered multiple positive suggestions then. I'm cheering the counties in VA that are going the citizen militia route now. MOAR, please. If they're serious, it will work - one way or the other. It may be the only thing that gets Gov Blackface Babykiller and his associated idiots' attention. (It'll damned sure get the attention of the commander of the VA State Police.)  If pushed, it'll get everyone's attention the same as it did in 1775. Dealer's choice.

Gun Woodstock as a tactic, not so much. It was pointless, and they're still not only laughing about it, but doing so in the face of everyone who participated.

And I assume no such thing about judges, either.
Use that option as long as it works.

As for bumpstocks, if anyone is that invested in them, keep pounding on the door. How long did it take for SCOTUS to hear a case like Heller? Only something like 70 years, last I looked. Get a better case, and try again.

But any hope in that route may ultimately bottom out as well. At that point, as suggested, you're going to have to handle things personally, and probably 1:1.

It's a course of action of Last Resort.

If anybody here has done it once, and can comment accordingly on how it worked out for them afterwards, I'm all ears.

If not, dragging me into a discussion I stayed out of is just gratuitous trolling. But kudos and thanks to the bloghost for allowing my reply here.

Aesop, I am curious where you stand on this guy:
- he was literally playing in the street
- his name was already on the "list," as a 2A leader
- had the sense not to drag his buddies into it

Obviously, the local level is where we will make traction. So, is it wise to "telegraph our punches" by protesting individual lawmakers outside their homes? That's another easily-spinnable-for-the-wrong-team optics situation. But as a God-fearing man, I can see the argument, while a line needs to be drawn in the sand, letting the other guy know he is approaching that line leads to a clear conscience once you've finished the fight. I'm not of the opinion that "they" get that we are serious (and we are, right?) yet...but at some point, willful ignorance is as bad as outright opposition.

I'd wager you think he is an idiot...I am more curious about where you draw the line between voting (which is necessarily private) and organizing a militia (which is pretty aggressive).

I'd rather our forefathers had not let the militia go by the wayside. Then this whole debate wouldn't even be a thing.

In the words of Charlie Daniels,

"I'm the kind of guy who wouldn't harm a mouse, but if I catch somebody breakin' in my house I got a 12 gauge shotgun waitin' on the other side. Don't go pushin' me against my will. I don't wanna have to fight ya but I dern sure will. If you don't want trouble then you better just pass me on by."

If it has come down to shooting the bastards, waiting in your home for them to come to you is Doing It Wrong™.

For those behind the lines in CA, do you know who your local county DNC party president is? Local commie college professors? Local media reporters? Where each works? Where each lives?

Those sorts of people are where the government gets their power. There aren't enough cops to protect them all, and any cop protecting them is one less cop that will come to kick down the door of a gun owner.

Be like John Malvo with a purpose, not some 5 line blurb in the local paper about a nut who tried to stand off a 55 man raid single handed.

Unknownsailor, They actually get their power from P.G.&E.. And that comes from out of state. Which is dangerous for a state that would rip itself apart without it.
Also, if they come to your door. Your probably dead already. So why not fight back? At least make a showing for yourself. They don't have enough troops to go D2D if their losing one your two per door. If we only love freedom enough?

@unknownsailor,

And what, pray tell, happened to John Malvo? Federal prison. His only "purpose" was to ingratiate himself to his father figure by joining him in a campaign of senseless terrorism...killing the innocent at random.

That's your hero? It says a lot about where your head is at, and it ain't a good place at all.

You wait until they come for you, you've got moral justification.

You go looking for them? You're just another crap-bag criminal in need of a dirt nap.

Whoa, I'm liking this. I get to stand with Chas. Cool.
What kind of asshole holds that dipshit bushwhacker malvo as an example to be followed? "It says a lot about where your head is at, and it ain't a good place at all" AYE.
Actually I'm thinking we've got some deep-state droid trying to stir shit up and doing a typically bad job of it. Shove off " sailor"

Yes, Malvo was a murderer. HOWEVER. Take the tactics lessons from what Malvo did and think about how you can apply them (lone shooter who stays mobile; shoots from decent range from concealment.) How about Charles Dorner? One barely trained man paralyzed the entire LA basin for 24 hours.

Staying in your freaking house accomplishes nothing, and gives up the initiative.

My point is this: If the time comes, get out of your fscking house and take your displeasure out on people or places of your choosing, when you choose to do so. This means you have to know who or what to take your displeasure out on beforehand. Do you? Now is the time to find out.

"You wait until they come for you, you've got moral justification."

You wait until they come for you, YOU DIE IN PLACE.

Ask the Branch Dividians how well that worked.

If you can find one.

Charles and Boat Guy, Maybe you missed the part about "...with a purpose." Those dudes had an amazing hide. Their car was customized to pull off their shots and for a long stretch wasn't even on the bolo radar. Unknown has studied the beltway asshole's tactics and techniques and can pick and choose from what worked and what didn't. I recommend trying to see the big picture rather than attacking one phrase from a legitimate post.

Yeah nothing quite says "legitimacy" like "take your cues from a bushwhacking dipshit currently in federal custody". Dunno where TF you've been but recommending TTP's from said asshole is strictly bush-league.
Some of us have matriculated through professional institutions and are quite "big-picture capable". You go ahead and "study" and rock on with your own bad self. Your sole "point" of taking the fight to the enemy was taken long ago; your ham-handed "explanation and examples" significantly less so.
If they're paying you more than GS-9 for this provocation there needs to be an audit.

I'll be happy to take a fight to an enemy.
But there's going to have to be a casus belli that cannot be answered any other way.

That includes coming to my door to take my guns.
At that point, it's on, and you knew the job was tough when you took it, Fred.

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago

Unknownsailor said...

Indeed. Some of us are going to be those people meeting the cops at the door. If that is you, godspeed, and take as many with you as you can. If that is not you, this should be your prompt to execute on your local accountability list, with TTP to match your area.

I'll be saying a bit more, shortly.
