Céad Míle Fáilte

We were too busy to comment yesterday on the blog's odometer rolling past visit #6,000,000 since we online-officially started not shutting up.

We are never too busy to offer our humble and sincere thanks to one and all who drop by.
(Except for a couple of right bastards who've been spamming old posts lately, which we stomp like the cockroaches they are, in about 0.2 seconds.) The rest of you, however, carry on. Sadly but predictably, there wasn't enough cake for everyone, so we ate it all ourself.

At least half of those visits are mine.

Seriously, congrats. I like what you say and how you say it, even if you lay on the snark a little thick from time to time. You absolutely embody the name of your blog. When you get tired of slinging bedp...er, I mean saving lives, you really oughta write a book or screenplay.

Congrats and thanks for all the good info not at all tied to acerbic snarkiness or elicitation of rampant douche-baggery from stupid trolls.

That said...don't get cocky and put up a PayPal pay wall.

Also..I was told there'd be cake...I guess I just was..

Congratulations on this milestone & thank you for generously sharing your expertise in many different areas.
Your thoroughness with your post's contents and the quality of your remarkable sometimes trenchant writing is deserving of much respect and praise. You may have eaten all the cake but reading a new post is always a treat so I'm fine with that.

Congrats! And many thanks for the good intel you and your commenters bring to the site. As for your snark.. I love it! Plain language and the resultant clear communication are sorely lacking in the civilian world.

Congrats congrats and thanks hugely for your blog! Tripped across it and have been excerpting and sending around like crazy (with links to your blog, of course!) to my 'it's gonna be another bust, like all the others' family, friends, and neighbors... {eye roll} One neighbor has blocked me...{sigh} (Also to the friend who asked me to help him buy a full set of hazmat gear. {double sigh})

My oft-used hurricane analogy reaches a few, not enough -- but MPAI?

I send, objecting to the drumbeat of "panic panic panic":
Yes, yes, I know.. They're "always" making (too?) much of "the next big pandemic"! If a hurricane is bearing down on the coast where your metaphorical seaside house is sitting... No one KNOWS if it's going to land on your house or spin out to sea or chase up the coast before landing and destroying some other guy's house... Do you board up your windows? Since you don't have a stack of plywood in your garage, do you run out to the big box store or lumberyard and strip the shelves bare? That is NOT panic, that is a reasonable response to a potential destructive event!
Batten down your hatches, PLEASE!!!

Or I answer this usual excuse:
The problem is, I've heard it all before. SARS, MERS, swine flu, bird flu, zika, spanish flu, ebola, and probably more that I forgot about. It sounds like the boy that cried "Wolf!" But is it really the wolf this time?

with: This is legit, normal, human response. However, it's wrong. Analogy: because ONE hurricane skips your seaside house -- do you then blow over every subsequent hurricane?! "The 'weather service' told me it was gonna be a Cat 4-5; but I was fine and it only flooded and damaged one or two towns many miles up the coast; only killed three people. Why should I worry about the NEXT hurricane?"
Human always/naturally lose the "statistically sound" expectation: if you roll a 6 on a single die 7 times in a row; most humans will "expect" higher odds to do it again (or get the reverse). But EVERY SINGLE ROLL has the EXACT same odds. The odds do NOT change because of previous... pandemics! Yes?

One does what one can!

Congratulations Brother a lot of people are hopefully wiser for coming across this blog... Maybe we can do dinner in April again if we aren't all coughing up our lungs...
