Be alot more fun to run a deep sea remote. $10k/hr. No risk and you probably have a better gaming joystick than what 'they' used.

Anything "Titanic" will dominate the news cycle. Some reports have included descriptions of the dead passengers as being "explorers." No, these were fun seekers. The purpose of their dive was to satisfy their curiosity. It was a joy ride. It was not intended to add to the body of knowledge of any area of science. I doubt that anyone will ever be able to tabulate the amount of money expended in the fruitless search for the survivors who voluntarily placed themselves in harm's way.

I have a friend who made several deep-sea dives in the Pacific many years ago. These dives had a research and practical purpose, however, a purpose well beyond thrill seeking.

While I understand the human drive to experience the unusual, the cardinal point to remember is, "FAFO."

Survivormann99, to be fair, I say the exact same thing every time the Coast Guard has to save some idiot pleasureboater who couldn't be assed to take a class and save their own life before getting on a boat.

In more interesting news, Prigozhin has raised the black flag of mutiny and is claiming to be marching on Moscow. Moscow is in lockdown with military vehicles patrolling the streets and assorted Russian military high command are recording videos saying things like "now let's not be too hasty, we're all on the same side here".

Of course this had to happen today. Because today was the day that Vox Day announced (again) that Ukraine had definitively lost (again).

The last time Vox got anything right was Trump's 2016 election, and it's looking more and more like that was pure dumb luck.

I was already on that, Rollory, running down the leads and typing up the next post the same time you were putting this in the IN box.

But thanks for the heads up.
