So, evidently, Elon Musk has chosen to self-delete himself from further participation in this administration, and he's going to take all his toys, and go home.
Dear Elon,
DLTDHYITAOYWO
Nobody elected you to anything, and they aren't going to do so in the future.
So you should probably take a deep breath, and never pass up a good opportunity to STFU.

the whole country
This isn't the first time Musk has had to have his head kicked lose from his ass to break suction. (And our commentary there still applies, with full force.) But as far as the 47 admin is concerned, it'll be the last time as anyone connected with this White House. Trump, at this point, might piss on Elon, but only if he was first allowed to light him on fire.
We could pile on, but the relevant fact is that the list of people who took Trump on and got their ass (and usually, career) handed to them on a platter makes everyone else with a list blush from embarrassment at the small size of their list, except Hillary Clinton's list Of Dead Former Associates, and Jeffrey Epstein.
For most people, considering the number of people who have crashed and burned after taking Trump on, going back to 2015, signing up to be the next contestant would give one pause. Unless he goes public with being Iron Man, he can also look forward to getting drubbed in every WH press conference until he learns to STFU, slink off, and let it go.
But Elon's fatal flaw has long been hubris, right along with being a billionaire, so one must suppose it's only fitting that his flame-out and smoking hole is going to look like a meteor crater in Arizona before this all dies down.
the problem comes when Trump wants his Golden Dome. he isn't going to get it through NASA...not in this century, anyway. so the administration will have to go to Elon with hat in hand to get it done. it's gonna suddenly get a lot more expensive.
ReplyDeleteSince when has the gov't ever gave a shit about expense? BTW, Trump and Musk are trolling the shit out of everybody, reason unknown at this point.
DeleteThe optic are not great here though. (As much as everyine despises him for not being elected, like every other fool running a program from the government seems to be.) He seems to have thrown a fit and quit because after DOGE was done with cuts, the government spent another 3 trillion.
ReplyDeleteThis is not good in general. I'm not a fan of Mysk but I'm also not a fan of a government addicted to spending either. I guess USAID will be right back to publishing homosexual comic books in Niger.

The trail of tears bucking against Trump is long indeed. That however does not mean Musk is wrong on the BBB. BBB is a mess. He erred in choosing the wrong approach and target. Nor should Trump assume he has a lock on the MAGA crowd.
ReplyDeleteMusk has a point on the BBB, IMHO. He's handed CONgress a blueprint, through DOGE, on how and where to cut spending which CONgress, as usual, has completely ignored. In writing this bill, all they've done is followed the Pelosi formula by which bills are written. Take the last budget bill, adjust for inflation and pass it without bothering to examine the fine points. As she so eloquently put it, "We have to pass it to see what's in it".
ReplyDeleteThis reconciliation and rescission process is more CONgressional boolchit to make The People think that they're actually going to come back to the table and make the cuts later. Total HORSECHIT. When was the last time CONgress actually did that? Anyone? Bueller?

Yes....Musk has a massive ego. So does Trump. BFD.
ReplyDeleteThe difference between them is one of them was elected to the presidency, three times.
ReplyDeleteThe other one was asked to help. He's not. He needs to STFU, and toddle off back to his play yard, because adults are talking, and his tantrums make him look like the spoiled brat he is.
I'll agree Musk failed here on optics alone. But the only man with a gun in a knife fight rarely loses. If Trump thinks he needs the Golden Dome to protect the US, neither NASA, USAF, SpaceForce are going to get the assets 'up there'. The gun is Falcon 9 rocket(s) and it has one particular owner.
DeleteProbably more in play here than the BBB and big egos we are unaware of. Regardless somebody needs to get Trump, Musk, Johnson in a room and at least deescalate this for the good of the country as a whole. They are more formidable as a team than sparing partners. 'Art of the Deal'.
Different topic. Aesop what's the real skivvy on the ground in LA? You are closer to the action so probably hear more than is being reported.
ReplyDeleteBunch of illegals and their minders are holding riots whenever ICE raids work sites in the (90% illegal alien sweatshops) garment district, and LAPD is captive of communist mayor and DIE hire Karen Bass. The last time this happened was when LA's mayor was diversity hire Tom Bradley during the Rodney King free shoes and TVs riots.
ReplyDeleteSo Trump activated the Notional Guard. Hopefully with orders to shoot on sight, but probably not. ICE missed a golden opportunity to run the bastards over yesterday when they were blocking vehicles.
It's a fart in a phone booth, but hopefully they start using live ammo, and arresting the survivors and throwing them in Gitmo for domestic terrorism.
One can but hope.
Very well said - this isn't some 10-D chess scenario, just Elon having a bipolar moment.
