"It would indeed be a tragedy if the history of the human race proved to be nothing more than the story of an ape playing with a box of matches on a petrol dump." - David Ormsby-Gore
Three reasons that even with hindsight it was the right call 1. Pearl harbor pissed off even the staunchest isolationist. 2. Iwo jima was a meat grinder and losses were not sustainable. 3. Okinawa was even worse and showed what was in store when the main island was landed on estimated 2 years and 2-3 million casualties allied and 50 - 90 million Japanese.
The two bombs saved tens if not hundreds of millions of lives. Revisionists history's aside.
For comic relief, here's a link to the comic book magnate's post about the Manhattan Project being a fraud: https://voxday.net/2023/08/07/oppenheimer-and-the-manhatten-psyop/ VD can be interesting at times, but other times he gets very deep into the fever swamps(the non-existent lunar landings, etc). For being such a "smart man", too often he comes off as being a "shoyteh de'oraisah".
A few years ago you posted the flash shadows results of Hiroshima (I think) which I sent to a liberal friend who had been annoying me with his pompous attitude over our open southern border.
He screamed bloody murder and we haven't spoken since (his call).
Just wondering. With all of the talk about certain descendants' demanding reparations now, are any reparations going to be paid by the Japanese and German Governments to descendants of American soldiers, sailors, and Marines who spent years eliminating their bid for world domination? (Asking for a friend.)
Sadly the ape appears to have lit a different match and it is in play -- depopulation. Nearly all of western Europe, parts of Asia and South America are below replacement levels of birth rates. Our economies have never faced a situation like this and there is a slim chance that we may not recover from it.

Chuck Norris was dropped twice as a baby - once at Hiroshima, once at Nagasaki.
