Vlad Wisdom

I leave town for a couple of days far from anything higher-tech than a wristwatch, and the Putinophile Usual Suspects wet themselves with glee when he rockets multiple cities far from the front lines. Exactly like he's been doing to Ukrainians since February. >yawn<

1) Cities don't move very fast, so this wasn't a particularly impressive technical feat.

2) People who you've been shelling for seven months aren't liable to lose heart when you do it yet again.

3) Interested third parties aren't inclined to take you more seriously when you bomb cities instead of armies.

4) Both of them have, in fact, tripled down on their resolve, and their aid guarantees, and the phrase "war crimes" moves from whispers to bullhorns.

5) When your armies, plural, are getting their asses handed to them on a platter for over a month straight, you might want to think about shelling those military formations that vex you. If you could find them and target them correctly. Everybody also notices when you can't do that: their army, your own army, and the armies of friendly and unfriendly nations now know you can't hit Jack or Shit, unless Jack's a third-grader on the swings in the playground.

6) When all you have is a tack hammer, even your problems that really are nails give you trouble.

7) Vlad has now announced it's open season in return on actual Russians in actual Russia. That rarely ends well. Ask Zombie Herman Goering.

All Vlad has accomplished is to look like a bigger and more murderous @$$hole, with a weaker and less-competent military than before. The only things helping him now are that his supply lines are 100 miles closer to Russian territory than they were in August, and he's got 60,000 less troops to supply than he started out with in February.

And with time, as things develop, he may not have to worry about supplying his forces in Crimea any more at all. As the king said in The Princess Bride, "Won't that be nice?"

Well-played. It's like Christmas in October.

  1. Putin’s Fake-Right defeatist apologists are also doubling down on how it’s America’s fault and bringing us closer to nuclear war. Reminds me of the peaceniks who demanded we abandon South Vietnam at all costs.

  2. The problem with shelling the military forces that vex you is that they tend to shoot back.

Much safer to lob missiles from off shore or from within the airspace of the Rodina far outside of counterbattery range. (at least they are out of range for now).

  3. @Big Country,

Thanks. I was holding the receipt, just in case. You owe me nothing. No idea what you're talking about. It ain't the last one, either. Stay strong, hang in there, and I look forward to your blog when you get one stood up on its feet.

  5. No, not at all! They're just misguided, and simply haven't noticed that average Ukrainian citizens don't want to be gang-raped and Holodomored by Russia yet again, like their parents and grandparents were.

  6. Notice the Truck Bomb was on the Northern Side of Bridge? That is the East to West bound lane. The Truck Bomb came from Russia. The truck traveled most of journey from Russia to Crimea. IMO they were going to detonate the truck bomb over the Ship Channel a few thousand meters farther west, but the person with the detonator saw the oil tank cars and decided to try to damage the real Russian logistics resource, the double train tracks from Russia to Crimea.

Vladimir Putin must be concerned. The bomb was either built in Russia, or their border security is so porous the bomb came from somewhere else, AND it made it through a war time security checkpoint. (Hey Vlad! Maybe someone in Russia hates you?)

  7. Russia launched massive cruise missile strikes on Monday and Tuesday. Compare that to when the US Military gets busy

Monday: "Russian forces conducted a massive missile strike attack against over 20 cities, including Kyiv, on October 10. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Russian forces launched over 84 cruise missiles and 24 drone attacks, 13 of which were carried out with Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones. Ukrainian air defense shot down 43 cruise missiles, 10 Shahed-136 drones, and 3 unspecified drones."

Tuesday: "Russian forces conducted massive missile strikes across Ukraine for the second day in a row on October 11. The Ukrainian General Staff stated that Russian forces fired nearly 30 Kh-101 and Kh-55 cruise missiles from Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers."

The US hit one target with 40 cruise missiles trying to get Saddam. "According to the Associated Press, unnamed military officials have said that this second wave of U.S.-led air attacks did not signify the start of the “shock and awe” air campaign of some 3,000 missiles and bombs predicted by Pentagon planners." https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/middle_east-jan-june03-baghdad_03-20

    1. 84 missles is one sortie of American cruse missles. We sent this and more against single targets in Syria. How many targets got hit by those 84 low quality missles?

  8. The Russian Federation hasn't done a "Dresden" yet, in my opinion they should on the Kiev government district.

If Poland persists in attacking the Russian Federation (which nullifies the NATO treaty) they could and should "get some" too.

Looks like Hungary is playing it smart, maybe France too.
