Sunday Music: You Can Leave Your Hat On
Randy Newman classic from 1972, sung by the incomparable Joe Cocker in 1986, when it peaked at #35. Video bits from 9½ Weeks. If you can get Kim Basinger, or some equivalent, to dance to this, I highly recommend it.
Joe and Leo Kotke are two great musicians. I have a number of their songs including this one on my phone. That movie, omg that movie one of the greatest innuendo scene's ever made.
I'm assuming you know this, hence the word "equivalent", but the gal dancing was probably not Kim Bassinger. My understanding is that in movieland if you can't clearly see the face it's not the actual actress or actor in the shot or scene.
After 25 years on set, I'm pretty familiar with the working on movies. ;)
That scene may not have been 100% Basinger, but at 32 and a former model, she didn't need much doubling, there wasn't any nudity, and she's pretty clearly identifiable throughout the scene.
The "equivalent" comment is due to the fact that as she's currently pushing 70, you probably want a far younger version of her for your next performance.
I think it relies on speculative assumptions and confirmation bias, rather than facts on the ground.
Call me when Vlad actually marches triumphantly into Kyiv, after the entire Ukrainian resistance melts away.
Oberst Heinz: "Can you imagine us in London?" Richard Blaine:"When you get there, ask me."
What's absolutely true, and what I pointed out weeks ago, (http://raconteurreport.blogspot.com/2022/05/who-run-bartertown.html) is that the fate of Ukraine hangs less in the power of Russia, and more in the power of the West - to deliver critical war materiel. Or withhold it. That's proving to be exactly the case at the moment.
But claiming the war is over? Pure ludicrous fapping fantasy.
That video is horrendously mislabeled. Tom Jones didn't cover the song 7 years before Randy Newman wrote it, and that clip is probably after he did cover it for The Full Monty, which was in 1997, not 1965.
Hot damn, haven't heard that in forever! Was addicted to it for awhile. Thanks
ReplyDeleteBeen a long time since I've heard that one. Good memories.
