I have watched this video a few times over the years for reinforcement. My son who always claimed to know this rule once talked to them and learned a good lesson.
Awesome father! I took my sons to traffic court just to observe. Afterward we would get a bite to eat and 'de-brief'. Some of their analysis was spot on and hysterical. "That guy was full of shit and the judge knew it."
Never, ever talk to cops!! That should be/should have been cast in stone in your brain by now. Cops of any flavor are corrupt and serve/protect the public according to the pension and bennies they get. Remember NONE of them are or will be your friends.......EVER. Forget the sob stories or the loving helping hand they offer. Never say a word without a lawyer at your side. No comment, know nothing, saw nothing, heard nothing. Just remember 4 small words "where is my lawyer". Stand Tall!! Be quiet!!.......... Act silent. That's what I heard.
The law has changed some since then, as the trial of the Kenosha kid revealed: You can get away with telling the jury: He would not have refused to talk (plead the 5th) if "he did not have something to hide".
There's a book I've given to most of my nephews about the replacement of the 6th for the 5th... I'll try to track it down.
TL'DR: Lawyer, lawyer, lawyer: "I am exercising my 6th amendment right to a lawyer. I will only talk to you with my lawyer present."
Moderna. Trend continues. The world is waking up.

I had a former Homicide detective as an instructor many moons ago.
ReplyDeleteHe stated that when a suspect talked to them, they almost always got a conviction.
When a suspect refused to talk and lawyered up, they almost never got a conviction.

ReplyDeleteEach time I watch it I email the link to my kids.

I've made both of my boys watch it - we'll probably watch it again.
