It's tough to steal someone else's song, especially when they're a mega-group, and even sweeter when you do it better and make it yours. But when total nobodies The Flying Lizards grabbed the Beatle's 1963 version of Money and gave it some New Wave polish (and a great vocal) in 1979, the result eclipsed the Fab Four's original effort by a country mile, and made them one-hit wonders.

ReplyDeleteMy mother was the news director at a small radio station in Kansas, back in the 80s, and her little brother and a handful of his friends had a running prank going with one of the DJs there where they would request-bomb his show asking for this song...good times.
