I've been unable to find the hustler cartoon from the 70's, where the monk is on fire and the other monk says "he looks calm now, but wait till the fire gets to his balls"
He was obviously crazy, anyone who sets themselves on fire is, there are far less painful ways to suicide. However, I read his final letter. Just because he was crazy doesn't mean he didn't get a lot right in what he was describing.
