When your consultants, and staff, are ignorant, pompous, and unwilling to accept their views are a minority view, you end up with head scratching. They either don't have a clue, or are unwilling to accept they're intentions will lead to bankruptcy. Most people don't care for transgender Disney characters, nor want their kids to watch the perversion.
The ultimate problem is that studios don't make films for the audience any more. After that giant "F U" from the studios, the audience is giving it back in spades.
I was pleasantly surprised by the movie 'The Life of Chuck'. I haven't heard any public advertising, but a trusted friend told me he enjoyed it a lot, and thought I would too. So I gave it a chance and enjoyed this past Tuesday. Based on a Stephen King short story. Recommended.
The Disney 'Colors of the Rainbow' and other silly WOKE movies - I will not give any $$$ for those. I hate that with heat of a 1000 suns ....
What is truly baffling is the production companies ignorance. CA has become so expensive and regulatory to the film industry (and others) that it is cheaper to take the whole lot and produce the film on location other than CA. So while they are producing the film the people operate in a bubble not noticing that 'there is a whole another world' out there and persist in their Holy Grail of LBWGHTUOWIP0@#$%@ or whatever.
All true. If only CA had gotten a governor who understood every aspect of the movie business, and had some vested interest in keeping production in the state based on his years of experience in The Biz. Oh, wait...

ReplyDeleteTrue, but that's only a subset of the problem.
