While I shared a tiny ember of initial optimism, it quickly became apparent there was nothing serious happening.
Because:
1) It's Abbott. For most TX residents, that was enough to know already.
2) The immediate nearly universal support of The Brotherhood Of RINO Governors, which amounted to nothing more than hearty approval for Abbott Doing More Nothing, while looking like it was Something. That's a political consultant's wet dream, especially in a presidential election year.
When Abbott issues "Shoot On Sight" orders for illegal crossers, starts rounding up illegals in his own state, and incarcerates any federal interlopers for any interference with either policy, give a holler.
Until then, it's nothing but the product from the south end of a north-bound steer, and useful only as rose fertilizer.
Like. We. Told. You.
Welcome to Chiquitastan.
Holding out for minefields.
ReplyDeleteone of the things people fail to understand is all the NG equipment in texas is federally owned. every truck, every hummvee, every tent, every photocopy, every pen..all of it is federal.
ReplyDeleteit doesn't move without federal approval. so all those vehicles transporting the NG around are doing so with full federal approval.
the people aren't federal...until they're federalized..but everything other than the uniforms they're wearing is federal property. the governor can use the people, but he has zero authority to use any of the equipment.
so everything going on with the NG in texas is a sideshow, put on for our entertainment, funded and 100% approved by the feds.
we think "something" is being done, the feds use this as a shiny object to distract your attention from everything else going on.
I think one thing Abbot did accomplish was putting illegal immigration on the political map by sending illegals to the sanctuary cities. Illegal Immigration is now a major issue in the presidential elections. FINALLY, those who were math challenged finally saw what many border states saw a long time ago - TAKING CARE OF ANYONE FOR FREE GETS EXPENSIVE FAST !!
ReplyDeleteSo Abbot gets two thumbs up for at least that. Texas spent a lot of $$$ sending them too so taxpayers (myself included as a Texan) had their haircut from this as well.
I wanted piranha and alligators in the Rio Grande but the drug cartels voted that out. Shucks !!
ReplyDeleteWilder,
ReplyDeleteAussie Crocs in the Rio is my choice.
Aesop,
One thing of note, New Mexico crossings are up. But yeah, Eagle Pass is like a boulder in the stream.
Interesting factoid about the NG equipment not moving without fed approval. I hypothesize the NG actually helped facilitate the border crossings.
ReplyDeleteSame thing I've been saying about my state. It is illegal to transport, or facilitate the transport of, illegal aliens in TN. Whenever the state .gov talks tough, I ask when they're going to start arresting federal employees who are blatantly escorting illegals into our state. The answer? Crickets.
