SSDD

Nothing special going on. Just took a few days off for binge-watching a couple of series I never got around to when they were running. No commercials. No cliffhangers. Just cold drinks and handy snacks, while doing a lot of nothing, in between naps.

Free car wash the other night when it rained like hell until mid-morning.

Couple of shopping trips to places that sell toys for grown-ups.

Generally doing a lot of nothing in between stints at work, lifeguarding in the shallow end of the gene pool. A job that waits on human stupidity for business will never want for customers, including folks old enough to know better who still find brave new ways to donate internal organs. Hope you're well.

  1. Toys?
    Hand-held, or shoulder mounted?

  3. Happy you're back. Always worry you got the lassa/marburg/dengue when you're absent. Enjoy the down time.

  4. Seems like you had a very nice break. Always pleasant to watch old shows and acquire some new toys. Brings a whole new perspective to the events of the day.

Glad to see you are back.

  5. Blessings. Sometimes, doing of a whole bunch of "cuz I wanna" is good for the soul, the psychic, and makes you resistant to government approved bombardment. Personally, I LOVED Justified. It got me through both knee replacements with aplomb. I am now on the last season of Virgin River; the Lincoln Lawyer is good too. I would be interested what your take is on concierge medicine? My previous doctor, who was everything a GOOD doctor should be, took his practice concierge. ($400 a month & you bill the insurances.)It is still a joy to call his office where folks are happy, well paid, and take care of. Kind of like old fashioned doctoring. I wish that I could've afforded to stay. I have been battling valley virus/rsv/unknown for 2 weeks. Mind you, no one is sure since I "have insurance" but "no doctor" until May 23. So, no ER runs a sputum test, orders a chest xray, etc. Frankly, I am sick of being sick. ObamaCare has ruined the practice of medicine. And IMHO, medicine is an ART and not a SCIENCE. A pox on the CDC,NHS,and most of all the WHO. What is your take, since you are out in the all-too-buggy field? God Help Us as the unwashed herds bring their diseases with them.

  7. Good to see you active.

Money invested in durable goods is a great way of storing your wealth in an era of hyperinflation

  8. "... lifeguarding in the shallow end of the gene pool."

    Classic quip.

You are going to be a busy Aesop. We have another 1m ready to jump our border in the next couple of days.

  9. Stay healthy. That is not meant to be an encouragement; it is a warning. “Founded on legacies of colonialism and racism, medical education has historically centered White learners and continues to perpetuate structural racism.4 Pedagogical approaches often center White learners and ignore the differential impact of content on BIPOC learners (Black, Indigenous, or people of color) with personal experiences of racism that are nuanced and have been informed by interactions and observations over their lifetimes. Immersion in the existing medical education system can therefore be retraumatizing, resulting in imposter syndrome, heightened anxiety, and a reduced sense of belonging. Especially as we seek to recruit more medical students who are BIPOC, we need to recognize this harm and encourage pedagogical approaches that support the needs of BIPOC learners.” 4/27/23 New England Journal of Medicine

  10. I'll pile on, though having been out-and-about I've been in meatspace more than cyber. Good on ya on your purchases, especially the optics; they cab be a force multiplier.
Justified is worth the time, glad I bought it on disc.
