I went to the actual Killing Fields on the outskirts of Phnom Penh about ten years ago.
The commies didn't want to waste scarce ammo, so they hit adults on the back of the neck with a pickaxe handle, and children were picked up by the ankles, swung in a circle and smashed against a tree. Very economical.
