If I lived in a Constitutional Carry state like AZ, I would not wear this t-shirt. It's how I would carry an actual Beretta 92 during December. It's only fair.
And no, Gun Karens, no one would take it away from me, because of the loaded MP-5 on a three-point sling.
And even if they did take it:
Oops. No bullets.
If you're going to go with something, commit all the way, right?
Whatever you pick, we wish all Happy Christmas viewing. I'd watch this, but I've got the entire 1st season of Reacher to binge-watch instead.
Yippie Ki Yay.
We are Die-Harders here. Good times.
ReplyDeleteI like the merch. DieHard IS definitely a Christmas movie. Anyone who says otherwise loses his man card.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the IMDB Die Hard trivia page, one of the entries notes that Bruce Willis himself denied that Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
ReplyDeleteNot my cup of tea, alas. I miss the days when some of us would do nuclear war simulations over the holiday, ranging from Alas Babylon to The Guardians(first book), Arc Light and so on. But the organizer died a few years ago(before kung-flu) and he was the only professional game designer in our group. I still have my autographed copy of Kahn's On Thermonuclear War on my book shelf.
Read Garibaldi's post: Willis denied it at a celebrity roast of himself.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't count.
WHERE the EF did ya git the REACHER season???
ReplyDeleteNight Driver (who has to get out from under his rock SOMETIME!!)
Sorry, I'm a bit skeptical, tovarisch. Proper Christmas movies aren't set in southern California, in shirt-sleeve weather. For Christmas viewing, pick your favorite movie rendition of A Christmas Carol (I'd suggest the George C. Scott one as definitive). Fun fact: Bob Cratchit showed up years and years later as "Chancellor Gorkon" in Star Trek 6. Must be a decent actor; I'd never have guessed that if I hadn't just happened to notice it in the credits.
ReplyDeleteBut, whatever ... have a quiet evening and bust open a few walnuts (yes, California ones) and enjoy.
No Christmas is complete without Die Hard and Christmas Vacation. If there's time add in Home Alone.
ReplyDeleteHey Aesop. You got my vote for supreme leader when the big igloo happens. Apparently our more liberal cities to the north and south of my state decided to start busing their bums here. I'm about to have a fucking stroke because the night shift charge nurse decided to start using the vertical care* section of the ER as a homeless shelter. Leaving everybody on day shift to deal with the rift raft.
ReplyDeleteWe've already butted heads over the issue. She didn't like it when I suggested putting up a couple of the junkies she felt sorry for in her house. Since she's got two guest bedrooms. Really didn't like it when I told her to take the new contract money she's taking in and open her own homeless shelter.
What really fucking bothers me isn't the begging and the smell. It's the litter. Sorry ass junkie pieces of shit can't be bother to properly dispose of their trash. Singapore has the right idea for handling litter.
I'm passing it up to the admin next. Hopefully it gets handled.
*Vertical care is a section that handles everything that doesn't fall under an emergency. Tooth ache, cold, stubbed toe, etc. Get in. Get out. Awesome for clearing out the ER
@Night - Reacher is on Amazon Prime...also check out Night Sky.
ReplyDeleteThe Christian News magazine world news did a survey of favorite Christmas movies. Top of the list was Charlie Brown Christmas (of course) but tied for tenth was die hard. Pretty funny for a Christian magazine to get die hard in its top ten list.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta follow the rules though and if you open that door of Die Hard being a Christmas movie those rules lead to some pretty silly shit. If Die Hard is a Christmas movie then all sorts of movies are Christmas movies. Invasion USA, Ghost and the Darkness, at least one Lethal Weapon, Dawn of The Dead, all sorts of movies have at least as much Christmas junk as Die Hard...
ReplyDeleteThe first Lethal Weapon movie was a Christmas movie. You could look it up. ;)
ReplyDelete@Anon...Red Dawn had Winter scenes, could be a Christmas movie. It's also more relevant that ever.
ReplyDeleteDie Hard is a Christmas movie, not just because it takes place during the Christmas season, but also because it's all about renewal and rebirth, about hope and faith which were lost then found.
ReplyDeleteIt's also about good vs evil. Hans falling from.the tower at the end is a allegory about the Devil's fall from grace.
It's all there and it's so patently obvious that I shouldn't have to point it out.
Well then: Donovan's Reef (1963) John Wayne
