Back around 1998, talk.politics.guns had a thread on citizen resistance. Lots of good opinions, lots of bluster and discussion, a good time had by all and they're all probably on a watch list. Aesop, Any interest in a Russian translation for "Where there is no doctor"? I am sending it to my contacts in Ukraine and it goes with an apology for the Russian language, but I think the info is good. Some of my contacts don't have access to their regular doctor right now due to the war. Anyways.. Just throwing it out there.
Some short while ago there was some discussion here about jellied gasoline and it was mentioned that styrofoam could be dissolved in the gas (as best as could be recalled at the time.)
That's exactly what these folks are doing. They're using the little beads from a bean bag chair or similar... although there isn't any mention of it in the article.
There are many ways to defeat tanks with common items; most of them requiring sneaking up next to or behind them, so they require courage and the right conditions.
Interest? Sure. If you want to link to it, I'll post it. Not being fluent in Russian, it won't do me any good, but I'm sure it might come in useful over there.
A platoon of M1s use a fueler's worth of gas a day. Fuelers were (back in my day at least) unarmored, usually 1 driver per only, and usually not particularly gung ho. Take from that what you will.

ReplyDeleteOne of soldiers biggest complaints going from the M60 to the M1 was no more belly hatch so they had to climb out to pee..
