Breaking: NFY Quarantine; R.I. Calls Out NG Troops To Go House-To-House

h/t Irish

If only I had a nickel from every smart/stupid m*****f****r who told me in the last two weeks this would never happen. :

Rhode Island police began stopping cars with New York plates Friday. On Saturday, the National Guard will help them conduct house-to-house searches to find people who traveled from New York and demand 14 days of self-quarantine.
“Right now we have a pinpointed risk,” Governor Gina Raimondo said. “That risk is called New York City.”
New York is the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S., on Friday reporting a total of 44,000 cases.
“Yesterday I announced and today I reiterated: Anyone coming to Rhode Island in any way from New York must be quarantined,” the governor said. “By order. Will be enforced. Enforceable by law.”
Gov. Raimondo signed an executive order Thursday that applies to anyone who has been in New York during the past two weeks and through at least April 25. It doesn’t apply to public health, public safety, or health-care workers.

National Guard members will be stationed at the T.F. Green airport, Amtrak train stations and at bus stops. The citizen-soldiers will be following up with people at local residences. The maximum penalty for not complying: a fine of $500 and 90 days in prison.
And in D.C.:
White House Calls For 14-day Quarantine For All leaving New York
The White House urged anyone who has been in New York to self-quarantine for 14 days to stop the spread of the coronavirus, which has become widespread in the city.

“You may have been exposed before you left New York,” Deborah Birx, the State Department doctor who is advising Vice President Mike Pence, said at a White House news conference on Tuesday. “Everybody who was in New York should be self-quarantining for the next 14 days to ensure that the virus doesn’t spread to others.”

I've been telling people that failure to comply with voluntary quarantines would get you mandatory ones, enforced by smiling Notional Guard troops at onramps, etc., with M-4s, and loaded magazines.

It's here, now.

Welcome to the New Normal.

Shit: Real.
It's now official.
And serious as a 5.56 coming your way at 3200fps.

ROE: Zero fucks will be given.

Comport yourselves accordingly.

  1. "It doesn’t apply to public health, public safety, or health-care workers." Cause they couldn't possibly be exposed to the virus or carry it, right? Jeez. What hypocrisy, and what a hole in your defenses.

  2. +1 for Anonymous. Letting anyone in, for any reason, is a vector.

  3. Um, yeah... notice that the NG will be supporting local cops.
For myriad legal reasons, the NG (at this point) will not be issued ammo and will not be carrying out law enforcement duties - they will most likely be carrying water and directing traffic at most.
The president and Congress will have to act before their use can get to the point you mention.
The use of National Guard troops in this situation is very similar to the threats to use them in Virginia for gun confiscation; this discussion by a retired and law knowledgeable Guardsman addresses training, deployment, orders, and Federal and State law issues that mean that NG troops won't do much of anything in either situation.

    1. They won't be doing much of anything except contracting and spreading around the vector they are trying to quarantine. It's like the cop that enforces the law for breaking quarantine and then hands you a ticket within arms length or slaps some cuffs on your wrists. Yeah, that totally works.

Executive order for reserve and ready reserve.

  5. This won't do much good until they just flat out close the borders to anyone who can't prove he is a RI resident, and send everyone who isn't packing...I predict that will come, too late, as it did on the CA border during the Dust Bowl days....

  6. Start spreading the news.......New Yawkers should stay there. Instances of cases in rural areas brought by them have already occurred. Raimondo (another commie) is correct on this issue. I'd just turn them around and send them back from whence they came.

  7. As Jonathan H says, until we hear or see evidence they have arming orders to put real ammo in their guns, unless tiny Rhode Island has an MP unit they're just going to be for show, and "carrying water and directing traffic." We saw this all the time when they were sent to the southern border by posturing politicians.

One factor in this is an extreme paranoia by commanders that a negligent discharge will occur, which in the regular military would end their career. Thus starting no later than the Beirut barracks bombing sentries, unless in a hot war zone like Iraq, are almost universally not allowed to keep their weapons loaded.

  8. People are un-fucking-believable.

National Guard & State Police have been deployed, and are pulling people over AND going door to door.

“Yeah, but they don’t have ammo!”

    “Yeah but...negligent discharges!”

“They’re just glorified cops with cammies!”

    “They’re just carrying water!”

“They’re not knocking on MY door....”

“Well at least they aren’t shooting at *ME*!”

WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT TAKE FOR YOU PEOPLE TO WAKE UP?????

    Not saying we need to panic, but as Aesop said;

    *SHIT*
    *IS*
    *REAL*
    *NOW*

    JESUS you guys.....

  10. @Jonathan et al

NG can be deployed by the state governor without Federal permission.

(you could look it up, we've gone though this mental exercise repeatedly over the last few months in VA)

  11. The several State's National Guards serve at the command and pleasure of the governor of each state. They are normatively controlled operationally by an Adjutant General who answers directly to the Governor.

Unless the said NG forces are "nationalized", the Governor has plenary authority to use them for direct law enforcement duties (or other duties) with zero implication of Posse Comitatus restrictions since until they are nationalized, they are not U.S. Military troops. They are state troops under the control of the police power that inheres specifically to the states.

  12. Huh, thought that changed when they became the "Army National Guard". Took the queen's penny and all that.

Some states have a state guard in addition to the Army National Guard, that is under state control.

Admittedly not something I've spent much time on, because once soldiers are in your streets, you're fucked no matter who put them there.

  13. How many NG are self-disciplined and sentient beings that might have a box or two of commercial .556 handy but deniable, just in case.

How about force protection, as in stopping someone casually walking up to them and saying "Give me your tasty optic equipped select fire empty M4's, or I'll light you up with this WW2 surplus ironsight fully loaded with .30-06 AP Garan,d and take them from your disappointed dead stoopid bodies"?

How many even more plausible and workable scenarios we come up with. Don't forget the latency...cases & deaths today were exposed up to 2 weeks ago or more. Teh panic is coupled.

  14. Stefan: you seem to be under the impression that a lot of REMFs care about the men under their command when not at war. They didn't before the Beirut barracks bombing, and I've only heard they've gotten worse since then. And a lot of the good ones either punt after they reach Captain, or I assume some get pushed out after earning a less than perfect Officer Efficiency Report, or whatever it's called today.

  15. Uh no, nick just because the tapes say "Army" or "Air Force" does NOT mean they're the same as regulars - or even reservists. The Army and the Air Force both have Reserves for a reason. Guard troops status is as anon at 1112 stated.

  16. As soon as things kick into high gear the cops will be abandoning their posts and going home. We know this. Those of you in places like CA, NY, Atlanta, NO, Chicago, Miami etc etc better be armed to the teeth and have a defensive plan. I'm not worried about the NG Idiots. So far it's only medical people. As our esteemed host always says, No one is coming to save you. You are on your own!

  17. Those cops and NG guys are home.
Faced with stopping an invasion of plague carriers from out-of-state, they'll defend their homes to the last bullet, and then start using fire axes and machetes.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Cops will leave duty and go home to defend their families. National Guardsman will be split. Depends on where they are. In an AO where there's HIGH diversity I expect mayhem. In other places the NG will just protect the people and businesses. I wouldn't want to be in a diverse, Dense area right now. Sporky times and this ain't even started yet as you keep rightfully pointing out. Godspeed sir!

  19. Again, I fix ventilators, and live in RI. In the past two weeks, I’ve been in Rhode Island Hospital, Hartford Hospital (CT)Tufts Medical Center, (MA)Brigham and Womens, Massachusetts General, Catholic Medical Center (NH) Parkland Medical (NH), Portland Medical and Bangor(ME), and a couple more. And that’s just me, this virus, it’s going to run it’s course. I have a letter giving me safe passage. It’s here. I’m just hoping I don’t die from it, or spread it. If I could stay home, I would.

  20. Montana, March 15th first case reported, March 29th 147 cases with one dead. numbers....

  21. WTF is the CT gov not closing the border w/ NY?? Every state around NY should impose a quarantine on NY since the guv there seems to be too busy trying to make Trump look bad rather than take concrete steps to stop this virus.

Look at the national news NYFC epicenter.. but they show you that the 'special' NYFC people won't engage in social distancing. Why is NY guv not getting on these idiots?

Noted last night during the broadcast that the new epicenter is in Queens. How the hell did the center move from Westchester to Queens?

    NYFC needs a hard quarantine.

  22. This ought to be real interesting for those who were gonna cheat on their taxes by having NY vs CT, RI, or MA plates.

  23. The very first case that was discovered in Idaho was a person who had traveled directly from a conference in NYC. The second Idaho case, IIRC, was from another person who entered via Montana, but had also been at the same conference...in NYC.

  24. Yesterday Trumpty played around with a quarantine of NY metro (uncertain as to why he would muse about that publicly) For those of you who are thinking a quarantine would make logical sense, yes it would. You would want to stop the flow of potentially infected motherscratchers from their puss filled fecal lairs. So why then, no quarantine for NY metro area? Simple answer: they can't. To do so would confirm epic FUBAR in the minds of every hive dweller. A hive collapse would ensue. When shit stained commies like Bill DiBlasio start mewling for the military to come to their city you know there's a problem.

  25. Trump has a history of tossing out an extreme idea, then later settling for something achievable.

Doesn't mean that's what happened, but he's not as volatile as portrayed, at least historically.

The left calls it "moving the overton window", the right calls it "battlespace preparation". It used to be called a "trial balloon."

    Could be OG gangster threats.

No real idea but not accidental, I'm sure of that.

No. Two City wide riots.. one complete police and fire strike.. one nice but short outright race riot in old Pole town.. participated in one of our lost wars.. 3 gunshot wounds.. dozens o RPG booboos.. blended with an endless supply of media and politics.. Now we add a well engineered bio-economic shit storm and the whole farking world puts on the lemming suit and runs for the cliff... Golly.. who was that soft spoken astro-phys fella... ya know "Star Stuff".. "Extinction is the rule.. not the exception." Assope.. Essope.. Your a patient fella. Hope you make the first few culls cause this herd will need at least one voice that will drift across the room like my DI's...
