Another Douchebadge Homicide

h/ts to Kenny and Miguel

Q: When does an open front door on one's own house justify the death penalty?
A: When you're black, it's 2:30AM, and you live (for the moment) in Foat Wuth.

Well played, Officer Friendly. Another murdered citizen to chalk up to giving stupid people  guns and badges.

Like DPD assassin Amber Guyger's "accidental" shooting, this is another open and shut case of second degree murder, and nothing less.

It's easily solved: simply notify all citizens in both municipalities that "shoot on sight" works the same both ways, and tell FWPD that any citizen who sees them on the streets may open fire anywhere and any time without warning or any legal penalty, and see how they like it when the law is enforced the same both ways.

Alternatively, take away FWPD's guns and body armor for six months, and let them re-learn how to function as cops instead of killers, starting with a month-long force-wide indoctrination into Peel's Principles.

All of which to start after they fire and prosecute the officer who did this for murder, and discipline everyone involved who knew it but didn't come forward or identify it as such, beginning with their termination.

Either there's one set of laws for everyone, or there's no law at all.

If Fort Worth chooses anarchy, I suspect citizens will fare much better than rogue cops will thereabouts, but it's their choice.

The closest thing to penance Fort Worth could do by way of apology, to mitigate the relations they're about to enjoy, would be to deliver this soon-to-be-ex-officer's head to the mayor on a platter. Literally.
Anything less isn't nearly enough.
But if he were any kind of a man, he'd go home and eat his gun himself, and save everyone else the trouble.

A badge and gun are a heavy responsibility, too heavy for anyone this recklessly stupid, and this was egregious foolishness, graduating to deliberate unlawful homicide, with no excuse or mitigating circumstance whatsoever.

And it starts with thinking your ass is special, and the rules and written law don't apply to you.
He didn't learn that yesterday; this is doubtless an institutional thing, and only draconian measures are ever going to burn it out of the woodwork once and for all.

But in slim mitigation of this murder, FWPD did exactly two things right here:
1) Required their officers to wear body cams.
2) Released the footage immediately.

Now, go on a roll, starting with firing the officer, vacating all criminal and civil immunity for cause, handing him over to the D.A. with a department recommendation for indictment for second-degree murder, and make his partner an accomplice.

Then this will stop being funny to TPTB and the idiots who do it, and become a goddam lot less frequent.

  3. @Anonymous 0748: The core issue itself has nothing to do with race. There was another one recently in TX where, apparently now, checking out people prowling around YOUR HOME & being ARMED while doing so is a capital offense, subject to summary execution.

Not gonna happen. It never does. It never has. It never will. Whitey don't riot and tear shit up.
Badge = Carte Blanche. 007 License to kill. Any of We the Peons who did that would be up for Murder 1.
If the victim had been White it wouldn't have made the news.

  5. Part of this is the police training. And that is why Swatting is so dangerous. The police in their cars get a call with very limited information that a possible crime is happening and very significantly it is happening in a neighborhood that is crime ridden and unfriendly to the police. So the police show up expecting the worst ready to encounter an armed criminal and fully aware that it could be a trap or a neighbor or passer by may not like police and could shoot them. So they go into the situation with great tension. This officer did not have the experience and obviously the good sense to supplement his training with common sense and he killed an innocent person. I am not one of those who wants to throw the baby out with the bath water. Deal with this incident and move on. 98% of the police are good people and we need them.

  6. "98% of the police are good people and we need them."

That percentage may be a bit high, but I don't know that, in most places, cops have any higher percentage of dirtbags than the general population. The problem being that the dirtbags have a reasonable expectation of actually getting away with it. By all means, deal with this incident, let's start with second degree murder and 20-life. We non-badge-wearers tend to want problem people taken care of with extreme prejudice.

They have a dangerous job? So do firemen, but they don't hose their neighbors off while they're lighting the grill because they panicked and saw flames.

    Mark D

If you're going into someone's home, and THEY didn't call you (in this case it was the neighbors reporting an open door), the MOST likely person to encounter is the person who's actually supposed to be there. Act accordingly.

Or how about, you see your neighbor's door open, you, I dunno, CALL them on the phone to see if they're OK/home/got distracted after bringing in the groceries. In a bad neighborhood I can understand not wanting to go investigate, but FFS someone in the neighborhood should have their phone number, or their name so you can look up their number. Or maybe just mind your own effing business.

  7. You have two officers on scene.
    you have two doors.
how about, just for the helluvit, one officer covers each door, and then the one in front knocks on the door/rings the goddam doorbell, announces "Police!", and you see what happens???

Jesusfuckingchrist, this shit was common practice when police shows were on the goddam RADIO, because TV wasn't invented yet.

"98% of the police are good people and we need them."
    Assumes facts not in evidence.

Based on actual experience, 30% of the police are a waste of skin and oxygen, and should be summarily dismissed.
Another 30% are putting in their time; they don't go out of their way to shine, but they try not to fuck up too badly either. That's average.
30% of them are A-J Squared Away, and kick ass.
And a solid 10% are criminals and psychopaths, and should be ruthlessly weeded out with chainsaws.
    Actual ones.

Plug in those variables, and rethink the rest of your paragraph.

  9. So 70% of all LEO's are lazy, dumb, psychos, roid infused wife/gf beaters, and last but not least PC appointees.Agreed! The remaining 30% I consider "soft touches". The good eggs as it were/is are those that like the $, BJ's, free food, et al, on and on! LOL There are no good cops. Ergo, The 30% that are "squared away" succumb to the "soft" offerings. You get the pix, right?

  10. Aesop, I so wish hope and pray that your articles would be included in the (any) President's Daily Briefing....... you admirably cut through all the felgercarb of PC, stupidity, and excuse-making, and bring REALITY to the fore...... GOD bless you, man.......

    ReplyDelete
  11. "Part of this is the police training." Also, "98% of the police are good people."

Aren't around cops too much are you? Aesop's number are a lot closer to the mark, though depending on your jurisdiction, there may be less than 10% psychos and more wastes of skin and time doers.

You realize that absolutely ZERO part of police training, which you cite as a problem, tests for "good people"? What it tests for is "officer safety," uber alles. It may vary ever so slightly in different states but in California, I was washed out of one academy for failing to draw down and scream at a "depressed person" in a scenario. Officer safety, don'cha know. In my exit interview, I told them it was bullshit. Then they told me I was bullshit - they didn't want someone who "seemed smart" around. This was a major metropolitan dept, you've all heard of.

Being a hard headed sort, I went to a different academy down the road. California, being the land of retards, had the exact same scenario as sure as night followed day. When I drew down and started screaming at the depressed person, as I was supposed to do, the trainers laughed, until they flipped the page and saw that was exactly what I was supposed to do. Flew through with flying colors when I play-acted the psychotic, hyperventilating "muh-officer-safety" lunatic.

That sort of training yields North Miami Police/Charles Kinsey level bullshit, not "98% good people."

  12. This shooting makes me angry. What happened to going to the front door or standing off a ways and notifying all in earshot that you are the police? It would be acceptable if both officers were shot for moving around in the dark like that. Police work is very challenging, but you can't shoot first and sort everyone out later.

It makes me not want to call the police if help is needed! I'll just take care of it myself and when it is over call the coroner.

When the police come you should leave the weapons inside and be prostrate on the lawn.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I still believe that 98% of police are good and every response to my statement where you attempted to disagree actually supported my point. You point to one or two cops and declare that they are all worthless. Please do the math; 1 or 2 bad cops out of hundreds means 98% or so are good cops. Deal with each situation within the legal system. I suspect that this cop will get some punishment for his acts. I also suspect that the other 98% of the police who did not commit this act will not be punished. I also suspect that for those of you who hate cops this will make you unhappy.

  14. Ft. Worth cops are a bunch of trigger-happy cowboys. They killed a man in his own carport a few years back when he came out to investigate who was in his back drive. Citizen came out with a pistol - and got shot for it. The cops were at the WRONG fucking address.....and they got away with cold-blooded murder.

Oh, I see, you wish to have a religious discussion about your belief, and not one based on evidence.
Because the number of "bad apples" anywhere is one or two per day, times any 100 largest cities, just for openers.

You keep thinking 98% of anyone is "good guys".
And don't forget to leave your tooth under the pillow so you'll get a quarter, too.

    10% of anything is shit.
Your job, my job, anyone's job.
Saw it in school, saw it in the military, saw it and see it in a dozen occupations and professions.
Drill instructor wisdom is "You will always have the 10%."
And he wasn't referring to the top 10%, either.

Wake up and have a steaming hot cup of reality.
    It'll do you good.

  17. It really DOES NOT MATTER if the numbers of good :::choke choke gag gag::::: cops equals 2% or 92%. If ALL of them are not 100% sure and squared away Paragons Of Virtue, they're ALL rotten!!! Anyone... ANYONE.... hell, EVERY person (cop, FLEA, judge, prosecutor, prison guard, politician )that has the power of Life and Death over others must ab-so-lute-ly be above reproach, above recrimination, above pettiness and self-centeredness precisely because they are entrusted with so much responsibility, authority, and POWER of Life & Death judgements. If they can't be a paragon of virtue at all times in all situations..... they need to find another job.

Former Fort Worth Police Officer Aaron Dean Charged With Murder For Shooting Atatiana Jefferson

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – The Fort Worth Police officer who shot and killed a woman in her home early Saturday morning has been booked into the Tarrant County Jail and charged with murder.

Bond for Aaron Dean was set at $200,000, but the Tarrant County Jail confirmed after 9:30 p.m. Monday, he had bonded out of jail.

Records from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement show Dean received crisis intervention training two months ago.

The Fort Worth Police Department has said since shortly after the shooting happened, it would be as transparent and give updates in the case as much as possible.

The department tweeted around 7:15 p.m. Monday, “Aaron Dean was arrested by Fort Worth Police on Oct. 14. Dean has been charged with murder of Atatiana Jefferson. Dean is in the Tarrant County Jail.”

  20. It is all in the person you hire. As a retired FLEA I can tell you there were a few times I could have legally used deadly force but didn't.

  21. 98% good? 90% good? sounds like pretty acceptable numbers right? we're talking about murder here and 2% bad sucks badly.

now what about lesser stuff like beatings, accepting 'tips', intimidation, focusing on bs traffic citations rather than serious patrol work, etc. If I said "none of that stuff gets the news attention" I would be speaking out my ass having never been involved on any side of those actions. Think I'll go out on my own personal limb and assume it happens not infrequently. Hmm, comments?

OK then, so there are some bad apples, and some that just are brown and dirty. What about that "majority" of good ones that say or do nothing to turn in the bad ones? What!?!??! snitch on your fellow boys, the same ones who you might need to save your ass some day? OOOOhhhh never.

Badges and guns carry great responsibility, especially when dealing with others who have them. To keep you mouth shut, to say nothing and look the other way... GUILTY as the one who commits the crime. And as a non-leo, IMO, double guilty because of the loss of respect and trust which the general public sort of expected from those entrusted with guns and badges.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Dean has not yet hired an attorney but will have one provided with financial support from the state's largest police union, the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, according to Charley Wilkison, executive director.

  23. We need peace officers, like we had decades ago, not LEOs that blindly enforce every stupid effing law on the books. It should be about judgement and keeping the peace, not revenue sharing. Also, peace officers should be held to a higher, not lower, standard than normal citizens for conduct. If that pinches your tighty whities then get a job at Wal-Mart instead of being a peace officer.

  24. It is ironic that on a blog whit so many that support the 2nd amendment can clearly see that when a very small percentage of the population commits a gun crime that this should not be used to punish all gun owners. And yet when a very small percentage of the police commit crimes and mistakes they believe that it is OK to accuse all police of being bad. You all have some serious introspection to deal with.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What color is the sky in your world?

It's ironic that you've missed the last 3,000 stories of police shooting unarmed people, shooting people in the back, killing people because they could, robbing them, raping them, terrorizing them, testilying about them, convicting them on made up evidence, no evidence, planted evidence, and generally being exactly the shits they're accused of being, 24/7/365, because power corrupts, and this has Fuck and All to do with your idiotic "One Bad Apple" recockulous theory, fighting upstream against hundreds to thousands of counter-examples.

Sweet Suffering Shiva, man, it's been barely over a week since a jury took about two hours to convict Officer Killbitch of the Dallas PD, right up the road from Foat Wuth, where this outrage occurred, of murdering her upstairs neighbor under color of authority, because Muh Big Heavy Badge And Gun and Special Privileges For Cops.

Maybe, just for the novelty, wake up and look around, and stop white knighting anonymously for a bunch of douchebadges. (And FTR, no one said all cops are bad, which is as braindead as thinking they're all good either.)

Sheriff Andy, Sgt. Friday, and Officers Malloy are all dead and buried, and Officer Reed retired decades ago. But the Keystone Kops are around 24/7/365/forever.

The poster children for the average American law enforcement officer are Mitch Brailsford and Lon Horiuchi, and that covers from Ruby Ridge in the early 1990s to about five minutes ago.

So, did you want to talk about the weather, or just make chit-chat...?

  27. Your religious proclivities are your own business, but unless they conform to reality, they won't be of much help to you, and one day when you lest wish or expect it, your surprise will be abrupt and unpleasant.

And if the military acted like cops do, the number put up against a wall and shot by their superiors for good cause would decimate their ranks. But that's because military superiors show a far greater concern for internal discipline than those running police departments do.

The police are what happen when you have ex-military rank and file, but bereft of supervision by ex-military NCOs and officers (who got their positions by earning them), and are instead supervised by civilian NCOs and officers, who got their positions by political facility and studied expedience. (For Common Core grads, that means ass-kissing, malleable principles, and dubious character.)

It's akin to the leadership of the military in every banana republic and failed state ever recorded in human history, so it isn't surprising that most American cities are run exactly like Zimbabwe or Venezuela, and why, in the last administration, under which higher promotion was openly held hostage to political outlook, our military fell so far so fast.

  28. I know cops . Grew up playing with cops kids . Trained at the range with cops and learned many trade secrets and skills from cops . Cried at the funeral of more than a few . Many cops on duty and retired / deceased in my family . I'm Irish you see . After 9 generations in America my DNA came back 99.7% Scotch/Irish . No coal burners in my line anywhere . Not even in the woodpile . The modern version of cop is mostly a boot licking Dunning-Kruger candidate with no morals or empathy whatever . I would say that tptb let around 10% slip by them with a spine and some moral fabric . This is by design . That 10% is powerless to influence the rest of the pack . And the 90% are a pack of cowards that will plug your Grandma for dropping her teeth in her lap while holding your 3 month old Grandbaby . Ruby Ridge anyone ? Vickie Weaver and her unborn child were unavailable for comment . Anyone seen Lon ?

  29. 1) Does the fact that Ms. Weaver was pregnant give old Lon a twofer? I'm sure it pissed him off to miss Elisheba. Maybe the unborn only = .5 in counting coup.
    2) "I feel the same way about the military, the firemen, the doctors and nurses and others who work in the medical field. I believe that most of them; the overwhelming majority of them are good people."
Given that Snohomish County EMS literally brought me back from dead when I had a widow maker M.I., EMTs have my undying respect, gratitude, and good will. So does everybody else from M.D. to N.A. who participated in my care.
"...the military, the firemen, the doctors and nurses and others who work in the medical field."
The "bad apples" are at worst lacking in competence. They aren't out actively robbing, assaulting, and killing people.
    3) "What about that "majority" of good ones that say or do nothing to turn in the bad ones? What!?!??! snitch on your fellow boys, the same ones who you might need to save your ass some day? OOOOhhhh never."

    https://mountainguerrilla.wordpress.com/2014/01/15/tribes-and-tribalism-welcome-to-the-horde-part-two/
This is a good essay about tribalism and why loyalty to the frith is a necessity for the participants.
"Personal sympathies and antipathies do not stand in the way of the demands of Frith; all obligations, all self-interests, everything is intertwined in the kinship of the tribe, because the survival of the tribe demands it, and the survival of the individual and/or the individual’s family demands the survival of the tribe."
The cops are a tribe, and tribal and personal survival depend on everybody supporting each other, even when they fuck up.
"Motorsickle gangs" (I prefer socially alternative cycling fraternity) function just like the cops. I was present at a party where a patch holder killed a guy by drug-fueled incompetence in front of at least 30-40 people and nobody saw nothin'.
