Sunday Music: Long Cool Woman

Just perfection. This comes on the radio, and I'm there until the fade out...

She had it all.

{If anybody cares, I took a minute, and these are planned through about next March.
And I'm just scratching the surface.}

  1. From when music was music as opposed to what passes for such these days. TY

  2. Ebola Alert!

350 migrants from Congo just arrived in San Antonio, Texas:

"Hundreds of illegal immigrants from the Congo are showing up on the streets of Texas. Jewish organizations have instructed them on how to fly to Ecuador and how to travel to the U.S. and how to claim asylum."

  3. Nothing to see here ffolks. They are clean. No fever. Just some of the poor oppressed from the Congo. No worries, they escaped before EBOLA arrived. Stay the course! LOL, LOL, LOL.Yeah, no worries.

  4. There is no one to blame for the events that will now unfold. WE THE PEOPLE allowed the Ebola virus to enter this country. WE did this while being fully aware of the consequences to our people and our ability to deal with it. This was/is an invasion. Funny thing is everyone was looking for an armed assault. LOL. WE were invaded by a passive means. Allowed by our political correctness. How far WE fell from landing a man on the moon to self annihilation by political correctness.

  5. Every working band in every roadhouse (unless they were stuck with accordion-driven polkas) had to learn this song. The first arpegios grab ya, and you may as well just surrender.

  6. I remember hearing this on AM radio *way* too far back in the day.

  10. Old fart I know. I tease the young'ns about how music like that back then they had to strum the guitar and beat the drums to make it and it was so much better. They still love me though. I like to tell them about how some of them used to be MTV specials before it became a network.

  11. There'a a Larry Levingston that commented under yt that says they have Ebola cases in Guatemela. I told him to come here and write about it. Here's his post I copied: I'm in Guatemala and EBOLA IS HERE. Multiple outbreaks since 25 died in 2014... --
Other people mentionned just now that Florida Maquis has great info on Ebola. Just letting you know but I don't know how reliable/researched his stuff is.

  12. Marina,

What are the Ebola links for Larry Levingston and Florida Maquis?

  13. @Ebola: Florida Maquis :
I checked him out just 5 minutes after my post, need to do more later. I did notice however the comments under his videos are definitely not of the caliber found here at Raconteur nor of Aesop himself. Seems quite mainstream but he's been posting several re Ebola. There might be useful info. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDow765I-QrmVp9Kfz0HqGA -- Re Larry Levingston: His yt channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwKYJivc6EMs_c_BsxTYCYA -- Where he posted his comment that I read, it's a slightly off the wall site but I still check it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=MU5-u44ISEE

  14. There are no - repeat ZERO - reliable reports that confirm so much as a single case of Ebola in Central America, now or ever.
Anyone publishing to the contrary is posting horseshit and RUMINT, at this point.
    Consume at your own risk.

And BTW, finding even 1 single case there, now, would be Breaking News worldwide at the speed of electrons, and simulcast on 42 networks worldwide in minutes.

  15. Thanks for the info Aesop ! I am much more confident with your serious & thorough type of investigation.

  16. Chinook Med has short-dated Halo Chest Seals on clearance (exp 8/2020).

    $5 / 2pk

Thoughts on if these are good to use after their expiration date? Or buy for training use only?

  17. “We are entering a very new phase of high impact epidemics and this isn’t just Ebola,” Dr Michael Ryan, the executive director of the WHO’s health emergencies programme told me.

He said the world is “seeing a very worrying convergence of risks” that are increasing the dangers of diseases including Ebola, cholera and yellow fever.

…Dr Ryan said the World Health Organization was tracking 160 disease events around the world and nine were grade three emergencies (the WHO’s highest emergency level).

“I don’t think we’ve ever had a situation where we’re responding to so many emergencies at one time. This is a new normal, I don’t expect the frequency of these events to reduce.”

  18. Dang ya Aesop!
That long cool woman piece got in my head and will not leave.
Spent the morning at my range practicing and while I'm trying to concentrate
on sight picture, sight alignment, that Long Cool Woman in a black dress is bouncing around my old head. Didn't cause no 9's though.

  19. After their expiration date, Halo seals become...Halo seals.
Of course they're valid after "expiration".
All that means is that the seller no longer guarantees efficacy and sterility.
They don't need to be sterile (though it's a nice thought), and they either stick, or they don't.
Only someone with a business license and fiduciary responsibility (practice group, clinic, hospital, etc.) need worry about expiration dates. (They're largely a legal scam.)
Even for Good Samaritan practitioners, let alone unlicensed bystanders, the prudent course between no chest seal and an expired one is always going to be the expired one.

And buying a ton for training would be smart too.

Buy all you think you need for either purpose, that's a great price.
