I spent 4 years while in college (71, 72, 73, 74) playing DJ for our college's radio station (We supported ourselves and the College Free-air FM station and the College sports TV station on our ad revenue so we weren't what folks considered a "College Radio Station". precisely).
We were Top 40 days and Prog Rock nights---(later called AOR) so we had an eclectic mix most of the time. Heck the MAJOR competition (yes we did our own surveys) was a prog station in Ottawa (Cee kah cee aje==CKCH) and CHOM. NOT Drake CHUM!!
Saw her do this in concert in the Sacramento area in the early 80's. At that time she was doing a benefit for a Born Again group IIRC, but the overall show was a pleasant time.
I was attending with a Christian group I met at the Q's at Mather. Not overly preachy, cute girls, and beat hanging around the Day Room every night. I could always go troll at the O-Club if I wanted to get some sleaze on.
NOW yer playin my music.

Yes I have VERY eclectic tastes as well.
This was one of Art Bell's favorite songs and he played it often on his show late at night - Coast-to-Coast. RIP Art.

Sweet, beautiful voice. Midnight at the Oasis. Who wouldn’t want to be there with her?
ReplyDeleteThat’s Amos Garrett on the guitar. Axeman extraordinaire! And his solo on this song was epic.
ReplyDeleteascdew beat me to it. Amos, man. One of the most epic, and elegantly economical, pieces of genius ever to come out of a guitar.
ReplyDeleteI always loved that song. The Mrs., however, doesn't - she does have some faults.
