Shitbird II: All Clucked Up

We noted recently that amongst his multiple military accomplishments, Nathan Phillips achieved the bottom-most rung of the military rank structure on multiple occasions, after going UA (AWOL) three times in 1975, before finally being separated for good.

But wait! There's more!

It turns out that during the exact period of his USMCR reserve enlistment, he was also a serial f**k-up jailbird with civilian authorities too. In fact, the reason he may have been AWOL from Marine Corps duty several times may be because he was already locked up by civilian authorities. (And yes, Gentle Readers, Uncle can screw you for missing military formations because you were in civvie jail, because civilian law and military law don't constitute double jeopardy! If you were thinking of enlisting, write that factoid on your hand in Sharpie, lest ye forget.)

(MORDOR ON THE POTOMAC) Phillips, who was 19 at the time, was “charged with escaping from the Nebraska Penal Complex where he was confined May 3,” according to a May 9, 1974, article in the Lincoln Star. The court approved a bond of $500 and set a preliminary hearing for May 14.
He pleaded guilty to assault on June 19, 1974, and was fined $200. In addition, he was charged with underage possession of alcohol in 1972, 1973, and 1975, as well as negligent driving. A destruction of property charge against him was dropped in August 1973, but Phillips was sentenced to one year probation for a related charge of alcohol possession by a minor.
For reference, his reservist enlistment was from 1972-1976, the exact time he was lighting up every court calendar in Nebraska.

One wonders how his reserve chain of command could have not noticed all this unsavory behavior, and given him the boot much earlier.

You'd think missing reserve meetings because you were in the state pen or county jail would have raised a red flag or three, even in the military scraping-the-bottom-of-the-barrel year of 1974.

We repeat this classic bit of military wisdom for emphasis:

"What kind of bird doesn't fly?"
"A shitbird, sir!"

Shitbirds. Democrat SJW activists.

  1. Well, well, that enlarges the rationale for the various indian tribes knowing about him and not permitting him at any of their scheduled events other than as an attendee same as if I were to attend.

In short, they don't like him at all.

  2. Everyone trying to squirrel out of this one by saying that HE never said he served in Vietnam.

Take a look at this, folks, and tell me he wasn't trying to claim he served IN VIETNAM during that time.

  3. @Baldrick

Of course he was lying. I returned from Japan in 1969, in those days you had to travel in uniform, landing at Travis AFB, then rode the military bus to SFO to catch a flight to Atlanta and then to Asheville. I wasn't hassled by anyone, though I did have to step over some rather unkempt folks lying around at SFO.

  4. And I'm looking all over my Dad's DD 214 and there's no box that says "In Theater". There's "Foreign and/or Sea Service" and there are dates in there. I'm being vague on purpose because I'm sick of this stolen valor, and if anyone has a DD 214 from that era they'll know what I'm talking about. If they don't they'll have to go suck an egg and not copy/paste for themselves.

  5. @Pat H.

Oh the memories! Left from Yakota 4/71 thru Travis to SFO (United 747 military standby in first class)and further east. Never hassled either in full dress blues.
Chief shit bird wouldn't know the truth if snuck up and bit him in the arse.

  6. In Denver in 1973 (Service Dress Green) I was not hassled per se, but I remember being invisible to everyone but the cops. It evoked the Amish "shunning" for me. Certainly got hassled in Boulder a couple of years later, but I "provoked" them by being on the sidewalk in Dress Blues after a parade.

  9. So I was learning to shit on the big toilet and not get my foreskin caught in the zipper 1973 is on some database somewhere? This is like a cruel mother after three gin and tonics telling the entire room she caught you jerking off with the vacuum cleaner in junior high.

Everyone whip it out and piss on the drunk drunk ditchinjun for being a shitbird fifty years ago.

Five hundred cans of gold paint later, what the Hell do you expect?

  10. No, he's a shitbird right this minute.
What he did for the years he claimed to be a "Marine recon ranger in Vietnam" is fair game because he brought it up.

The lesson is, "Don't start nothin', won't be nothin'."

Chief Fullashit should have shut his lying pasty face, and gone off somewhere to get his drunk on in private. But it turns out he's only a Washington DC redskin.

  11. His brain hasn't shrunk to fit his ears, they grew around an empty space. In his remaining cranial vault there exists at least half a liter of dead space and it is lined with 2 mm of gold paint. Find the cunt that paid him to be there and fire for effect. Spock's Brain and all.

  13. His chain of command was probably OK with it just because he was a body to fill a slot. Remember this is the start of the all volunteer military and recruitment was probably really slow. So they retained him for that reason (I went in in January of 1975 Army not marines)and army recruitment was pretty slow.
