When you can’t correctly diagnose the problem, any suggested treatment is almost certain to be a load of horseshit as well.

Those who knee-jerk disagree illustrate the point better and more concisely than I could, as a poster child for That Guy.

Historical note: you got Hollywood as a largely (but not then nor never entirely) Jewish invention, precisely because of the same white-hooded goose-stepping anti-Semitism in the OP and responses, except at the turn of the last century, coupled with the avarice of Thomas Edison Inc., Philadelphia lawyers, and Tamany Hall politics conniving to try to sue Jewish filmmakers out of business every time they made a movie, and the subsequent and reflexive decamping of the Thalberg/Mayer/Goldwyn/Selznick types from corrupt East coast environs, where justice was sold by the pound to the highest bidder, and getting off the train in Phoenix AZ on the one day in 365 it ever rains there.

That wouldn’t do at all, so they all got back on the train, arrived in Los Angeles, saw they had 300+ days of sunshine/year, ocean, desert, mountain, plains, forest woodland, and city-scape all in close proximity, coupled with a thriving and booming metropolis, hard-working people absent trade unionism, and dirt-cheap real estate, with none of the East Coast kleptocracy previously noted, and the match was made that gave you the single greatest cultural achievement in America since ever: the movie business.

They could shoot cowboy and indian flicks three miles from downtown L.A., because in 1910, everything from that point to the Pacific Ocean was bean fields, cactus patches, and rocky chapparal, and hordes of broke-dick former ranch hands became cavalry troopers and Schmoe-hawk tribe Indian stunt men.

Squeeze Jell-O, and you always end up with a mess all over yourself. If Edison, Tamany Hall politics, and robber-baron kleptocracy hadn’t squeezed the Jews out of the East Coast, Hollywood would have been called Long Island, Connecticut, and/or New Jersey. Well-played. How’s that working out for those areas now?

Hollywood is not a Jooooooooooos!!! problem; those exact folks gave you The Wizard Of Oz, Gone With the Wind, Stagecoach (starring some B-list singing cowboy), Goodbye Mr. Chips, Of Mice and Men, The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes, Dodge City, Drums Along The Mohawk, Gunga Din, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, Jesse James, Young Mr. Lincoln, and about 100 other movies, including a couple of Secret Service-entitled flicks starring some kid from Illinois, all in just that one year (1939)!

If you can’t suss that out, that year was the Yankee’s “Murderer’s Row” of movie-making, compared to ever in history, anywhere.

Now tell me the names of the producers and studio heads, just for those 12 flicks, in 1939.

Tell me about the Hollywood that produced, e.g. It’s A Wonderful Life, Sahara, Twelve O’clock High, Ben Hur, and 30K-40K other films, some 1000 of which are international treasures, and the high points of the entire quintessential American art form; then compare and contrast that with the Hollywood that makes any four examples of the current shite you’d care to name, and see if you can spot what changed between Hollywood 1915-1990ish, versus Hollywood from 1990-present.

If you didn’t know that around the break point in that tale, the overwhelming bulk of movie financing and box office revenue started coming from overseas, which is why Hollywood no longer gives two wet shits for mainstream America’s viewpoint, nor caters to same, you’re waaaaaaay behind the curve on this topic.

Pay more attention to the “business” half of the entertainment business.
In short, “follow the money“.

Hollywood happens to be located in America, but it caters to everyone but America. This isn’t a Joooooooooooos!!! problem, it’s a ¥en/€uro/riyal problem.

WTF do you think the mediocre Red Dawn reboot was CG-scrubbed of the original (as written and shot) ChiCom villainy, and the Norks’ notional invasion scenario CGI-inserted into the entire film in post-?

As I noted, Mel Gibson, dragooned bassackwards into the wrong end of this conversation, proved that point: No one in anti-American/anti-Christian mainstream Hollywood wanted to finance a film in spoken Aramaic about the trials and crucifixion of Christ. So Mel coughed up $30M of his own money, shot what he wanted, released it, and as the producer/sole-owner of that flick, raked in the lion’s share of the >$600M gross it returned. So far.

You really want to f**k Hollywood where it hurts, without any lube?

Bring in supporting evidence from the embargoes and sanctions against Saddam’s Iraq from June 1990-January 1991, showing how that worked out.

Hollywood is an American invention, not a Jewish one.

Currently, a ream (Common Core grads, that would 500 sheets, i.e. one sealed bundle of same) of paper at Office Depot runs about $3.

Only in Hollywood can I add $2 worth of ink to any 200 sheets of that ream of paper, turn it into a screenplay, sell it for $1,000,000, have it made into a top-grossing movie, lather rinse, repeat, and retire like George Lucas when DisneyCorp buys your empire, for $6,000,000,000 dollars.
(Not bad for a guy who only actually wrote two movies in his entire life, and only actually directed about four.)

Initial investment, $5. In 1970s dollars, about $1.80.

J.K. Rowling is even worse/better: she was unemployed and living in her car when she penned the first Harry Potter book. In spiral-bound notebooks, with ink pens, FFS. Ten movies, ten books, and a gazillion dollars of promotional merchandise later, she's a wee bit better off.

Try that in any other field of endeavor.

Every single time he does it, for thirty years and running.

Too, China's economy is too entwined with the USA consumer.     Now, if a lot of people would find their imaginations again and start writing stories (even derivative, as Star Wars is to a lot of stories like Flash Gordon, The Seven Samurai, actual history, etc., and Harry Potter being a near duplicate of Star Wars)... people need to write stories well, and do it with some imagination. Hollywood will follow those trends and make movies about them.

    Right now Hollywood is risk-averse. In the 80's they weren't so much (maybe Aesop can explain why because I don't know), so we got all sorts of movies then that are just being remade, rebooted, or copied now. Write an original story and have it published first (Hollywood seems to like best-selling graphic novels so team up with an artist friend), and your story can come in and slowly but surely turn the prevailing culture on its head.

    The right needs artists, writers, entertainers, educators - people who will NOT stick their heads in the sand instead of understanding and being around that culture. Aesop has said the same. To seize the culture, you need to seize the culture by the sack, really. Understand the current culture and be a little insidious in your storytelling. Just a little, don't whomp people over the head with a bat. The socialists were insidious, they didn't come storming into all areas and say "YAY SOCIALISM!". In the 80's they would likely have been fired on the spot. They were quiet at first.. incremental. Do the same. And for God's sakes tell a story well, please.

    I think a movie that COULD use a remake is Colossus:The Forbin Project. Sure Terminator is a work based off of that, but do Colossus itself again, with a few changes (the USSR is gone). Put in a little tiny bit here and there about PC culture and how it's ruining things - even some of my most liberal friends are getting tired of it all (attacking Rudolph pissed them off too). It would also appeal to people who are getting tired of the Silicon Valley thinking they know better than everyone else (so pretty much everyone). It'd be a hit. Maybe Aesop knows someone who could do a treatment on that. *nudge nudge*

I have no idea how close that is to reality, but I do know that's a rounding error in the Federal Budget. What's all that money used for and how does it affect the culture? Focus people, focus. Can't see the mountains for the molehills.

    I've long felt that one of the reasons we've been hated is that we don't bow to earthly authority; we're also - I believe - the first religion that said that there is ONE G-d, and that even Kings are subject to Him. Since time immemorial, Kings and Emperors have been deities or near-so, that didn't sit well with people who were raised from birth to think they were divine in flesh.


    In general, I see a large part of the problem as the edge moving. For example, a few years ago there was a woman on the Emmy's red carpet with virtually nothing on underneath the dress. A year or so later, definitely no undies. And then, IIRC, a "sneak peek crotch shot". To get edgy, one must exceed the depravity of prior years. Since "extreme" gets press, which gets views, which gets traffic and movie tickets and so on, there is the obvious impetus to keep pushing.

    I think we are in violent agreement. Hollywood was started without any of the bribes that modern government think are necessary to attract industry and jobs. Those people in early Hollywood took their chances and did their best. Some failed. Some succeeded and built an amazing industry.

    I definitely agree Foreign Sales drive the repudiation of US Patriot content. The Chinese Totalitarians will never accept Pro-American content like Superman's "Truth, Justice, and the American Way," in their censored, government reviewed and approved box office movies. Chinese Box Office dollars are more valuable than patriotic US Box Office Dollars, because they can be quantified and identified and locked down upfront even before the movie is released.

    I don't know who started California's Democratic Downfall, but it is a definite fact, driven by the voters in the metropolises of LA And San Francisco.

    Hollywood is continuing in California based on inertia and the huge support industry built in the last century, despite your local and state governments attempts to destroy it. I don't know if anyone can bribe "Hollywood" to move, but a lot of states and Canadian provinces are willing to try. I don't know if they will succeed, but if California's restrictive rules and regulations and crazy taxes drive out enough producers we may find out?

  24. You can't win a fight by trading punches with a heavyweight. There are a number of small Christian movie producers out there and they are making some in-roads but the majority of the sheeple still flock to the carnal movies and will for the foreseeable future.
    Money is power and the deprivation of money demeans that power. If JOOOOs use money as a weapon then all we can do is deprive them of the weapon by not giving our money to them. If the Jooooooooos of Hoolywood want to take money from the chinks to make garbage and shiite movies then fine, let'em. Americans need to husband their money better and not waste it on the trash. Instead invest in production companies that give us a better and more hopeful message of life. There is a new site called PUREFLIX. Put your money there even if you're not an avid and devout Christian follower you can still thumb your nose at Follywood by doing the exact opposite of what they present.

    This will always be true where the two positions on any movie at the very bottom (production assistant) and the very top (producer) are both entry-level jobs.
    Given the cachet of an American production and premiere, and the surety of foreign interest and box-office in anything made here, it's virtually impossible to lose money on a movie, yet Hollywood does it 2/3rds of the time, 24/7/365, because they want PC over performance in nearly every case. This is how they can kill blockbuster franchises like Star Wars or Avengers in just a couple of movies.

    That's fighting a heavyweight who's blind in one eye and crippled in both legs.

    1) the film in question was filmed on location in Geowja, IIRC.
    Not Hollywood. Not even within five states of Hollywood, and in fact, 95% of the way to the entire other coast.

    2) The first great migratory wave to CA after the initial Gold Rush and subsequent statehood, was hordes of displaced Okies after the Dustbowl. Grapes of Wrath was only superficially a work of fiction rather than documentary, and penned, in fact, by native Californian John Steinbeck.

    3) We survived and absorbed that onslaught - only just - but couldn't hope to do so against the tide of 10M of your toothless banjo-playing kinfolk from the Other 49, let alone 15M illegals. Hereabouts, we have been, for some three quarters of a century, the nation's tampon to absorb the fucktards and fruitcakes who didn't fit in out in East Cackalacky, for any value of that from Bangor ME to Guam.

  33. We got some good out of state folks Aesop. We did. The actual engineers who came out to work for Lockheed and Fairchild Semiconductor (the REAL Silicon Valley, not the absolute joke it is now), people like my father-in-law who came here from Europe to be an engineer for a defense contractor, my father who came here to go to university and then work for those defense contractors, etc. My father-in-law is still a conservative behind enemy lines, as they say - there are a few. My father and Uncle, both former Marines, buried there now also.

    I remember in the 90's those bumper stickers though - "Welcome to California, Now Go Home". I remember yelling at the asshats who were rude and honking everywhere with no manners, I KNEW they were from the East Coast. I'm wishing they'd paid attention to those stickers. Most of us natives have moved up to the hills now, and it's not a friendly place for out of staters, really. For every dipwad talking smack about this state, look at a political map of California. Your relatives moved to the coasts. Californians moved inland. See the difference? Good. Shut up.

    For every adopted Californian we gained like Reagan, or your family members, I guesstimate we got three Charles Mansons, and four Julios y Marias from Oaxaca. That's not any sort of a fair trade, and as events have proven, not a sustainable one either.

    And the same thing is happening to Florida and Texas.

    When they both turn purple in the next decade - for good, absent a biblical cleansing - that's the whole electoral ball game. Depending on a few thousand votes in Michigan or Wisconsin was a fluke.

    It won't be enough to simply drive them out locally, it's going to require the equivalent of Sherman's March to the Sea, wherein we pull them up root and branch, from the San Diego to Seattle and the DC-Boston corridors all the way to the Canada border in both instances.

    And they're pushing for that contest.

    But RKO was owned by Joe Kennedy (yup, the rum-runner sorta Catholic guy.)

    And a VERY Catholic guy named Connolly wrote a lot of those classics:

     Face in the Sky (1933) (Spencer Tracy);

     The Right to Romance (1933) (Robert Young/Ann Harding);

     It Happened One Night (1934) (Clark Gable/Claudette Colbert) for which Connolly won an Oscar;

     Youth Takes a Fling (1938) (Joel McCrea);

     Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) (Jimmy Stewart), nominated for 11 awards, winning Best Original Story;

     “Tarzan” movies of the 1940s;

     Music for Millions (1944) (June Allyson) for which Connolly was nominated for an
    Academy Award;

     Till the Clouds Roll By (1946) (biography of composer Jerome Kern with a host of stars including Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra);

     Two Sisters from Boston (1946) (June Allyson/Kathryn Grayson/Jimmy Durante);

     The Unfinished Dance (1947) (Margaret O’Brien/Cyd Charisse);

     State of the Union (1948) (Spencer Tracy/Katharine Hepburn comedy);

     Here Comes the Groom (1951) (Bing Crosby/Jane Wyman);

     Hans Christian Anderson (1952) (Danny Kaye), nominated for six awards;

     My Son John (1952) (Helen Hayes/Van Heflin/Dean Jagger) for which Connolly was nominated for an Oscar. It was directed by his friend and fellow Catholic Leo McCarey who had directed Going My Way (1944) and The Bells of St. Mary’s (1945).
