She was a Specialist and he was a Warrant Officer. He lost rank and his wife initiated a divorce, and that was just during the investigation. Then the Specialist had an attack of conscience, or something, and admitted that she had pursued the WO and he turned her down. That was it. That was the "assault". He refused to let her come to his house and have sex. What happened to her? She got demoted one tank to PFC and got moved to work in the office where shitbag soldiers were sent to work pushing papers for the rest of their tour.

That was it. That was the extent of the "sexual assault" drama that I saw in eight years. One female trying to ruin a good Warrant's career and marriage, and nearly succeeding. He fixed his marriage but his service was irreparably damaged because they don't usually give that stuff back once it's taken. The Gray Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15098168056466325559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-714028479313834812.post-3144971396381570222018-10-01T08:37:00.774-07:002018-10-01T08:37:00.774-07:00Aesop: She was watching Kavanaugh being questione...Aesop: She was watching Kavanaugh being questioned. She also seemed to think the D's were asking actual questions rather than grandstanding, and she noted that K didn't actually answer some questions with yes or no. I think where my wife gets wrapped around the axle with things like this is that SHE'S a nice person and presumes other people are as well. Since she would never lie about such a thing under any circumstances, it's incomprehensible to her that someone else would. Of course believing other people are as nice as you are can get you into a whole boatload of trouble, which is where I sometimes need to step in.

My wife believes SOMEONE did what she described, but isn't convinced it was Kavanaugh who did so. She doesn't follow politics as closely as I do, and doesn't seem to have internalized two things: 1) The way you can tell a politician is lying is his lips are moving and 2) There are lots of good politicians, but you have to dig them up to shake hands with them.

Mark D

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-714028479313834812.post-64545593291779923772018-10-01T07:57:18.763-07:002018-10-01T07:57:18.763-07:00Why...?

Now understand, I love my wife with all my heart, and she's one of the nicest and smartest women I've ever known. She can be a little....naive sometimes (like this time). I think her problem is assuming that people need a REASON to lie.

The knee-jerk reaction is to lie. You don't have to TEACH children to lie (in fact some need to be punished repeatedly to make them STOP lying).

So someone had just enough wine to lower her inhibitions and hooked up with some guy she met. Waking up the next morning with throbbing head and genitals, but recalling full well what happened and that she was a willing, even enthusiastic participant, decides upon sober reflection in the harsh light of day that she's "Not that kind of girl" so therefore he must've raped her. Obviously she slipped something into her drink, but just in case let's wait a couple weeks (months, years) before making any accusation, so any evidence of drugs, or for that matter DNA, is long gone. And of course as a victim she gets all the benefit of the doubt.

Now let's add some "reasons". Like he has the job you want, and he's not going anywhere, but allegations can get him fired, then you can get his job. Or you got caught by your boyfriend, so you cry "rape" instead of admitting you cheated on him. Or he's politically opposed to your viewpoint and you'll do anything to keep him off the Supreme Court. Or it's Thursday.

Mark DAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-714028479313834812.post-34487272899526025752018-10-01T03:53:56.826-07:002018-10-01T03:53:56.826-07:00True, but the Sisterhood never lets little nigglin...True, but the Sisterhood never lets little niggling details like facts or reality get in the way of a good narrative.Aesophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07834464741531503378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-714028479313834812.post-52125290549455143222018-10-01T03:14:06.974-07:002018-10-01T03:14:06.974-07:00A few years back this came up on Weaponsman, and s...A few years back this came up on Weaponsman, and someone made the astute observation that in order to achieve numbers like that in the military you would have to make Rape a sign off item which needed to be completed prior to any PCS. You have clearly made the case that false allegations of rape DO occur and occur often enough to be a real problem in sorting out fact from fiction. The problem however is that roughly HALF of the US population is IMMUNE to facts, logic or rational thought. Essentially you are either 'preaching to the choir' or wasting your time and effort because those who refuse to believe or listen to your train of thought make their decisions and base their beliefs on emotions and agenda. In short....America is schizophrenic and in dire need of a 'divorce'. And it looks like we're going to get one in some fashion with the only question being how much it costs and what the body count will be. And this issue is just ONE of many where one side sees things factually and the other is NOT INTERESTED in facts....just outcome. And to the left the ENDS justify the means...ANY MEANS.Dannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-714028479313834812.post-87129682429192127362018-09-30T18:58:47.461-07:002018-09-30T18:58:47.461-07:00Should read "...pushed the accuser into filin...Should read "...pushed the accuser into filing charges."Unknownsailorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10384464603647986681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-714028479313834812.post-55177950503252313092018-09-30T18:57:41.616-07:002018-09-30T18:57:41.616-07:00I saw a false rape accusation go down in my first ...I saw a false rape accusation go down in my first Navy command.

Accused: My room mate.
Accuser: Worked in my office

What likely happened: Accuser hooked up with accused on Superbowl Sunday 1995, and afterwards thought, "Ew, I let that guy fsck me...."

My unit had a female SNCOIC at the time, and rumor had it that it was she who pushed the accused into filing charges.

Anyway, after the accused changed her story for the third time, the investigation was dropped.

I know false rape accusations happen, I saw it personally.Unknownsailorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10384464603647986681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-714028479313834812.post-66147200343813778302018-09-30T18:31:56.688-07:002018-09-30T18:31:56.688-07:00Because the only way to stop false accusations is ...Because the only way to stop false accusations is to punish the falsely accused.

I'm guessing you meant "punish the false accusers" there, otherwise the sentence doesn't make any sense.jabrwokhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14537636497352864636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-714028479313834812.post-44139142287195184802018-09-30T18:14:59.173-07:002018-09-30T18:14:59.173-07:00Well, there currently is a major scandal involving...Well, there currently is a major scandal involving the head Navy lawyer, some Vice-Admiral SumDood, who literally pressured a courts-martial to convict a highly decorated SEAL under less provable evidence than has been brought against Kavanaugh. Really.

My experiences with the whole false-rape thing was watching women use it as a tool to advance in their jobs, or to screw others over for a litany of vindictive and petty reasons, like at least 3 cases I know were because the accuser didn't like that the accused and his lady were in a contented, good relationship and he wouldn't notice or pay attention to the accuser.

Look how many Frat houses have been shut down over false sexual accusations. It's a whole hella lot of them.

Yes. Women are raped. Yes. Women don't report rapes, yes, it does happen. But the woman who doesn't report a rape also doesn't go to the ER, or to doctors, or to police or to anyone, keeping it a secret shame. I have seen that type of rape response before.

But... Women who falsely accuse should be charged at the same level as the complaint they are saying occurred. Because the only way to stop false accusations is to punish the falsely accused.

Once the fake rape victims stop fake rape victiming, then we can get around to seeing what the actual statistics are.Andrewnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-714028479313834812.post-66658669474805113832018-09-30T17:39:33.935-07:002018-09-30T17:39:33.935-07:00Also, it was frustrating that once it was determin...Also, it was frustrating that once it was determined that a rape allegation was false we could not cite or arrest them for making a False Police Report. Being able to prove an accusation is a cornerstone of our justice system.
